Way Too Early 2025 Mock Draft

Recommended Posts

Perhaps it’s an overreaction to two games, but I feel like it’s needed. After this I won’t do a mock until our draft position is confirmed.

As we sit, run defense has degraded big team. May be a scheme thing. Secondary lacks any real depth and is worse than we think. There’s no corner that can match up in man against Nico Collins and that’s a problem. Also an underrated need is LB. Our LBs can’t cover.

Currently we have the #2 overall pick according to Tankathon but I think it will actually be around pick 13.

Round 1: Shavon Revel, CB ECU- This is this years Quinyon Mitchell. Currently Dane Brugler’s 12th ranked player. He’s 6’3, 200 lbs with legit 4.3 speed. He gets Woolen comps but is further along than he was coming out. Check out his tape and you’ll be impressed. He’s a beast in man, but can likely play in any scheme.

Round 2: Jack Sawyer, Edge OSU- I wrote about him last year and had him in a mock before he returned to school. He’s an elite edge setter with pass rush upside. Sam Hubbard is the comp

Round 3: Rod Moore, FS Michigan- Tore his ACL in March during spring practices so he hasn’t played yet. But last years tape was really good, and should be more than enough to get him drafted. Excellent cover FS with high football IQ.

Round 4: Mitchell Evans, TE Notre Dame: Returning from an ACL, Mitchell was an absolute beast last year over the middle. He is a dual threat TE who can catch and Block and has great size at 6’5” 253.

Let me know what you guys think. Again this is just an early exercise to start looking at names to keep an eye on and evolving team needs.

Revel was a top corner for sure.  My next best RCB probably wouldn’t be found until R4.  Hate to see another young man get injured with first round talent.

Thanks for the write up, but IMHO, I think we need to add a player on the defensive interior

There are some studs at DT in this draft

I think we also need to upgrade our LBs, they are both getting exposed this year

Am hoping either RDE Umanmielen or Tyler Baron is available on Day 1 but NT Walter Nolan is tempting option.

Day 2 MLB Boettcher or WLB Mondon Jr/Oliver

R3 MLB Bruener or WLB Bissainthe if he declares.  Also may look at a QB like KJ Jefferson.  RB Woody Marks or RDE Bogle are needs.

R4 NT Slackman

R5 RDE Juncaj, NCBs Hancock, Castro or Knowles II. LDT Burch. LDEs Joyner, Batty, Diggs.

R6 RT Crenshaw-Dickson

R7 NCBs Ja’had Carter or Zion Childress

End of season am hoping we can resign C Kelly and both TEs Granson and MAC.  Granson does remind me of TE Gadsden II from Syracuse R2 projecting. Smith at RT can be moved free up cap space.

Outside of drafting CBs Revel or T. Hunter, LCB A’marion McCoy, RCBs Marshall Jr or Muhammad am not too inpressed with this draft class.  Hopefully we add a proven player(s) in FA.

Agree. But it also depends on who our DC is next year. I would like these 2

Pick 1 - Walter Nolen, DT, Ole Miss, 6'3", 305 lbs

Pick 2 - Jahdae Barron - Safety / Nickel CB, Texas, 5'11", 200 lbs

If Walter Nolen's injury issues creep up, we could see a swap of pick positions.

Man that’s unfortunate. I loved him. Thought he was a top 3 CB in the draft.

Im not opposed to drafting Deone Walker tbh. He can rotate and play sparingly until Buckner’s contract is up. He reminds me of Dexter Lawrence.

    • I think none of us saw the full practice on Thursday. Maybe he didn’t look great in Thursday practice so Steichen made the decision after that. The fact he went back to limited after having a full practice tells us a lot.   Derek Carr has the same injury and is going to miss 2 to 3 weeks..
    • I just watched the highlight.. that was probably the best punt ive ever seen too... and I watched us lose to a punter in 2008
    • He got what was there, several times them met him in the backfield and he still managed to get back to line of scrimmage or eek out a yard or 2.
    • If he is injury prone then he is done, time to move on. You cannot fix injury prone be sitting on the bench. The problem is that he has not been hurt playing QB. He gets hurt while trying to play running back. All running backs get hurt. All Running QB's who try to play Running Back get hurt.    Don't understand anything about learning from Flacco. The same crowd wanted Minshew last year for the same reason when anyone with any sense could see he was limited. He goes to Vegas and is now on the bench. If Flacco was in Vegas he would be on he bench.  You may win some games with Flacco but you cannot win with Flacco. We only scored 2 TD's yesterday.  One of those was because of a great play by Pittman. Flacco was not very good against a bad team. He threw high and gave TN an easy interception. AR can do that. He threw into the crowd twice and was picked off and was saved by penalties.  The only way to find out if  AR is the QB of the future is to play him. Do you want to find that out now or waste next year as well.
    • For perspective, Goodson had one run to the left that gained 33 yards. His other 7 carries were a 2.6 yd average. It's not talked about much, but Fries was having a pro-bowl year. He is going to be missed.
