Found this mock draft taking in account free agent targets

I'm not sure we could get all those guys for 35 mil.. I think it would be closer to 40+ mil. and that isn't even accounting for signing some of our own FA's or the draft picks. It would be nice to get all those guys, but I don't see it happening. IMO, they should take out Sammie Lee Hill and either of Jenkins or Williams(I don't see signing both).

I agree with Balzer, I don't think we can get all those players for $35 Mill, and certainly not less than that as the writer suggests.

My back of the napkin rough math has the figure north of $35 Mill.   And, as B noted,  that doesn't even leave anything for all the FA's from the Colts that we need to sign.   And we do need to sign a fair number of them.    That's what so many are forgetting.

The draft was interesting....   but I think too many are too optimistic about who we'll be able to take...    Just my hunch...

I`m sure we could get all those guys for $30M.
In an imperfect football world, that looks like a fine group to target.
I am a big enough dreamer that I can see the small possibility of it happening.
Of course there are a jillion other options, but this one is sound as the pound, and interesting, as they say.

Here is a very Interesting article about Accumulating players. Enjoy.

I'd like to see your math on that. I don't see any way on earth we could get all those guys 30 mil or 35 mil.(as the author of that article suggests). Like I said, just throwing reasonable numbers for each, I would come up with 40+ mil..

OF COURSE you might run out of the $35Million before you were to acquire all of the players on this Imaginary list.
And then again it COULD BE very close.

As an exercise, IF that was Grigsons List after his Teams exhaustive study, any differing thought that I might have as to those choices would be based on basically NO Information compared to his. Kind of a JOKE, IMO.

IMO, I would not want Mike Jenkins. #1 the paragraphs I have read about his attitude turns me off. #2 the Injuries.
Yet i have never met the guy, don`t really know what makes him tick. He might be a great guy, a hard worker, and suffered from some Bias from repoerters.
So, after Griggs gets the REAL skinny, and he wants the guy, I choose Griggs opinion and Jenkins is MY COLT!

The point I get from this guys list is, whatcha think of this guys choices? Who the heck is Sammy Lee Hill? Is he a NT or a DE for us? Well it doesn`t matter because in this case Griggs and Crew like him for Us, the end.

So all in all, it looks like a BUNCH of fine players, I think the guy came up with a insightful List that would make me pretty darn happy going forward.
I like his Draft list well enough I say put`em on the Field. These guys could turn into good Pro`s.

I read a mock Redo of last years draft of the 1st Rd.
It had at least 10 guys that WOULDN`T be taken in rd one on a Redo. Quite the crap-shoot really.
And no different with a FA.
Gooooooooooooooo Griggs and yur Scouts, cause I`m dreaming SB in 2014.
Of course probably more like 2015. ;)
:huthut:  Five seconds left in SB and we are on the 5yd line down by 4. Luck drops back, looks to his left, I`m standing in my living room bouncing up and down, yelling he`s open he`s open, throw the d*** ball, the hair on my arm is...
What the... the hair on your arm, tell me who caught the game winning TD you knucklehead.

Of course it was... Go  :coltslogo:

Interesting

I doubt we sign anywhere close to that many big names.

In any event, a WR in the 1st round??? In a draft that is top heavy in OL, DL, pass rushers, and cornerbacks, I'd be pretty disappointed if that happened.... Especially since the strength of this year's WR class is in the middle rounds. You could very feasibly grab a 2nd round WR talent in the 3rd or 4th rounds, since there isn't much of an appreciable drop off.

Nice...

In what I believe to be the most critical offseason the Colts have faced in memory, the moves Ryan Grigson orchestrates will determine our ability to become an elite team and Super Bowl contender. I think the real heavy lifting of talent procurement has to come in free agent signings, due both to the large pile of cash at hand, and a limited number of draft selections resulting from prior trades.

Free agent targets offense : Louis Vasquez - Guard ; Phil Loadholt - Tackle

Free agent targets defense : Paul Kruger - OLB ; Sammie Lee Hill - DE ; Mike DeVito - DE ; Mike Jenkins - CB; Cary Williams - CB

These acquisitions, if all sign with us, address three major areas of concern : Offensive Line; Defensive Front 7 ; Defensive secondary. And, I think all can be had for $35mil or a little less.

Now the Draft ;

1- DeAndre Hopkins- WR (Clemson) 6-1; 214; 4.4(40). - His analysis by DraftScout.com suggested he is the second coming of Reggie Wayne, and that's good enough for me. Hands, speed, toughness, route running all top shelf. Can separate and go over the middle. An excellent talent to groom and grow withAndrew Luck.

3- Baccari Rambo - FS (Georgia) 6-1; 211; 4.6(40) - Tough, athletic playmaker with excellent instincts, ball skills and a willing tackler that loves to deliver the big hit. Off-field issues (weed?) need addressing, but he no doubt has the skills to start early and compliment Bethea nicely.

4- Alvin Bailey - OG (Arkansas) 6-3; 312 ; 4.95(40) - Massive body, athletic enough to pull, nasty run blocker with skillset to be a decent pass blocker. In keeping with Grigson's philosophy that O-linemen ought not to start right away, Bailey could back up Reitz until such time he beats Reitz out or Reitz sustains his inevitable injuries.

6- Earl Wolff - SS (N.C. State) - 5-11 ; 209 ; 4.44(40) - Slightly under the radar player. Tough, instinctive playmaker. Excels in run stopping, but also is athletic enough to cover backs and tight ends in the slot. Has starting ability in the long-term, and an upgrade to special teams in the near-term.

7- Knile Davis - RB (Arkansas) 5-11; 227; 4.45(40) - Ankle injury has slowed him in 2012, but has power and speed to go with fine hands and good pass-blocking. This is a "flyer" pick to be sure. If he falls this far in the draft, he would be a cheap gamble with potential to be a nice addition to our stable of backs.

While the Colts may receive a compensatory pick or two, I have only dealt with the picks I know of at this point. I view free agency and the draft itself as complimentary modes of talent procurement . Veteran corners plus rookie safeties. Veteran Offensive linemen plus a talented rookie. Veteran Defensive linemen plus Chapman returning from injury. An offensive weapon with the 24th pick to round out Andrew's arsenal of weaponry and to grow into the future together. A "flyer" 7th round gamble on a running back.

    • Heard Kevin Bowen and James Boyd on the radio saying Pierce was working with special teams if you and wondering how the WR2 battle is going early.
    • I'm a huge Georgia fan and let me tell you that he was loved and adored by the fanbase, the players and the coaches.   There was never any word of AD having a bad attitude or being a me first player.  I can tell you that is complete nonsense.   Kirby Smart (the HC at Georgia) runs a very tight ship.  He wants team players first.  He always emphasizes T-E-A-M.  Players with bad attitudes are left on the bench or better hit the transfer portal.  In fact, he often starts the 3 star or 4 star player over the 5 star player if they give more effort and hustle.   AD was instrumental in helping Georgia win back to back National Championships and when he wanted to transfer, he told us he wanted to be closer to his daughter in Texas.  So Georgia fans gave him their blessing.  Trust me when I tell you we are not always that gracious.   He is a big time player that makes big plays in the most critical moments in the game.  I already posted the Ohio State game where he made the game winning catch eliminating Ohio State.  That was the CJ Stroud big scramble at the end game.   But one of the biggest plays in Georgia history was the 2021 National Championship game.  Georgia was on their way to losing 8 straight times to Alabama.  For whatever reason Alabama was the hump that Georgia could not get over.   Then with 8:15 left in the game with dejected Georgia fans facing sure defeat at the hands of Alabama again, Stetson Bennett throws a 50 yard bomb to AD Mitchell.    Look at the way he tracks the ball.  The ball was slightly underthrown, so AD had to come back for it.  Then after AD catches it the Alabama DB tries to rip the ball away on the ground, but AD held on !!!  This is a legendary moment in Georgia Football !
    • Someone get this egotistical * off the force... The face of a smug, jackwagon.
    • Mark Gastineau might have something to say about that, lol!  I agree with all of the above as it was frustrating at times.
    • The site I go through (I am not allowed to mention in here because of Forum rules even though legal of course) is Boston is a -225 to win the series. So, to answer your question, it is for all marbles, not just 1 game. I knew Boston would be favored but I was thinking more on the lines of -100 to maybe -130 at most. Boston is a tad deeper and they have HCA is why I understand them being favored but at -225, I can't pass on that. Luka Doncic has the been the best player period during the playoffs and on any list he is a top 5 player with Joker and Giannis factored in. This will be the 1st series that Tatum has played in where he isn't the best player. IMO, Brown just is great as Tatum is, he has proved that time and time again every year during the playoffs. No one player can stop Irving from scoring either. Where Dallas is being overlooked by the media and Boston fans is, their Big's are more physical than Boston's in Lively and Gafford where the Pacers were a finesse team. To beat Boston, you have to get physical. Pj Washington can match anything Al Horford does as well from 3. Dallas has played great defense the whole playoffs, I have watched them close. I also think Kidd is the better coach.   Look at the path that Dallas had to take to get to the Finals compared to Boston's path. Best team Boston beat was our Pacers and 3 of those games could have gone either way, also Haliburton was out in Games 3 and 4. Boston beat Miami and Cleveland, arguably the 2 worse teams in the playoffs. Dallas beat a talented Clippers team, beat #1 seeded OKC without HCA, and just beat Minnesota without HCA who beat Denver.
