Iowa DL Drew Ott

Drew Ott was a senior starter and Iowa's best DL. He now has the opportunity to show what hes got in the pros. What chance does he have as of right now of making it in the draft? I think he will be a plus player at the next level and should be a player we look at.

Huge Iowa fan here. I think Ott is going to be a stud at the next level, but I'm not sure how much of a fit he would be for us. Size-wise, he would be more of an OLB than DE in a 3-4, but I don't think he has the athleticism to play standing up. He'd be much better off going to a 4-3 team, where he can play with his hand in the dirt.

Unfortunately, Ott will likely go undrafted (I wonder if he is in Indy for the draft prospects medical rechecks today and tomrrow?) because of his ACL.  He will get signed as a UDFA if undrafted.  He will also probably end up on a roster if his knee is healthy by training camp.

 

Tough break for the guy- both his season ending ACL and the ungranted medical hardship red shirt.

I'm sure someone will take a flyer on him in the later rounds.  I don't feel like he fits our scheme very well. He's strictly a 4-3 DE. I don't think he has the athleticism needed for 3-4 OLB ie Werner. As an Iowa fan, best of luck to him.
