Crazy if they release Sam Ehlinger

I honestly see a lot of Taylor Heinicke in Sam and think we'd see similar results. Both are short for NFL QBs, are very smart, have limited arm strength relative to most other starting QBs, and play more of a sandlot style of football. That works well in the pre-season when teams aren't game-planning, but not so much in the regular season.

Best case scenario, he shocks the world and becomes our elite franchise QB. Worst case, he is the second coming of Curtis Painter, we’re 0-17, and we get the 1st overall pick. Either way, we win.

If we miss the playoffs it’s a safe bet we will have a new coach.  And that coach is not going to risk his career with Sam as his quarterback just to see what happens.  Seriously.

Sam is a Texas guy and the Cowboys need a QB (starter and backup).   I would try to get the Cowboys to make a trade for him.

I would trade Foles before I let Ehlinger go, he has more upside and possibly the future of our Franchise. BTW, if we trade Foles trade Reich as well.  We're not going anywhere this year again.
