I know this sounds silly for a long snapper but he better show marked improvement this year.  last year his snaps were slow and on PATs/FG off the mark.

And not to say he won't improve... it's like anything else, it takes practice.... lots and lots of practice.

I don’t really have feelings about this. But FYI, he has been putting in off-season work with Rigo, practicing snaps and “building chemistry.” Rigo has been posting Instagram videos of them working out and practicing punts together. :gym:

I figured he was a professional.  As a former long snapper and someone who coaches our long snappers it's just something I noticed.

That kid (Sanchez) was one of the biggest bright spots for us last year.  I'm glad he and Rhodes are working together.

I wonder if they're working on fakes (please, no).

In all fairness he was brought to the team as a LB, and took over full time LS duties when they traded the LS during training camp.  The fact that he didn't send any past Rigoberto while punting or holding, and didn't get any penalties that I can recall I consider that a huge success.

All true.  That is not why I was knocking him nor indicating the Colts should replace him just that he needs to get better because last year he was not a good longsnapper.  There were quite a few PATs/FGs that were saved because Sanchez has excellent hands.

    • Paye had 700 total snaps (287 run, 410 pass) and had 28 total pressures. Lewis had 437 total snaps (178 run, 259 pass) and had 44 total pressures.   According to PFF* Lewis had 248 true pass rush sets and Paye had 393. From the left side (LOLB, LEO and LE) they had 158 and 363 pass rush sets respectively. In Lewis' 158 sets he had 32 total pressures (4 sacks, 5 hits and 23 hurries). In Paye's 363 sets he had 27 total pressures (7 sacks, 2 hits and 18 hurries).   In less than half the snaps Lewis had more total pressures from the same edge as Paye.   *PFF has the numbers. I encourage anyone and everyone interested in this or anything else football-statistics related to sign up!
    • I think this data set is a bit misleading due to the amount of snaps these guys are playing. I’m almost certain that Kwity played almost 300 more snaps than Lewis had. Also Lewis moves around the line a lot while Kwity played exclusively on the edge. So it’s more so about him doing the job he’s asked, now I’m not saying that Kwity would have the same effectiveness as Lewis had they moved him around similarly but we don’t know that he wouldn’t.
    • To be honest no, you got to be realistic his replacement was drafted pretty high. You don’t have a guy like that sitting on the bench being a career backup. Also Kelly is up there in age and his body only has so many seasons left in the tank. Tbh I fully expect Kelly to retire at seasons end. The Colts will get younger at Center and save on cap by not extending him. Keep in mind they need to prepare for several big contracts that are to come.
