I cant help but notice that everyone who was on the Donald Brown band wagon have been very silent. .

Not that I am dragging a dead horse in here but the same people were the ones that said the same thing about Dwight Freeny..

That was the Polian mentality keep players and overpay..

I'm a Donald fan and was expecting him to step up now that Mathews is down. He faced a stout Jets run defense and took that concussion so he didn't get the opportunity I was hoping to see but I do think he is a good back. Early in the season he was doing an EXCELLENT job pass protecting something he was not well known for in Indy. All that said he and Dwight have been a part of a team that could be a potential SB contender so I don't think we need to bash too much. I wanted him to stay because I HONESTLY did not know Bradshaw would come back healthy. He has been a BEAST! I simply did not think Richardson could carry this team on his own (and he hasn't although he has been solid) but Bradshaws play has made the loss easy to deal with. No doubt in my mind a healthy Bradshaw is an electric player that makes Brown easily disposable. Hopefully we have Bradshaw all season though....that is my worry.

Not even listed in the box score against Az or the Jets and one QB hit against Jax.

Gotta wonder how many rush yards he gave up through the Freeney Freeway, the safest 5 yards in the history of the NFL. ;)

He leads the NFL in pressures. (2nd in PRP). He had 6 vs Arizona. The Jets game was his worse, which is saying a lot considering he still had 3 hurries.

He also has a +1.3 grade against the run (16th).

Nice try tho.

Freeney's been very good..but I agree....his rate was too high

You haven't heard much about Brown because he has a concussion...He was never offered a contract and signed for little.

Keep watching Donald Brown..SD has only played 5 games..

Overpaid?? Trent makes more than Brown

He had plenty of pressures but I don't think the Chargers had pressures in mind through 9 games rather then sacks, Of course pressures are great as we all know (or most) but Im sure the Chargers would prefer sacks at some point and QB hits

Seriously, would him having 2 more sacks actually make a difference to people's perception of him this season? He's doing more to disrupt the passer than any LB in the league.

Btw, he's 3rd in QB hits.

By the way, as to your first line in your post... this is about the 3rd or 4th thread on the subject.  Donald Brown is a role player - not expected to be our featured back.  He was beginning to break longer runs vs the Jets when he was clotheslined in a dirty play.  I just rewatched the game and he was getting on a nice role.  He would have had a lot more yards in that game if it weren't for the cheap hit.

Freeney's pressures have been outstanding - and yes, that's a big part of what the Chargers had in mind.  Stats rarely tell the full story.  He's a mentor/teacher and has upped the play in every position around him.  As you know he's a quality guy and a leader.  He also has had a few more sacks than are recorded due to penalties elsewhere on the field that cost the play.

Watch our game film vs Seattle and you'll see him in action.  The plan was to confine Wilson to the pocket and not go past him allowing him an avenue of escape.  The game Thursday night the D didn't do that and guess how disruptive Wilson was?

What people, who, exactly?

Or are you just generalizing? You wouldn't be making sweeping generalizations, would you? Both those guys did their frickin' jobs here, and you wont catch me disrespecting them.
