Colts Roster Situation

I'm trying to learn more about the rooster situation in Colts and since I haven’t followed the Colts for too long and not seen much of either them or the NFL in general, I thought to hear from you who have a better overview of the players. From what I've seen and read, this is my preliminary conclusions of the Colts players (who are under 30) future in the franchise.

I have used last year's rooster as a starting point and not taken into account FAs, I also only divided between starters and backup (I know some of the players which are categorized as backups here will play a lot even though they are not starters).

You’re Thoughts?

I didn't understand what you're talking about until I looked at the post again. It's "roster", not rooster.

As for your thoughts on the roster, not to much to disagree with. I don't think Jerry Hughes has shown anything to suggest that he'd be a starter in any system, although I do think he would be a better fit as a blitzing OLB. I also think Kavell Conner is starter material; he's played really well for us and is versatile enough to play OLB in a 4-3 or ILB in a 3-4. I don't think we should let Terrence Johnson go, either. It's hard for me to judge any of our defensive backs based on the way they've played the last two years. The scheme was ridiculous.

I also think Eric Foster is more than likely done.

Darren Evans could make the roster as a third or fourth back.

Everyone else is auxiliary and inconsequential, for the most part. We'll have an open competition for 25 roster spots this year.

    • I'm not panicked.  I'm resigned.  We expected AR to go through some growing pains.  We expected our DB's to be allowing anyone's grandmother to complete 70% of their passes.  But we didn't expect the strength of the team to be an historical weakness.  I do expect us to be under .500.  And I expect Ballard to say "That's on me" after the season.  The question is, will Irsay finally agree with him?
