A few new JT trade ideas

A few trade ideas after week 4

trade idea 1

Jonathan Taylor, Grover Stewart and 2024 3rd round pick

For

Chris Jones DT

Logic: We seen the Chefs move on from corner stone players before (trading Dee Ford, releasing Frank Clark and trading Hill).

Jonathan Taylor adds a different dynamic to their offense and Grover will have big shoes to fill but will be a solid addition to their line. This moves opens up $ for a team thats seem to be a perennial Superbowl contenders who can get those ring chasers for cheap.

Colts Logic: Chris Jones and DeForest Buckner is a no brainer. The defense should jump into the top 12 to 8 with the pressure we put on the QBs. AR rookie contract should balance out Jones contract for the next 3 or 4 years.

Trade option 2

Jonathan Taylor

For

Antonio Gipson RB and Curtis Samuels WR

Commanders Logic: After drafting Doctson, Samuels became redundant. Having a 1, 2 punch of JT and Brian Robinson Jr. should make the most dangerous backfields in the NFC East.

Colts Logic: Getting AR some help/weapons. Gipson isn't Jonathan Taylor but his pass catching ability should help. Samuels is a weapon that can line-up in the backfield or as a WR.

Trade option 3

Jonathan Taylor and Mo Alie-Cox

For

Tyler Boyd WR and Lael Collins G/T

Bengals logic: JT can be Mixon replacement but in the meantime they both can run through the AFC north. JT extension should be less than Boyd and Mo Alie-Cox can be used as a extra lineman to keep Joe up and healthy.

Colts Logic: AP preseason have me wanting more out of a no. 2 WR. Boyd one year give us a chance to evaluate both him and MPJ. Collins should be great depth and if healthy pushing at RG.

Your trade option 2 isn't too farfetched but I would personally tweak it.  I agree with targeting Antonio Gibson who could be a short-term replacement for Jonathan Taylor and his pass-catching abilities is a big plus.  Instead of WR Samuels I would much rather add another player with a contract also set to expire at the end of this season in SS Kamren Curl.

Blackmon is a FA and hasn’t lived up to the hype and expect him to go unsigned.  Washington has plenty of cap space to sign multiple players. Curl is a former seventh-round pick in 2020.  He replaced an injured Landon Collins as a rookie and posted top-10 grades as a run defender (80.5) and in coverage (80.8) in 2022.  Curl often manned the box and helped take away running backs and tight ends as mismatch options. He posted a 4.7% missed tackle rate (sixth) while acting as a second linebacker.

After the first week of NFL in the books am very happy with our DL and LB play going forward.  On defense big questions remain around our defensive backs.  Adding a player like Curl and extending his contract is key.  In the draft I would pair Kamren with another stud safety named Kamren Kinchens (Miami) who plays free safety.

The only other trade that I wouldn't mind is negotiating with Miami for RG Robert Hunt.  He had career highs in 2022 with both a 74.6 PFF pass-block grade and a 74.5 PFF run-blocking grade.  For 2023 PFF ranked him 17th best overall guard.  This would help improve our offensive line and extend Hunt's contract immediately.  In the draft would hope that Troy's Kimani Vidal declares early and is available to us in Round 2.

I don't see the Colts trading for players at this point in the season.

Honestly - I think Jonathan Taylor suits up for the Colts to PROVE SOMETHING to himself - the Colts - and - the NFL about his value.

Right now - he's coming off a serious injury - hasn't played a snap in months - and - can't lean on a resume long term.

Hopefully he's had an "attitude adjustment" after finding out that his "Oscar the Grouch" demeanor didn't play well with the team - or - the fans.

WR Chase Claypool is a healthy scratch today for the Bears.  They traded for him at the deadline last year to give Fields another weapon.  He’s not happy in Chicago and is not in good graces with the coaching staff.  I wonder if they will offer him up to the Colts as part of a trade for acquire JT.  Ballard was interested in a receiver from the Dolphins and Packers when they were talking.

Claypool has now played his way out off of two teams….    Pittsburgh and Chicago.   I doubt either franchise would give him a glowing recommendation.   Plus, he plays X, where Pittman plays.

Im not saying the Colts would have zero interest, but for right now, Claypool not be a key component in any trade.   He’d be closer to a throw in.   Just sayin…

    • Well, as QB he kinda sucked in college, and he had only 4 games last year which really means nothing, so I haven't seen much progress beyond suck so far.  I can't think of any excuse that would mitigate that conclusion.   But he should continue to play, because it was never thought this team is that good, so its not like playing him hurts anything.
    • I might have been disappointed in the 0-2 start but it wasn’t because of AR. It was the vets  on defense. We have to see where we are by mid season. I just want to see him improve each game. AR projectory is a year behind now beached of the injury. Ideally he would have played last season then this season colts would have made the playoffs. Then by his third year he would be elite. Same projectory Allen took.    Thd only thing that will disappoint me this season is the vets on this team underperforming. Or the secondary being horrific because Ballard didn’t do anything.
    • This has been a problem since 1984 and you think it would’ve gotten better in all that time. The number one problem is that Colts season ticket holders like to make money on their tickets and this is the problem because Steeler fans and other well traveled fan bases will pay a lot of money. These are not true Colts fans if you had financial issues, you couldn’t afford your season tickets so don’t complain that you’re selling your tickets to be able to afford things, it’s about selling out the team. This may sound harsh, but it’s the truth and I wish it would stop.
    • Richardson missed most of the 2023 season, so of course he is rusty at times.  I think he has played well despite some inconsistencies. There probably would  be critics even if Richardson took the Colts to the SB and had a perfect QB rating. Some people will be negative no matter what.
    • You've been defending and supporting Anthony all season long so far, and I am freaking here for it.   Please keep that side of positivity going. It's really all we have at the moment is just hope that this all works out in the long run.
