  1. So if our 4 man sack rate is very good, and our pressure rate of 85 "isn't bad", and we are solid against the run, yet we finished what was it 28th in defense, you surmise that our secondary, and yes our LB play didn't stink. Okee dokee.
  2. Gee, I recall that it was Brents that got humiliated in our last game. I think intelligent posters liked have having a CB with the speed to cover one on one like Gilmore could.
  3. No one ever said Ogeltree, Mo, or Granson were "great" prospects". We have some idea that Woods can be good in the red zone. We will grade him after his 3rd year to see if we have a player.
  4. This would be the same Brents that got destroyed in our last game against Houston. He finally took himself out of the game "as injured". He didn't look physically injured. He will require a whole Lotta LB & safety help, as a "shutdown".
  5. Oops, it was not Jones, who will never be a high quality CB, but a Ballard JAG. It was Contract Notes: Darrell Baker signed a 1 year extension, as ERFA, with the Indianapolis Colts on January 8, 2024. JMO of course the guy can't cover. No business on a 90 man roster. Good enough for Ballard to waste coaching and $ on.
  6. I don't believe we wanted Ngaukee back at all because of his run D. So Huff? And Ebukam is tough but Paye out weighs him by 15-20. You are begging to see us get killed against the run. Shades of Freeney- Mathis, and that only worked because we played from ahead so much. lol
  7. I would like to read a paper on how effective the edge pass rushers were from the final 8 teams. If we were strong in coverage with our back seven our pressures would have been higher. Raise are blitz % 8-10% and we wouldn't be talking about pressures. With Ballard/Dodds/Gus, there is NO reason we should expect them to build a SB caliber D. They instantly gave the CB Jones kid a new one year deal. They believe in him. Hahaha! How many Ballard duds have they kept around to "develop" for naught? I'm a diehard Colts fan. Irsay pledged he wasn't in this to go 8-8. A lesser coach than Steichen and we would have one 4-5 games.
  8. You are talking about gambling on a one year wonder playing for Robert Saleh. "Pro Football Focus graded Huff as a top-25 overall edge player but viewed him as one of the worst run stoppers among edge rushers, potentially creating a quandary for interested teams come March". A career high 480 highly productive snaps used in pass rush situations. Ngauake type player? The idea he would be more valuable at strong side DE is a bad argument. As a pass rush specialist what is he worth to Ballard? Or anyone? Will someone give him $25M fully guaranteed over the 1st 2 years? Our guys will grade his play.
  9. It's not my intent to scare you but, I would absolutely fight for your 1st 2 picks. And that 3rd pick would be for Roman Wilson or Jalen McMillan. Forgive the spelling. We need a top notch interior rusher beside Buckner, and his under study. Love it! And a high quality C/G on the roster. Fries is a quality backup, but our QB will often have Fries drive blocked in his face, or beaten. IMO Fries gets good zone run blocking grades, but is absolutely not capable of drive blocking his man off the line in short yardage. We must have better at RG to maintain a good wall for AR in the passing game, and better run blocking for our $ground game. And give us a 4.3's running WR with that burst that can also stop on a dime. Please let Steichen pick the WR and tell Ballard/Dodds to just focus on the o-line.
  10. A real treat to hear this story. Collie was very good at attacking zones, unfortunately Manning consistently threw him in harms way. Manning did the same to Dallas his first few years. They both got destroyed a number of times.
  11. I counter that with our run game and Jonathan Taylor finishing up the drive. Touche! A really good offense needs that go to guy that can keep the chains moving in critical situations. Pittman raised his game to that next level this season as a complete player, a real warrior. I think he can be our Kelce.. ish warrior/leader/competitor. He will earn his paycheck.
  12. So, "he is way more advanced than any of us thought"🤔. Many might say surprisingly more advanced. I would say that would be a cerebral surprise primarily, with a pleasant surprise with his shorter range accuracy. So with a full off season, summer camp, and some helpful regular season experience, a full season of classroom game preparation, film study, mental reps, trusting him desire for greatness and now time spent focused on watching his successful peers, you thinking he is more rookie like is beyond baffling. I expect him to surprise most again to quickly play more like a 3rd year player. I believe he IS very intelligent and wise and has a high ceiling. Accurate in tight windows with quick decisions, we will see. I was highly impressed with Jared Goff, but he just wasn't good enough. Baker, Stafford, Allen so good, our guy and his mates must be superb.
  13. Mahomes playoffs 15-3 41 TD's 8 int 68% Manning 14-13 40 TD's 25 int 63% 7 times went to playoffs with No wins. Game over.
  14. Spags blitzes worked to perfection, with Jones doing a phenomenal job also. JMO, if he were the pacifist that Gus is there were a number of great opportunities that Purdy would have nailed them on. We are stuck in no mans land with CB providing the talent, and with Gus and his staffs coaching.
  15. I hear you regarding Franklin. But there is a difference with tackling compared to Angerer imo. Angered got drug for 5 yards. Franklin does get them down and hits hard sometimes. And what I see is like you, Zaire ain't no Singletary. He doesn't read, attack to fill gaps. He gets caught up on locks still 5 yards of the Los, as we get gashed in the running game. In the passing game he just stands there when a TE or back comes into his zone and they are wide open for an easy dump off and he never closes for a well timed separating hit. It boggles the mind. And I ask myself, who teaches this dung.
  16. Nabers looks like he has the best of the best tools. Can't imagine he gets past the Bears at 9. Him and Pitt, get us a reliable TE, and a RG upgrade and the offense should develop into one of the best of the best. I pray they focus on getting the offense fixed 100% this off season, then attempt to do the D next year. I Trust that Ballard will half-behind it with his out of date approach.
  17. Excellent analysis. Read like a Superman post, or perhaps NCF when he was younger.
  18. I have NO DOUBT AR and his receiving core will spend extra time together for the rest of his career. He must keep that throwing arm healthy.
  19. Polian should have built a defense and strong running game. Instead he succumbed to Mannings desire to be the greatest MVP winning player of all time. And he became the "KING" of one and done. 7 times he led us into the playoffs and couldn't win a single game. And all the Interceptions, the happy feet under pressure. Mahomes was chasing Brady with his over 200 passes without a playoff int. In Mannings Colts SB winning playoffs he had 7 int. Haha! We won in spite of his Super brain and Golden arm. Oops, how about those Saints!
  20. So Steichen says he Gus, Rodney Thomas is terrible in single high, quit playing that excrement. Yip, AR can use his powerful arm to attack the whole field. And he impressed me how well he was processing things considering his lack of experience. We will see if Steichen can build something over the next couple years that can be relevant. Nothing new here, so pray Steichen can have great influence in FA and the draft. Be concerned though, what a huge Red Flag signing CB Baker. That means Ballard and Gus think their model is "sufficient". Oh joy!
  21. Ballard has shown beyond a doubt that he knows how to build a chumpionship roster, and Gus is waiting and waiting and Yada Yada Yada to learn how to mix it up. This is in my notes anyway.
  22. Perhaps I'm disremembering it, but I recall that he was jumping up and down on the sidelines, warming up, proving his calf was good enough to play. He was rubbing it in the Colts and fans faces. It was a big I Quit and there is only one person responsible for the news coming out when it did. He took the season off and still got paid his $25+ M. All class.
  23. You're funny. Smith gets $13.6M in 24 with a $6M cap hit. Do the math. And we would owe him $16.75 in 2025. He graded overall 80+, which makes him a high end RT. He is highly tradeable. Not happening.
  24. Pittman had 30 year old Diggs numbers. With Our 2nd string QB. Not sure how Buffalo, who is more than $50-M over the cap would absorb the $31M dead cap hit. This deal is given a big zero.
  25. As much as I like Grover, paying him say, $12M, I would look hard at options in FA for someone that gets more penetration.
