can someone explain this rule ???

Unless I missed this , I though when a pass was deemed uncatchable or overthrown the PI would not going to be  called , has this rule been changed ?  On the Gathers play he had no chance of catching that ball  help me here please

I believe you’re correct that if the ball is viewed as uncatchable that PI will not be called.

 

But I think that play was closer than you remember...  that the pass may have been catchable and therefor it’s going to draw a flag.    I don’t recall the Cokts showing any real outrage, just disappointment.

Reich was on the field questioning the call as he should have the pass was not catchable TV angles may affect how it looked but live there is no question that was not a catchable pass .

I had a great angle and that ball was way overthrown

Refs are always going to give the benefit of the doubt to the offense in terms of it being a catchable ball.  

 

Best policy is to just not commit PI in the first place.

Even if it's uncatchable, you can still get flagged for defensive holding if the interference happens early. I don't think "catchable" has any influence on that.
