It’s very much an us vs. them mentality. Except in this case people have put their stock in either Levis or AR and supporting or detracting the other is offensive.

Egos are way too inflated around here nowadays.

Exactly. You and I see it the same way, probably because our work involves working with people. (Part of my work involves studying human behavior.)

What you wrote is what people often do and they look for evidence/stats/information to support what they believe and ignore what does not.

I think it was about some of the pro AR folks exaggerating negatives about Levis.  I'm not a Levis supporter in wishing at this point he was on the Colts, but I don't think its fair to type misleading things about Levis just to support AR.   At least that's what my posts were point out.

Isn't that what fans of teams do? Aaron Rodgers is one of the best QBs. He will be a first ballot NFL Hall of Fame inductee. Vikings fans always seemed to highlight the negatives in his game (which were/are very few, if any) and find every reason to knock him or how he plays. It is what fans do. If I was vociferously defending him, other Vikings fans might wonder what is behind my reaction.

My having said that does not mean that I agree with those who did not think Levis played well. I actually think they thought he played well. What was not to like? An interception at the end of the game does not affect my impression that he played well.

It’s not a setting, it’s a glitch in the cached files. I ended up signing out completely from all browsers, then clearing the cache on each and then logged back in, that fixed the issue.

interestingly enough, I have to do the same thing now with NFL+ and NFL dot com. About every other week, I suddenly can’t see the home pages on either of those and it’ll only load the standings pages. Same process seems to fix that .

Okay. I have had to do that with other sites. Thank you.

For the most part I agree with this. It is hard to lump certain people in with others though. Although it is tough to find anything real positive about the team right now, I will always be what I call - A TrueFan. I was a fan when the Colts moved here so I know real bad from 1984-1986, 1991 too. If I had to put a % on our fanbase being spoiled or entitled it would be around 50%. 50% is still a big number because that is half our fanbase. Peyton and Luck spoiled them is why. Now when things are going bad they can't handle it or get real negative about the team. It is what it is brother. I am grateful that the Colts won a SB in my lifetime here in Indianapolis (2006). Many fanbases do not know the feeling = Titans, Texans, Jags, Chargers, Browns, Bengals, Bills, Panthers, Falcons, Lions, Vikings, and Cards. Those 12 teams have never won a SB. Even dynasty teams like the Cowboys and 49ers, haven't won a SB in nearly 30 years. Jets haven't won one since 1968 - that was before I was born.

I think that some folks that join forums seem to do so to find a place to air their frustrations, grievances, disappointments, etc. They are often the "loudest" and others believe they speak for the entire fan base. They don't.

Most fans support their teams. There is a quiet majority that rarely post comments but still support their team.

I’ll be at the game in Charlotte.  I can’t imagine there’ll be too many of us Colts’ fans in attendance.  I’ll give some feedback.

Someone created a thread about this game. A few of you are going. You can PM each other (send personal message here) and make a point to meet each other. It should be fun.

I twice went to Colts games at Met Life Stadium. I asked a few people sitting around me if they were members of the forum. No one was.  I went to a Vikings game at Met Life and met one of the members/writers of the Vikings site I follow. It was fun.

    Enjoy the game.

    Thanks for the invite.

Thank you. I wonder if you do not have access to the polls. I put up a multiple choice poll up top. @csmoparonce told me that he had never seen a poll. I wonder if it is something with the settings. I think he was able to fix the problem..

I just said that his stat line was bad this week, and it's what I expect from him going forward. Supposed Colts fans on here were acting like he had a good week somehow. He could improve for sure, but his clock is already shorter than ARs due to his age.

This forum always gets weird when the Colts are on a losing streak(not you in particular). Half this thread read like Titans fans the way they support Mr.Mayo over AR, so pardon me for defending the Colts player on the Colts forum in a thread comparing QBs lmao.

I think that is what @2006Coltsbesteverwas doing too -- supporting a Colts player. I was a bit surprised how angry some became when some Colts fans said anything half-way negative about Levis. One would believe they would have that same level of emotion defending a player on the team they root for, not someone on an opposing team.

I thought Levis played well despite ilthe interception. I thought Richardson played well in all his games. I have not seen Stroud. I have seen Young; he has not looked as good as the others but I believe he will improve. I hope my rookie QB (Jaren Hall) will show as much poise as the top four QBs taken. But he is a rookie.

I don't think NFL owners and GMs believe the ol third times the charm saying, so I will say he's done as a head coach.

His only chance is with the Pats. Maybe Edelman, Gronk, and Brady come out of retirement at age 50 or so, and demand he be their head coach.

    That would be hilarious. haha

Be sure to vote in the poll.

Yes, I think that’s possible, but Kraft might be pretty cautious to hire JM as the next HC.    It’s one think to hire JM as an OC, but HC?    So soon?    I think Kraft would be extra extra careful about that.

I think other people who could be candidates would be Bill O’Brien,  Denico Ryan in Houston, and maybe even Mike Vrabel.    Just thinking out loud.

I thought Mike Vrabel might be the next Patriots head coach if the Titans let him go. I believe he is a good head coach, much more of a leader and head coach material than McDaniels. I am not a fan of O'Brien but he had success with the Texans. I can't see Kraft selecting McDaniels over those two.

Yes. Once Belichick gets fired or retires, he will get hired one last time as the Pats HC.

I thought that and mentioned it earlier but he failed so miserably in each place. He did not even complete 2 full seasons with the Raiders. I think Kraft or anyone else would be making a mistake. He has never had success as head coach.

Haha my bad. I've been offline a bit lately from the forum, some of the main pages have been annoying me.

And ya your GM was also getting investigated for manipulating the IL.

And honestly counsel as annoying as he is, would be a good hire for you guys. He gets the most out of his team every year no matter how low pay they are.

And likely to still be big spenders with Cohen as owner no matter what

    Welcome back! :)

I read about the investigation. How does one manipulate the IL?

I hope the Mets go on a youth movement.

    Enjoy the offseason.

Note: I removed comments from the last baseball thread and moved them to this thread (2004 Baseball). Off-season moves for the coming season are found in this thread.

  12. Does anyone think that McDaniels will be given another opportunity to be a head coach? I wonder if the Patriots will hire him to take over for Bill Belichick. I think it is likely.

@Zoltan  Would you mind it if I added a poll question to this thread?

Either way hopefully other folks get a shot at HC jobs and this guy doesnt keep getting these chances.

Hopefully they give the interim head coach Antonio Pierce a greater shot than they did Rich Bisaccia. I thought I recognized the name Antonio Pierce. He played here, with the Giants. He was a leader when he was with the Giants. Do you think he can be a leader of men as head coach.

It’s his accuracy, his senior year, he’s better than most all the QBs ahead of him with a far weaker supporting class, and his work ethic. He’s a much better pocket passer though and in this day and age, pure pocket passers aren’t all the rage. But if a team is patient with him, I think I’m three years time, he could be the next Drew Brees for whatever team gives him that chance.

Are you saying that his accuracy and work ethic are reasons that he was not drafted higher?

I would think Kevin O'Connell would have pressured the GM to draft his cousin if he is that good.

I had Aiden as my dark horse candidate for being the best QB out of all this class. I’m watching to see how he does.

Wow. I wonder why the Vikes did not draft him? Fear of accusations of nepotism? He is the head coach's cousin. He is Kevin O'Connell's younger cousins.

  16. 6 minutes ago, RollerColt said:

I liked it too. But I think Fields will retake the starting role once he’s healed. Meanwhile, Garappolo is most likely done (benched on his bday… how cold) and Cousins is out for the year.

I think we should keep it at the 4 QBs that had the chance to be drafted by the Colts. I don't think the Colts would have drafted Hall or O'Connell or Bagent. However, if many people want to add them, I guess we can. I think the thread will be too big.

Btw, I think Clayton Tune will be the QB in Arizona now.

People put too much into stats and pff! If a lb leads the team in tackles, but 90% are 5-10 yards down field, that’s not a good lb.

People put too much value into volume stats without context. I'm not crazy about PFF but it gives you a more objective way to judge how someone played. So, I can appreciate it. Volume stats are just that -- volume stats that don't say how someone got those stats.

I would rather a RB who gets positive yardage every carry rather than one that gets 80 yards on one carry and negative yards/short yards in all other carries. They both may get 100 yards, but the one that got positive yardage most of his carries is more efficient.

I did see the game. A passer rating of 66.4 for 221 yards, 0 TDs and 1 Int to lose the game was what I imagined Levis to do for the most part lol.

AR also has a higher completion percentage than Levis at this point (59.5% vs 56.4%) , and that was supposedly his biggest negative coming into the draft.

They are rookies. Fans are too critical of players, especially QBs. They will get better with practice and play.

Yes I did, I think you have said it a lot.

But that doesn't answer my question as to whether or not you think that the statement "threw a pick to lose the game" is a sincere description of what happened if someone watched the game?

No, that is not accurate. He played to win. I would rather someone throw an interception than keep the ball or make a safe play that is guaranteed to lose the game.
