6 out of first 8 is the other pattern besides NFC East

You all guys know the pattern that the SB winner since 2006 has played the NFC East and the Patriots in the regular season (Broncos are only one to do so this year).

Add to it, that all teams that have won the SB have also won at least 6 out of their first 8 games.

Let us see, when did this talk about teams going in hot come about, mostly talking heads. A lot of wild card teams probably lead to this talk.

2005 Steelers (first wild card team to win it all) - Big Ben and the Steelers were leading 7-2, then stumbled and lost 3 games straight when Big Ben was injured and Maddox kept losing, then won 4 straight to finish 11-5 and had a sixth seed with the Bengals winning the division.

2006 Colts - started strong 9-0, then stumbled to go 12-4, made a run in the playoffs, won it all

2007 Giants - They were 6-2, had their November stretch, then ended up with ups and downs and managed to make the playoffs as a #5 seed 10-6, rest is history

2009 Saints - Started 13-0, lost last 3, then went on a run to win it all

2010 Packers - They were 7-3, then stumbled to go 10-6, made the playoffs, and made their run

2011 Giants - Started 6-2 again, stumbled in November again to 6-6, and made the playoffs as first 9-7 team to win it all

2012 Ravens - Started 9-2, stumbled to go 10-6, and went on a roll in the playoffs

MORAL OF THE STORY - start strong but have a bump or two on the road in the second half of the season but make the playoffs as division winner or wild card, you stand a GOOD chance. You have to start strong to have enough equity in the bank to survive the bumps in the road, whenever they may come. So, stop believing the talking heads that a team has to be hot going in and look at history to become more informed. th_smile.gif

Getting hot IN THE PLAYOFFS once you get there, not being hot going into the playoffs is WAY MORE IMPORTANT.
