1^st Overall Pick – Houston Texans 

Teddy Bridgewater – Quarterback – Louisville

Bridgewater should be the first overall pick. The Texans are a quarterback away from making the playoffs, and Teddy Bridgewater is a good quarterback, to say the least. If they go quarterback, they need to go with Bridgewater. 

 

2^nd Overall Pick – St Louis Rams (from Washington Redskins)

Sammy Watkins – Wide Receiver – Clemson

The Rams improved on defense tremendously, but they lack playmakers on offense. Watkins is probably the best receiver to come out of college since AJ Green, and he is expected to be a star in this league. He’ll be Bradford’s go-to-guy for years.

 

3^rd Overall Pick – Jacksonville Jaguars 

Jadaveon Clowney – Defensive End – South Carolina

You can’t go wrong with Jadaveon Clowney. The Jaguars lack firepower on offense, but they lack a playmaker on defense, and Clowney can be a stud for 10 years in this league, and is probably the best player in this draft. They can’t go wrong with him.

 

4^th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns

Johnny Manziel – Quarterback – Texas A&M

I have Johnny Manziel at 4because the Browns need a quarterback badly, and Manziel is a playmaker. Having him and Josh Gordon on the field at the same time could be a deadly combination. He could be the guy that gets them over the hump.

 

5^th Overall Pick – Oakland Raiders

Blake Bortles – Quarterback – UCF

Bortles improved his stock with a great performance at the combine, and he could be the guy the Raiders need. It doesn’t seem like Terrelle Pryor is the answer, and Bortles could be the perfect quarterback that that offense needs.

 

6^th Overall Pick – Atlanta Falcons

Greg Robinson – Offensive Tackle – Auburn

The Falcons get the perfect pick here. Greg Robinson is the best offensive tackle in the draft, and showed his great athleticism at the combine. After a horrendous year on offense, thanks in large part to a terrible offensive line, this is the guy that helps the Falcons get back on track.

 

7^th Overall Pick – Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Jake Matthews – Offensive Tackle – Texas A&M

Matthews is right up there with Robinson for best tackle in the draft. Matthews has been a consistent rock for the last few seasons, and spent last season guarding Manziel’s blindside. He’s a great addition for a team that needs to rebuild on offense.

 

8^th Overall Pick – Minnesota Vikings

Justin Gilbert – Cornerback – Oklahoma State

I think Gilbert became the best cornerback in this draft with a fantastic performance at the combine. The Vikings need a playmaker in the secondary, and Gilbert could be that guy. I don’t think they should reach for Derek Carr here, but rather, add playmakers to their defense.

 

9^th Overall Pick – Buffalo Bills

Marqise Lee – Wide Receiver – USC

Marqise Lee is a perfect fit here. Who knows how many years Stevie Johnson has left in Buffalo, and Robert Woods doesn’t seem like a future #1 with that team. Lee could become the #1 target for EJ Manuel and help spread that offense.

 

10^th Overall Pick – Detroit Lions

Eric Ebron – Tight End – North Carolina

I’m not a big fan of drafting tight ends early, but Eric Ebron is a rare tight end. Ebron completely tore up the combine, and had a very productive season with UNC. He could be the perfect playmaker to compliment Calvin Johnson.

 

11^th Overall Pick – Tennessee Titans

Khalil Mack – Outside Linebacker – Buffalo

Yes, I have Khalil Mack over Anthony Barr. It’s a close call, but Mack gets the slight advantage. With the Titans switching to a 3-4, they’ll need a solid outside linebacker to get consistent pressure on the QB. Mack could get you 10 sacks this season.

 

12^th Overall Pick – New York Giants

CJ Mosley – Linebacker – Alabama

The Giants were lost this season, especially on defense. Defenses should be built around their linebackers, and the Giants don’t have good linebackers as it is. Mosley is the best inside linebacker in the country, and can become a great outside (or even inside) linebacker for them. He’s a tackling machine.

 

13^th Overall Pick – St Louis Rams

Darqueze Dennard – Cornerback – Michigan State

Cortland Finnegan didn’t do much this season, and who knows how many years he has left. There’s also a question mark around Janoris Jenkins. Dennard can come in and have an impact from day 1. This would be a great pick for the Rams. 

 

14^th Overall Pick – Chicago Bears

Ha’sean Clinton Dix – Safety – Alabama

The Bears haven’t had a good safety in several years. Major Wright was one of the worst starting safeties in the league last season. Clinton Dix was a playmaker with Alabama, and could be the perfect piece for this defense.

 

15^th Overall Pick – Pittsburgh Steelers

Aaron Donald – Defensive Tackle – Pittsburgh

The Steelers’ defensive line has regressed over the last few seasons, due to age and departures Drafting Donald could help rejuvenate that line, and could be a difference maker for years to come.

 

16^th Overall Pick – Dallas Cowboys 

Timmy Jernigan – Defensive Tackle – Florida State

The Cowboys are still trying to get comfortable in their 4-3 system, and they need more playmakers on that defense. They can add a big piece to their defense by drafting Jernigan, a difference maker who can come in and play right away. 

 

17^th Overall Pick – Baltimore Ravens

Mike Evans – Wide Receiver – Texas A&M

The loss of Anquan Boldin hurt the Ravens last season, and they lacked good receiving options outside of Torrey Smith. If the Ravens draft Mike Evans, they’ll give Joe Flacco a big target who can help Flacco out on a lot of plays (like he did for Manziel).

 

18^th Overall Pick – New York Jets

Anthony Barr – Outside Linebacker – UCLA

So, this is where Anthony Barr drops. Barr has fallen back a bit in the last couple of months, but the guy is ridiculously athletic (as seen at the combine), and can make some big plays. He’s still a bit raw, but with the right coaching, he’s a pro bowler.

 

19^th Overall Pick – Miami Dolphins

Taylor Lewan – Offensive Tackle – Michigan

Taylor Lewan had a fantastic combine, and is an experienced left tackle. The Dolphins have a terrible offensive line and who knows who will be manning the left tackle spot come next season. Lewan can come in and perform well right away.

 

20^th Overall Pick – Arizona Cardinals

Zack Martin – Offensive Tackle – Notre Dame

The Cardinals desperately need an offensive tackle. They’ve made the right move to shore up their interior offensive line, but now it’s time to fix the outside. Drafting Martin here would give them a huge boost on offense, and it’ll give Carson Palmer some time to throw the ball. 

 

21^st Overall Pick – Green Bay Packers

Lamarcus Joyner – Cornerback – Florida State

Tramon Williams is a good cornerback, but he has no one to compliment him. Lamarcus Joyner is a talented cornerback from Florida State and he can step up and become the perfect #2 cornerback to Williams. 

 

22^nd Overall Pick – Philadelphia Eagles

Louis Nix III – Defensive Tackle – Notre Dame

It’s hard to have a successful 3-4 defense without a strong nose tackle. The Eagles have built a decent defense, but they need that big body up the middle, and that’s exactly what Nix is, he’s a big guy who can plug up the middle and cause problems. 

 

23^rd Overall Pick – Kansas City Chiefs

Stephon Tuitt – Defensive End – Notre Dame

The Chiefs could use some help along their defensive line, and Tuitt could be the perfect man to help shore it up. Tuitt is a big guy, who has experience as a 3 tech and 5-tech defensive lineman. He could fit in well as a 3 tech next to Dontari Poe.

 

24^th Overall Pick – Cincinnati Bengals

Jordan Matthews – Wide Receiver – Vanderbilt

The Bengals could use a nice complimentary receiver to AJ Green. Jordan Matthews is a big body, and as we saw at the combine, is quite athletic as well. Matthews could give Andy Dalton another big target to throw to, and it could help him significantly, as he struggles when AJ Green is covered. 

 

25^th Overall Pick – San Diego Chargers

David Yankey – Offensive Guard – Stanford

The Chargers make a slight reach here with David Yankey, however, as we saw with the Cowboys last year, reaching is ok, and it could pay off big time. The interior offensive line of the Chargers is a question mark right now, and they could use a big body to help secure Phillip Rivers.  

 

26^th Overall Pick – Cleveland Browns (from Indianapolis Colts)

Calvin Pryor – Safety – Louisville

TJ Ward is a free agent this season, and they’ll need a guy to either replace or play next to him. Calvin Pryor is arguably the top safety in the class, and had a nice combine and a good final season at Louisville. He could be a nice player to bring into Cleveland. 

 

27^th Overall Pick – New Orleans Saints

Antonio Richardson – Offensive Tackle – Tennessee

Charles Brown was decent this year, but it’s clear they miss Jermon Bushrod. Antonio Richardson had a good final couple of seasons with the Volunteers, and seems like a good candidate to be Drew Brees’ blindside tackle. He’s athletic and has good footwork. 

 

28^th Overall Pick – Carolina Panthers

Kelvin Benjamin – Wide Receiver – Florida State

There seems to be a lot of hype around Kelvin Benjamin and I could kind of see it. He’s a big athletic body who was Jameis Winston’s favorite target last season. Brandon Lafell is a free agent this season and Steve Smith is getting old, which means they’ll need to bring in a young player for the future.

 

29^th Overall Pick – New England Patriots

Ra’shede Hagemen – Defensive Tackle – Minnesota

After Vince Wilfork went down early in the season, the Patriots used many players to try and fill his hole, but it was never the same. Wilfork is close to retirement, and they’ll need someone to replace him (and play next to him now), and that guy is Hagemen, who had a solid combine and an impressive career at Minnesota. 

 

30^th Overall Pick – San Francisco 49ers

Bradley Roby – Cornerback – Ohio State

Roby had a very impressive day at the combine, and exceeded expectations. Add the fact that he had a nice season and has great intangibles, and you could be looking at a first round pick. He could help the 49ers in their one area of weakness on defense. 

 

31^st Overall Pick – Denver Broncos

Jason Verrett – Cornerback – TCU

Verrett had an incredible combine, but it seems like no one is talking about him. Before the combine, he was most likely a 2^nd round pick, but after his great performance, don’t be surprised to see him sneak into the 1^st round. He could help the Broncos in an area they need a lot of help in. 

 

32^nd Overall Pick – Seattle Seahawks

Kony Ealy – Defensive End – Missouri

Who knows if Michael Bennett will be staying with the team, and the team just cut Red Bryant. The team could use a guy like Ealy, who had an impressive career at Missouri, and he would fit in very well with that defense.

I could see the Seahawks drafting a WR like Brandin Cooks but Ealy would be a great pick for them if Bennett decides to leave.

I don't see the Lions drafting a TE when they have a young talent like Joseph Fauria. And Lamarcus Joyner is not a first round talent. Niether is Antonio Richardson. There are some good picks here, but I'm not sure you really researched teams draft needs and where certain players are expected to go.

Nice mock man, I don't think that the Browns will take a safety though. They'll re-sign Ward, and they have Tashaun Gibson next to him. They'll probably go QB, WR in the first.
