The good news is the Cubs are now in 2nd place regarding the NL Central. The bad news is, they are still only 62-64 and almost have no chance at a Wildcard.

At this point. I think everyone in the division not named the Brewers will end up tying for last place. Probably will be around 78-80 wins.

I’m done with the Reds. Go Dodgers or something…

Cubs are playing great right now and are 68-66. Problem is, it's a bit too late. They should have been playing this most of the year. The last 3 weeks is what I envisioned the Cubs being this season. They only have themselves to blame for a putrid June and July. Braves own that last wildcard spot and I don't see them blowing a 6 game lead.

Red's entire starting lineup is jacked with injuries and all 4 of our top starting pitchers are also on IL...

There's just nothing to be done with the team for the final month. Just coast and get it over with. Another year at the bottom of the division...

It's a wide open league right now. Any team that makes the playoffs can win it all.

I'm putting my Reds in the range of 80-95 wins this season. I think that's reasonable with the young talent.

I ended up being close, but overestimated the team.

If Colts fans want to see what true bad ownership and bad management looks like, look no further than the lowly Reds.

30 years. 30 YEARS… since they’ve won a playoff series and advanced to the next round. The longest drought in all of sports.

12 years since they won a playoff game…

Meanwhile, the Dodgers have bought themselves a 12th consecutive ticket to the playoffs.

Mets at Braves doubleheader tomorrow - if both teams win 1 of the games, they both win Wild Cards (Braves #5 seed, Mets #6) and defending National League Champion Diamondbacks are eliminated.

If either team wins both games, the other is eliminated and the Diamondbacks go to Milwaukee as the # 6 seed, while the team that swept is the # 5 and goes to San Diego.

I have not followed all year. My brother sent me a text message that the Mets are in, as they won the first game.

You are a Padres fan, right?

Pete Rose died too. @RollerColt @2006Coltsbestever

RIP Pete.

He's got more hits, plate appearances and a few other stats than anyone who has ever played the game. He belongs in Cooperstown but they were never going to let him in to enjoy it while he was alive but now that he's not anymore, there is no real justification for continuing to keep him out.

He'll never sign a picture or memorabilia  with the initials "HOF" after his name like others do but we'll see if MLB does the right thing now, I think they'll announce it after the World Series is finished.

I agree. I sent this same message to someone else. It is too bad that Rose could not enjoy it when he was alive. I recall Former Commissioner Fay Vincent being adamant about keeping Rose out of Hall.

I am and eagerly await the Braves tomorrow night.

Good luck. I have not followed baseball at all this year. All I know is that the White Sox were bad. I saw many articles about the White Sox.

Maybe I will watch the Mets tomorrow. I used to be a huge Mets fan. I don't like signing all these free agents. I wish Ballard was the Mets GM. Lol. I like to draft, develop and re-sign my own players.

Mets have had a good season. That should be a great series vs the Brewers.

The White Sox were historically bad this year, they lost 121 games, the worst in the modern era, surpassing the 1962 Mets who lost 120 games.

The Padres swept them in San Diego the weekend before last but they were all hard fought games, the first of which we had to walk off in the 10th inning. They didn't lay down, and made us work hard for every victory but in the end they just didn't have the "horses" to compete with us, especially in their bullpen.

Well, Atlanta may go down in flames to the Padres, but it will have been a season to remember.  MVP Acuna - lost for the season; CY Young potential starter Strider - lost for the season.  All-Star 3d Baseman Riley - lost for the last two months of the season; All-Star Shortstop Ozzie Albies missed two months; and now probable CY Young winner Chris Sale will likely miss the Wild Card Series with San Diego.

Wow.

Wow.

Atlanta is very beat up, and missing several of their stars. With Chris Sale not even on the Wild Card roster, Manager Brian Snitker was forced to trot out a guy who was making only his 2nd MLB start he lasted 1 & 1/3rd, giving up 4 hits & 3 runs, to include a homerun. Padres starter Michael King, a converted relief pitcher who was also making his 1st postseason start, was masterful. He pitched 7 shutout innings, scattering 5 hits but not walking a batter, while striking out 12, one shy of his career high for a game. Oddly enough, King's only other postseason appearance was for the Yankees during the shortened Covid season, in San Diego wirth cardboard cutouts in the stands. The atmosphere at Petco Park was raucous, and the team fed off it. Two of the biggest pieces that the Padres acquired from the Yankees in the Juan Soto trade, King & catcher Kyle Higashioka came up big today, King with his performance on the mound and Higashioka accounted for half of the the Padres runs with a solo homerun and a sacrifice fly.

It's been a rough couple of weeks for me. Lost a good friend in North Carolina because of the terrible flash flooding. Our house had some damage as well from the winds. A tree fell over into my in-law's house and caused some bad damage.

The news of Pete Rose just kind of... broke me. Just been too much sadness lately. RIP Charlie Hustle. Got to meet him several times over the years in Riverfront stadium and of course Great American Ball Park.

I don't think his accomplishments will ever be repeated.

Take care everyone.

Sorry to hear about all this bad news. This terrible weather is hurting so many people. Just awful. I'm thinking and praying for you.

RIP Pete Rose.

@NFLfanfor all the marbles, win or go home, Mets at Brewers tonight. What I don't get is, this dumb playoff format. So, the Mets make the playoffs and don't even get a home game. By winning Game 1 and with the series at 1-1, Game 3 should be at NY.

I think Game 2 should have been in NY to give the higher seeded team home-field advantage but it is hard to play 3 games in 3 days at different stadiums.

With all the bad things happening everywhere, it is hard to focus on sports. I will watch.

In a best out of 3 series that may not even go that long, it makes better sense (financially and in general) to play all the games in the city of the higher seed. Otherwise, the Braves or Mets would have to play on the east coast Monday, on the west coast on Tuesday, back out east on Wednesday, and back to the west coast Thursday if necessary - the logistics of that would be nightmarish, the airfare & hotels alone would cost a mint and it would wear everyone involved totally out!

After 6 scoreless innings by both teams, the Brewers got back-to-back homeruns (on consecutive pitches) and led 2-0 going into the 8th inning.

With 1 out in the 9th and 2 on, Pete Alonzo hit a 3 run homerun and the Mets now lead 3-2.

    • They need to beat jags and titans . They will be in good shape if they can. Then a lifeless dolphins team comes to town. After that the schedule is ridiculous but hopefully we will have Buckner back by then and are healthier, right now just beat jags and titans.
    • Flacco gives us a better chance of winning than a guy who has about a 50% chance of starting and finishing any game. Whoever dreamed up the saying that the most important ability is availability could have been thinking of AR. It’s one thing to have receivers and running backs having to rotate out after hits. They won’t get paid if they slide every time a hit is coming. But we are talking about the most important position on the field and for some reason AR doesn’t understand that avoiding hits is an important part of the qb job description.
    • 😁 just amazing. I realize we need RB help if Taylor sits but I sure would never release Schrader
    • Both would be excellent additions.     My mind want to keep going back to last year and talks of draft a TE in R1.  Same gut feeling again to address our TE room.  Mo for his age continues to prove he is actually one of the better TEs in the game.  Actually see him playing at a high level for another 2-3 years.  Granson has flashed potential but feel is not the long-term answer like Mo has proven to be.     I keep leaning towards either TEs Harold Fannin or Coleston Loveland.   SS Nick Emmananwori could make a case for is we don’t resign blackmon.    WLB Eric Gentry would be atop my list to replace EJ Speed.   My #1 target would be RDE Umanmielen.  We got Paye-Latu locked in.  Dayo will be interesting if we resign him.  Ebukam nearing end of his contract in 2025 or possible cap release savings.  Tyquan Lewis also be 30 last year of his 2025 contract.    DTs agree need addressed for the future.  TJ Sanders would be an excellent option behind Buckner.  Then NT Rene Konga in Round 2.  Interesting to see if NT Jordan Van Den Berg declares early as got him and Konga as top NT options.
