Carrie to FS is a great concept. We haven't had a true FS since Mike Adams. Hooker came close but never played a full solid season...Our secondary plays like a bunch of SSs lol. Everyone can tackle Derrick Henry but can't cover a pass...

Top 5 this week: signed (Fisher), resigned (Smith, Hines), drafted (Paye), traded for (Wentz) this offseason. Here are the money for someone like Autry or Houston. Right here.

Not sure I'd look at it that way at all.

  • Wentz - costed us less than Rivers. IIRC, PR was 25M, Wentz about 21M this year, so we saved 4M in cash.
  • Paye is on a rook deal and likely costs less than half of what Autry would have costed us. So say average savings of 3.5M. Houston signed a low dollar deal this year and IIRC is making a little more than Paye's rook deal. So savings of total ~7M on DEs....
  • Hines has been hit or miss, and IMO, still isn't worth top 10 RB pay. Love him, but high price. But overall, we're still on the lower half of RB positional spending, so below average in total $ allocated towards RB. So not really stealing money from pot.

What is tilting things the most, is our #2 total spend on OL. But Fisher specifically was a 8-9M savings compared to Castonzo.

Good to see Eric Fisher starting to round into form. Patience was always going to be the key with him.

Agreed. I just hope his good grades aren't a product of weaker guys across the line. He'll see some pretty decent guys this week. If he doesn't get boat raced, I'm going to buy into the hype. I do feel for him as I think he was rushed back too soon.

I refuse to believe Ryan Kelly has been playing that poorly. Our offense line dominated that game and he gets graded between 50-55? Also, Danny Pinter scores a touchdown on a “trick” play so he scores a 77? Doesn’t make sense

Kelly has been getting bullied at times. Not horrible, but definitely not playing to his pay. A great example is when he and the RG were doubling Autry, the RG peeled off, and Autry abused Kelly and got to Wentz quickly (it's the play Wentz tossed the INT near the goal line).

It’s encouraging to see all trends are pointing up. I agree with another poster saying that the loss of Willis and Blackman are huge. Let’s hope that Paye Ian’s Dayo  round into form and become the quarterback maulers l we hope they would be

Willis and Blackman were both playing poor to mediocre. Blackmon was allowing a 135ish passer rating, Willis a 119. That's just not good. Blackman was leading DBs in missed Ts before he went out, and Willis was leading in TDs allowed. Sendejo has the best passer rating allowed of all of our DBs at 66.2. And he's been forced to play out of position. Odum is another story, but we all knew his limitations. He did have a good game two weeks ago though.

Sendejo strangely has a great passer rating allowed, and some missed Ts.

You are right. I just want to say, that with all that savings the Colts have just 2.4M cap space. And that 'savings' are playing well.

I agree to an extent. Wentz is playing well, so the QB position's net savings is great.

The savings along the DL however have not translated into same or better play. We have been worse from a pass rush perspective.

Fisher has been playing well the last couple games, but before that gave up 4 sacks, and was getting abused by good DLs. He hasn't been challenged by good comp lately, so let's hope his resurgence is due to good health, and not poor comp. He'll be tested a bit this week vs good, not elite comp. Overall, though, the OL has been up and down, yet paid near the top. Need them to get healthy and better.

We're halfway through the season, starting to see some "trends" and not just one game wonders. Wentz and Pittman are def top 10 material at their position stat wise. J Taylor is on pace to lead league with Henry out. Okereke, Leonard, Moore and Buckner are all top tier on defense stat wise.

Endless whining we didn't go out and sign in FA, not the right guys, not the right draft picks, not the right $$$. We ALL want to win now!!!!
Sorry, it's the NFL, teams, schedules, players, coaching, Always changing.
If you find your team in the playoff hunt come December it's a good season.
The GOAT Manning had 7 one and dones in the playoffs with the winningest 10 year period in the history of the NFL.
Getting all bent out of shape with our play early in this season, especially considering Wentz's lack of pre-season and ankle injury -  was thick headed, showed a lack of perspective.
Can't wait to see where we are at come December.
