Colts Will Not Be Resigning Jerraud Powers

Reports out there are saying that the Colts are not resigning Jerraud Powers.

At least they resigned Butler, but I was really hoping that Powers would stay too. Although he's had some injury troubles the last couple of years, I thought he had an impact and could have been used as a nickelback in our secondary.

He's a gritty, good player, who can hang with the best. Did extremely well against Steve Smith and Roddy White a few years ago. Shut down Jordy Nelson this year too.

He has talent and whoever picks him up will be very lucky. I hope he does well somewhere else and proves the Colts that they made a mistake.

His skill-set doesn't fit what we do. And IMO Butler would be a better 3. Therefore I am glad he may not be back.

I wish him well and hope he gets a number 1 corner-type money, or something close. It could help offset our FA signings in terms of compensation picks next year.

He wants No.1 corner money. He's not even close. To being as good as Vontae.

No big loss.  To me, Powers was disappointing.  He was a nice surprise as a mid-rounder.  The pundits raved about his maturity and how he was a future pro bowler.  But the guy never lived up to the future pro bowler billing.

For the most part, he was solid.  You never really noticed him...good nor bad.  And if he really was looking for number one CB money, then let him walk.  Powers would be a great third CB on a talented defense or a good second CB on a decent defense but if he's your best corner, your defense has issues.
