You know the teams by any chance?

Nah no clue, and it's possible Russell's agent (whoever that is) may have just thrown that out there to make Russell seem more in-demand. That seems pretty typical for most agents.

Yeah could be true I just think there are QBs that he could prolly beat out like weeden and gabbert

Russell screwed up his first go around by getting lazy and overweight, potentially as a result from personal issues. A lot of other players have gotten second and third chances after much worse. I'd like to see him succeed. We can all use a feel good story.

Vince Young has played for 3 teams

Russell...I believe, only washed out in Oakland,....

All teams need backup QBs...with starting experience.....

Some teams like Denver have a backup QB who has never started a game in the NFL...That's potentially a flaw..

Yeah I agree after hearing the things he went through it had to be tough I'd like to see him get a shot he is actually trying really hard he has lost a lot of weight

I think Weight Watchers would take a chance with him if he takes off a few more lbs. He'd be one of the more inspiring endorsement stories if he can get down to 170-190 or so.

Hey, if Terry Bradshaw can do a weight loss ad, clearly the endorsement bar is not all that high  haha  :funny: I do admire people who can poke fun at there image & celebrity status though.

Russell deserves a second chance with some ball club..

Tim Tebow deserves a shot on the '700 Club'

Why does Russell deserve a chance over Tebow?

Jamarcus had an actual shot, and he blew it. He was lazy and a * when he had his shot.

Tebow has done nothing, but work hard. Elway never really wanted him, and Rex Ryan started a rookie over him when they finally benched Sanchez. The Jets never wanted Tebow.

Putting aside the 2nd chance issue....    The Jets wanted him enough to offer Denver a 4 and a 7 for him.   So,  they traded picks and picked up a big contract.    That says they wanted him at some point.

It was only after he arrived and they could see first hand what he could do -- and more important,  what he could NOT do -- that they decided not to use him much at all....

But, once upon a time,  they did indeed want him....    it just didn't work out....

You would think someone who was wanted would get more snaps than Tebow did. I think it was a publicity stunt. The Jets are attention whrs and having Tebow was something that Woody wanted, not RR. It's no secret to anyone that while Tebow may not impress in practice, he performs well enough and elevates other guys on game day for the W.

I could see him getting a shot.  I find it very unlikely that he ever sees a guaranteed sum in excess of 5 million in terms of a signing bonus, but he's still young enough to give him a shot.  Heck, a guy with that kind of arm talent, if he gets his head on straight, could make one heckuva QB.

As for Tebow... well, Tebow's talent was never in his arm strength.  His awkward throwing motion, coupled with the attention he'd bring to a team from the backup QB position simply isn't worth it.  At least with Russell, you have a guy just getting another shot.  With Tebow, you bring a circus of attention despite being a lesser QB than your starter.  That, IMO, is not a good thing.

Have you read about wat all happened to him and seem maybe why he screwed up he was deperessed from deaths and things and review does deserve a chance just not as a QB he isn't a good NFL QB IMO

Yeah I think if he keeps takin weight off he could be a decent player ik he is better then Sanchez and gabbert

Eh, Idk. His weight was only one of the issues on his long list. As far as Sanchez and Gabbert...well we should just put all 3 of these QBs in a bottle and send it out into the sea, never to be seen again. haha

    • The criteria is the Colts want to keep you but you’re a fringe player. It all comes down to how much the Colts like your nephew. He could surprise and if he does they may not want to put him on the PS out of fear of losing him to another team. The good thing is the Colts love their oline players, and will keep lower level draft picks/UDFA lineman over other positions. There’s quite a few later round guys the colts have kept on that have shown to be pretty good level guys with bright futures.    there’s not really any criteria for being signed to the PS other than they want to see how much better a guy can get over there.    most of the time, an older guy is either ineligible for the PS because of how many games he’s started, or it’s not worth it because you see what the guy is over what he can become (as he’s been in the league a while).   odds are the younger guy gets signed to the ps over the older guy.
    • Remember all those years we watched Mannings fluttering passes downfield? 100 Int's even over his 1st 5 seasons. Not counting many Playoff interception disasters.  No flutters for AR ! Just less closing time for the D.
    • I just read the article on Stampede Blue.  It’s an old clip of him dunking.     I’m pretty sure they told him not to do that during this time.  He did say he’d be throwing with the guys.
    • I am always impressed with the knowledge on this forum so I thought I would ask a question about the practice squad as opposed to trying to figure it out on my own.   We have a UDFA Dalton Tucker on the OL (Guard Tackle) Currently listed as 3rd team behind Q and Stills. He is my nephew-in-law and a great young man. He is a good OL with a lot of flexibility or otherwise the Colts would not have signed him. However would be a very long shot to make the team at this time due to the returning player and two OL draft picks.  The question is how many OL do we normally keep on the Practice Squad and what are the criteria? In all my years of following the Colts have just not paid attention to the details. If it came down to Stills or Dalton for the PS is Stills or Pinter eligible and would you put a more veteran player on the PS or would you prefer a younger player assuming you thought he could develop? Pay-wise do all PS players get the same? I also understand that PS players attend home games on the sidelines and practice with the team since they are designated as practice squad. Any information is appreciated as I will be following this aspect a lot closer this fall.
    • I thought he said he wasn’t going to play BB?  How old is that video?
