Doesn't Mcnary seem like a prime candidate for the practice squad?

Same with this new guy,  Rayford.     If they make it, it seems more likely that they'd be on the practice squad than the final 53 man roster....

I mean....    just sayin....

I may be wrong...as usual... :funny:

McNary was simply a stud at Army.  I NEED to see him.

I would love to know when he is out of the Army and ready.  I truly believe he will contribute at some point.

He may end up on the PS....I hope he makes it...my personal player to 'root on.'   :colts:  :colts:  :colts:

I can't imagine how a guy like Kileen must feel. He was in the OTAs and all offseason activities, including today, and then all of a sudden at the end of the day to be let go.

It would have been nice to see him in pads. Killeen plays with a lot of intensity and aggression. I felt it would've translated well from the IFL into the NFL. Hopefully he'll get his shot with the CFL, and who knows, maybe be playing somewhere soon in the NFL. Good luck Jake.

For me, I consider it tempering expectations.  If this guy is to be used as an OLB in our scheme, he is going up against Mathis, Werner, and Walden.  There isn't even a slight chance he replaces Mathis, and there is a slim chance he replaces Werner/Walden who the team has a lot invested in. All those things said, as with most, I assume he is camp fodder and a potential backup to replace Sidburry.  Further, I suspect Sidburry has better odds of making the team than this guy, as we was picked up during the start of FA. They saw something there and wanted to sign him before he went somewhere else.

Obviously Grigson sees something is right, but the odds are long for a guy picked up at this point to be relevant, especially when he isn't an established veteran.  That's not to say he is a sure thing to be camp fodder, but simply that it is more likely he is a camp guy with long odds of making the final 53.  To further this point and separate Freeman, Freeman was signed January 16, 2012.  This guy was signed well after the draft, FA, and many other things.  He was on no one's radar.  If he made it that long without a contract, I suspect no one is going to blink when/if he gets cut.

He won't be replacing Sidburry. Sidburry is a stud and a starter on most other teams. Didn't the CFL cut this guy?

Just to yell "HOORAH" when he makes a tackle, it would be great to have him on the team.

Realistically, he's been away from football so long that he has long odds ahead of him.  I'd love to see the Colts keep him on the PS.

To be clear,  I'm rooting for him too....

As for what he's eligible to join the Colts,  I think it's any day now....    I remember seeing a story that speculated it would be around late May....

So,  I'm hoping it's next week.....

Sounds good...I had not seen anything NCF....shots are long for 'nobodies that we sign to make it...However...they come in and compete...we know Pags and the coaches will give them a chance!!  Put on the pads boys!!  :)

This guy looks like a player that is intended to be put on the practice squad to groom to provide support as a DE when the defense shifts to the 43, to play OLB as a rush specialist on 3rd down in the 34 and to specialize as a field goal attempt blocker. With a few more pounds, he would have a similar body type to Margus Hunt or JJ Watt and would also help offense to prepare for this type player during the season. Colts have a 90 man roster that will allow them to have excellent depth and quality starters at almost all positions in a wide variety of offensive and defensive packages and the ability to begin grooming young players this year to fill needs that are anticipated next year. This will also provide capacity to trade from a position of strength rather than a position of need.

I know a lot more about a guy by the name of Caesar Salad!!  His brother Tater Salad really brings it in the blitz package as well....This is the only thing I could find on them....well maybe more :)hip%20hip%20hurray.gif

We should bring in that 16 year old kid who kept up with him during his "work out" as well.

He looked impressive against those little kids, lol.

All kidding aside, at 6'7", hopefully his vertical is awesome and he can block some kicks.

Caesar "You'd cut me to brutas lol

Caesar salad you say Brent. Hmmm...I'm smelling an endorsement deal with a major salad bar company/resteraunt chain. CjMGirl23: Grigs is probably doing a full medical workup on the kid as we speak. LOL! Lollygager:  :D  Yes, they are just kids, but dropping your hips in the middle of a run is never easy man. I could probably drop mine, but I'd never be able to get back up.  haha Stephen: Nice Julius Caesar historical angle there! You stole my thunder. No worries. Well played sir!  Truly, just like the Romanian Emperor, "I came, I saw, I conquered." Just Kidding!

Sidburry is a stud and a starter on most teams???  He started 0 games in 4 seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.  0.  He averages 1.25 sacks per SEASON.

Sidbury is a physical specimen who may or may not be a good fit here.  He didn't get anything done with his first team, so to suggest he is a stud and a starter on most teams is over the top.  Way over the top.

I agree with the "Not a starter on most teams"  reference on Sidbury!

Watching film of his moves makes me hungry to see him in pads and in action here.  All I heard was he was vastly un-used and unappreciated in Atlanta.  I hope he is here with a chip on his shoulder ready to play when needed at OLB and on Special Teams!!! :colts:  :colts:  :colts:

I will say, I don't follow the Falcons all that closely, but it would seem to me that Sidbury is similar to Hughes here.  Both are drafted with high expectations, and for one reason or another, they never see the field.  I felt like Hughes was starting to show flashes in the new scheme last season.  Poof, he's gone as we bring in another 1st round pass rusher.

All I know is, we have at least 3 guys to compete for the spot opposite Mathis, and they're all hand selected by Grigson - Walden, Sidbury, and Werner.  Sidbury is the lowest of the three, as he was signed to a 1 year 700k deal.  I would love to see him be the top guy, but the odds are certainly against it as we have both Walden and Werner locked up with 4 year deals.  Should Sidbury "ball out" he'd be looking for a new deal, and that could easily get much more pricey than Walden and Werner combined.  Sidbury is likely depth, special teams, and nothing more.

I think the only main difference between Jerry Huges and Sidbury is that Sidbury has bee in a disguising Mike Nolan defense already so he is used to "Multiple Looks.:"

Multiple Looks

Much like 2012, the Falcons should end up looking like a 4-3 defense with a ton of 3-4 and even nickel looks. The Falcons ran an effective pass defense and will be relying on their new additions to play multiple roles. If Goodman, Osi Umenyiora and Jonathan Massaquoi can provide an additional pass rush that wasn't there in 2013, the Falcons defense should be that much better.

My question is hwo difficult is it to start in the 3/4 defense...and end up in 4-3....I do not think I would have a problem adjusting...who knows?

Like you, I feel as though the "Sidbury Beast' may end up odd man out unless there is an injury.  My thoughts are Pagano wants Werner on the field as much as possible whether it be right left...middle...all over the place to disguise.  I also want to see the Army Officer in action:  Josh McNary.  Watching old Army tape...good kid and a big pass rusher...251 pound battle tank...shouldn't his name be Abrams?   :funny:

    • I guess the whole question is the merits of the report. You report on his diabetes with tons of guesses and speculations and WITHOUT taking the side of the person who's been affected here and who's living and dealing with that condition. You report on the player being uncoachable WITHOUT taking the opinion of his coaches about being coachable or not(and BTW from what I've heard both from Colts and Texas coaches, this is resoundingly NOT TRUE). You report about him being immature and honestly, everything I've seen on the surface suggests the opposite. You report about his combine performance by giving it a pretty harsh reading(the video is in this thread and the account of what happened by McGinn is in this thread... People can actually go and look at what happened and make their own mind about whether the characterization of that workout was fair or not. I will just say you can represent the player stumbling in a drill and going again in various different ways and McGinn chose a specific way to represent it. It was the most negative way you could choose).    You know I had my own reservations about that outburst by Ballard at the presser, but the more I'm learning about Mitchell the more I actually believe in what Ballard was saying and the less merit those reports have in my mind. Maybe I have my own unconscious biases too, now that I have vested interest in Mitchell actually being good for us. I don't know     I guess ultimately none of it matters. AD's success or failure won't depend on some pre-draft reports... it will depend on how he handles himself from now on, how hard he works, his drive to be great and our staff's ability to get the best of him.
    • Hmmm.   ”Healthy excuses will be hard to come by.”    Really?   Richardson, who had less than a thousand snaps in college, then had roughly 200 snaps his rookie year.  There’s one.   And Houston has Stroud who had a great rookie year.  Aren’t most media predicting Houston and JVille ahead of Indy this year?  That’s two without any trouble.     I just think insisting on a division title because a fan thinks it’s time doesn’t stand up to much scrutiny.   Sorry, just my two cents…. And often not worth that much.
    • For me absolutely it does. If Richardson stays healthy excuses will be hard to come up with. As positive as I am with Ballard at some point we have to start winning. He bet on himself by bringing in his own home grown talent this year, what he does at safety in the coming month and a half has me worried as well. We were so close to winning the division last year with a back up QB that my expectation is winning the AFC south this year.    If they make it into the wild card game and lose then the seat is just as hot for me. If they advance further and make a Cinderella run then I’m fully back on board.
    • 3 straight losses for the Reds. They have their moments where they play well. But it’s time to be real. They aren’t a playoff team and will never be as long as the Castillinis own them and David Bell is manager.    De La Cruz is fun, but his career will be wasted on this team.
    • Am I reading this correct?   You think Ballard’s seat gets hot if the Colts don't win the AFC South?  Really?   So if the Colts don’t win the south but make the playoffs Ballard’s seat still gets hot?    Just making sure I understand your viewpoint.
