You put us on the map both on and off the field. People who don't really follow football have a great admiration of your leadership, humour (ads) and the way you were a role model. We had opposing team fans talk highly about us because of your dedication and being a model professional. As a Colt fan back in the days, I will say that you outdid Johnny U.  Congrats.

I would say he outdid Johnny U in reference to being more visible in the off season, but only because there is so much more a sports personality can do.  Media appearances back in his day were some sponsor shots and commercials with a possible guest shot on Carson or Cavett, etc.  Athletes today have followers on social media while vacationing, haha.  No way Johnny had that exposure.

 

The expression “different era” definitely applies here.

 

From what I remember of him Johnny U also had a different personality.  He was more blue collar and not as flashy in the spotlight as Peyton.  Though having said that, there aren’t many personalities like Peyton, so no argument there!
