Just seems like they always have good talent they have to let go. It's either Ozzie is very good at drafting or Ozzie is not good at managing the cap. Could also be just that Flacco deal also ?

And at knowing when to let go. For the most part, the guys they let walk do very little: Ellerbe, Kruger, Williams, Pollard, etc. We signed signed Jones, and while I'm fine with him, he wasn't exactly the missing piece for their defense.

 

Ozzie knows what he wants in the draft, and usually gets it. Particularly on defense. They pay their stars, but for everyone else, they stick to a very rigid cost-benefit analysis. They've probably tightened even more since 2012, but the cap has gone up enough the past two seasons to make Flacco's contract an afterthought.
