It's been awhile since I heard his name.  Glad to see him back on an NFL roster.

I thought he retired, right? He wants to play again? He was decent depth but no way starting caliber.

Good for Hugh, hopefully he will make it, rooting for him. When healthy he was pretty good!

Man he hasn't been in a training camp since 2016.  He signed with the Falcons after leaving the Colts but retired before training camp.

 

Although I guess he spent some time playing in the Alliance of American Football.

Yes, he had ankle surgery back with the Falcons and was out an extended time as his recovery was not responding as desired. Thus he 'retired'. Now he has finally recovered fully and looks to play again.  Redskins are in desperate need of O line help.  He might be a helpful rotational piece if he plays well enough to make the 53.

Hugh was on the Arizona Hotshots (AAF), but placed on I.R. Not sure if he played much.

Thornton was terrible five years ago so what makes him think he can play now? This is why Washington is trash.

Disagree, I think he showed for periods he was capable of at least being a solid starter with perhaps the potential for more. The main issue was he constantly seemed banged up, or heading to IR, which disrupted his development quite a bit IMO. 

 

Whether he's done some work while retired to improve his robustness will remain to be seen, but interesting to note in his AAF career he again went onto IR.
