Pats couldn't get more then a second rounder for Jimmy G so i doubt we'd get a first. I'd rather have a good backup plan anyway

dont think anyone would offer a first, but i would not take a second for him right now either.  maybe next year

 

im not sure if they have protected trades in the nfl like they do in the nba

In his 6-year NFL career, Nick Foles has played in 49 games.  He started 39 of them.  So, yeah, he was a backup QB for Philly last year.  And with Wentz's return, he'll be back to that role once again.

 

So I'd call Foles a backup QB with an asterisk.  Yes, he is a backup and was so last year.  But, given his career, and given that he's not a 39 year old veteran past his prime trying to squeeze out a few extra years in a backup role, he's not really what comes to mind when you think of a "backup quarterback."
