Exploring other trade options

Recommended Posts

Everybody and their mother is discussing a trade with the Bills.

What about other teams though?

Clearly the Dolphins and Cardinals will be interested in trading up too.

What would you want from both teams?

If we are trading to 15 to Cards I want their 2019 1st too.

Great question

Its a moot point if the premier QBs are all off the table before we pick........  if that happens draft Chubb

However, if Chubb is gone, I am listening to ANY decent offer at 6

Nelson is awesome, but to me, not at 6.there are folks like Price, who is not very far from Nelson, that can

push the pile, and protect the QB..........  Nelson is better, but if they BOTH keep Luck upright, and BOTH can open running lanes, why would I use an extremely early pick on Nelson?

I also dont like Barkley this early.  The shelf life on most RBs is SO SHORT. There are REALLY good players at RB that will be available with our last pick in round 2.

Possible trade partners, Colts "value" at 6 (according to "the" chart) is 1600

Possible Partner 1

Buffalo

Picks 12, 22

Pick 12 is 1200, pick 22 is 780 - total is 1980

According to the chart, this is a really good deal for the Colts

We could get 2 very good starters, with this pick and still have our 3 seconds

My hopeful picks would be

Trumaine Edwards

Maurice Hurst

I get my MLB and a DT penetrator that help get the new 4-3 working

I think BOTH have a decent chance to be pro bowl players

If Edwards is gone in this scenario, I am grabbing the best pass rusher available, Harold Landry

with that 12 pick.

It may be 2-5 picks early for Landry, but the guy is very much in the Freeney/ Mathis type of player

(of course not at the same level.... yet ;) ) Landry led the combine with the 3 cone.

16.5 sacks the year before. 2017 had foot injury, with a shortned season

Watch his game tape. If he is somehow still on the board at 22, (after a Edwards pick)

I am running to the podium with the card

Possible Partner 2

Miami

Pick 11

Pick 11 is 1180 pts, round 2 pick is worth 470 pts intial total is 1650

On the surface this is close, I would want next years #2 to make this worthwhile

With pick 11, I choose Trumain Edwards,

With just the second round, I now have FOUR decent opportunities to get good players

We could get our RB, OG, OT, LB to actually start

This sets up 2019 draft to also be strong oppry for Colts (3 2nd rounders)

Possible Partner 3

Arizona

Pick 15

Pick 15 is worth 1050pts, 2nd round pick is worth 430 Inital total is worth 430.

Initial total is 1490

They would need to offer a next years first round to make this work for me

My pick at 15 - Harold Landry

I get my 4 picks in round 2, to put 4 quality people in areas of need

This also builds for the future, as we would have 2 number ones in 2019 and 2 2nds.

We have all seen that about half of the first rounders turn out to be differnce makers........

More picks from a good group of players equates to better odds of getting a playmaker

We are in a rare situation where we have multiple good choices

Its like choosing of 10 flavors of ice cream on a 100 degree Texas day

Its ALL good!

Happy Easter!

Deano

Lastly, the folks that ask for 2 firsts, 2 seconds for the Bills, are probably not going to be happy.

Everyone has limits.

A "good" deal for the Colts may be available

A "steal" deal PROBABLY isnt going to occur

And........   I dont imagine any of these things are going to happen until draft day

I put the odds of a first round trade as somewhat low at this point (We may get some offers for round 2 picks)

Did I mention.... watch the Landry tapes???  :)

It SOLD me
