Will We Carry 6 WRs?

I would honestly go with 6 right now.

I remember last year at certain points we had 4 or 5 TEs on the active roster, so why not?

Honestly I can't see us cutting anyone and we shouldn't because of the injury of Reggie last year, and the injury history of Nicks, which I think is only the 2012 season where he was injured.

I think we'll keep 5 for sure...I am wondering who get's the boot, cause honestly I love all our guys.  I think Brazil might be the most expendable, just my opinion.

I agree. Plus he has the suspensions too. And when he's at his best, he's  mostly just a Hilton substitute which is a good and bad thing. Whalen seems to be a decent enough slot receiver if we don't want to keep rotating Hilton and Wayne in the slot like we have. But we should try and trade him before the draft to get maybe a 5th or 6th.

At this point, I can only imagine 2 scenarios that would cause the team to start the season with 6WRs on the active roster.

1. RW is too healthy to be on PUP, but not healthy enough to be active for the first few weeks of the season.

2. A WR that Grigs just can't pass on falls to the Colts in the draft, and there is sufficient concern that he would get poached from the PS.

If neither of the above happen, I would be a little shocked if they keep more than 5. If so, in my mind, Rogers is safe, if only because of his long term potential upside, which I believe is higher than Whalen's or Brazill's. For my money, it'll come down to how much Brazill has made amends for his off-the-field antics last year. If he has shown contrition and has worked hard, I would assume the final spot is his. If not, he is gone.

Where is my dislike button :)  I love Ballard.

Not saying I don't like him. Again, I may be prejudice, but I think that the only difference between Ballard and Boom ( and a lot of good college RBs) is that Vick got a chance.

I don't think anyone would disagree that the RB position in the pros is the easiest to replace. Vick is coming off a serious injury and the third RB will be expected to play STs. Going to be an interesting camp competition.

This brings up a good point. Nicks is obviously a wide out, the X. Reggie is really a slot guy now, our Y. So I guess that make TY the Z.

Or is Reggie still the featured receiver, the Z? Just speculation at this point, we won't know until camp.

I think Boom makes the team anyways....he was great on Special Teams.

Yeah I think roles are going to have to change. With his age and injury, Reggie is definitely not a wide out. That's definitely Hilton and Nicks. I'm not sure if he'll  get used just in the slot though. Griffen is an alright slot receiver. Maybe he's a first and 3rd down slot guy?

Personally though, I like Reggie in the seam.

Maybe PS. I doubt we carry 4 RBs and a FB. I'd hate to see Vick lose a spot, but not everyone is Adrian Peterson. Even Edge wasn't quite the same the year after his ACL.

    • Hmmm.   ”Healthy excuses will be hard to come by.”    Really?   Richardson, who had less than a thousand snaps in college, then had roughly 200 snaps his rookie year.  There’s one.   And Houston has Stroud who had a great rookie year.  Aren’t most media predicting Houston and JVille ahead of Indy this year?  That’s two without any trouble.     I just think insisting on a division title because a fan thinks it’s time doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.   Sorry, just my two cents…. And often not worth that much.
    • For me absolutely it does. If Richardson stays healthy excuses will be hard to come up with. As positive as I am with Ballard at some point we have to start winning. He bet on himself by bringing in his own home grown talent this year, what he does at safety in the coming month and a half has me worried as well. We were so close to winning the division last year with a back up QB that my expectation is winning the AFC south this year.    If they make it into the wild card game and lose then the seat is just as hot for me. If they advance further and make a Cinderella run then I’m fully back on board.
    • 3 straight losses for the Reds. They have their moments where they play well. But it’s time to be real. They aren’t a playoff team and will never be as long as the Castillinis own them and David Bell is manager.    De La Cruz is fun, but his career will be wasted on this team.
    • Am I reading this correct?   You think Ballard’s seat gets hot if the Colts don't win the AFC South?  Really?   So if the Colts don’t win the south but make the playoffs Ballard’s seat still gets hot?    Just making sure I understand your viewpoint.
    • Yes, yes he did. If you scroll back to old Pagano post you’ll see how much blame he got. I definitely hold Pagano is regards to letting Luck down on the offensive side of the ball. I also see the Houston Texans inevitably going down the same path.   D’joun Smith is who you’re thinking of.   Grigson is looked at as an overall bust and a terrible drafter so naturally the blame will be more widely accepted. There is no doubt things will be heating up under Ballards seat if anything less then winning the division is obtained this year. The QB position has been his Achilles heel. If Richardson is healthy this season I believe his roster will be very heavily evaluated with no excuses this year.
