Concussion protocol

What is the point of it? What is there to check? I understand if the player lied down on the ground for a couple minutes like austin collie but it hurts the teams like lets say in the playoffs or super bowl being prevented from playing. Overall I think its the players choice if he wants to go back to the game.

Not anymore. The NFL has no choice but to try and police the concussions. Players will try and reenter the game, you are right. In fact we have seen many yelling for their helmet saying they are OK when they have concussions. Bottom line is, even though the biggest concussion suit is over, the lawyers will be around for ever, and the NFL has no choice but to police it. Additionally, you have hurt future players from entering the NFL due to parents worrying about concussions. The NFL has to stop that negative publicity also. Personally, i believe when you head a soccer ball, you can really rattle your head, or LaCrosse, Rugby, etc. Regardless, it becomes about making sure the sport continues it popularity and longevity, and taking away a players choice is what you have to do. He will try and fool the doctors, but at least they can say they went through the protocol and protected themselves legally. You have to stop people if possible from hurting themselves.

Italy had been studying it for awhile until American medical  came up with the proof of Lou Gerhig disease. They sent the results to Italy.

Why Italy- Soccer. 60mph ball hitting their heads all the time.

never underestimate brain injuries. No matter how trivial they may seem, they will come back to haunt you later if you keep aggravating it.

How true. My grandson was an all star player for his high school. He was a beast linebacker and was even having scouts from collages looking at him. He is 6'1" -220 lbs. Ideal size. His first concussion happened in his 2nd year. He lost the last 6 games that season. His second concussion happened in his third year. It was very serious. I had to take him to four different specialist for head injuries. That was four years ago. He still has trouble at times with head aches that take his sight away. He also has a balance problem that comes and goes. He has developed a shaking of his hands and cant even use things like a screwdriver. I was very proud of him that's for sure. I signed all the forms for him to play as I was his guardian. Now he is effected the rest of his life and will struggle with things like a regular job. If I had it to do over I would have never signed and let him play even though it was his passion. It took special people just to help him get his high school diploma. I am sure there are plenty of other young men that have suffered injuries such as this. Words can't describe my hurt. All this for the love of the game of football.

Its not..bap.....That player will be suing the NFL 10 years later for allowing him to make his own choice about playing when the doctor knew he had a concussion..

..and he'll be thinking about committing suicide in 30 years

All players get concussions long before they get to pro football and I guess we know football probably shortens your life but its the NFL's choice whether to allow someone to play with a concussion
