I may be misremembering but I believe Jim Brown was on record as having a less than stellar opinion of Richardson.

You might be right RG3. All I really remember is that Colt McCoy, the starting QB at the time, was good at throwing short & intermediate routes, but he had considerable difficulty throwing the long ball consistently & Richardson was drafted to churn yards on the ground & make it easier for McCoy to convert short 3rd downs. That was why Holmgren really wanted him. To get a lead & then run out the clock through ground & pound IMO.

Lastly, Mike Holmgren knew the value in quality RBs. He had Dorsey Levens in GB & Ricky Watters & Shaun Alexander in Seattle too. Holmgren saw the Playoff game winning potential in Trent Richardson as well.
