Early look and deep dive into 2025 NFL Draft Class and Prospects

As most here probably know quarterbacks have never really been my area of expertise and have left a few out.  Sorry Sanders but Colorado got nothing on them Huskers this year.  As time allows will be adding more sections in the near future.   To start off for now here is a quick look at this college seasons quarterbacks leading up to the 2025 NFL Draft and my early grades per round.

 

2025 NFL Draft QBs

• QB Cam Miller (ND St.) - Overall 2023 PFF grade 93.9.  Outstanding 71.5% completion rate, threw 2687 yards, 9.2 average, 19 TD/4 INTs.  Dual threat QB who also rushed for 629 yards (4.7 avg) adding another 13 TDs on the ground.  Round 1
• QB Mark Gronowski (SD St) - final 2023 offense grade of 92.4 (3rd), pass grade of 90.5 (8th), run grade of 85.5.  Good for 4th best behind Jayden Daniels and Bo Nix.  PFF had Gronowski with a 93.0 PFF grade only behind Cam Miller (ND St. 93.9).  Round 1.
• QB Jalen Milroe (Alabama) - dual threat QB with a chance to go in R1 but needs to show significant improvement as a pocket passer.  Needs to develop better accuracy and anticipation.  In 2023, Milroes recorded a 9.2% big-time throw rate in 2023, the second-best mark in the nation.  His 35 runs of 10+ yards were 4th among FBS QBs and his 96.9 passing grade on deep throws trailed only Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels.
• QB Jaxson Dart (Mississippi) – His play was elevated in Lane Kiffin’s RPO/play-action-heavy offense working outside of the pocket.  Needs to get better in the pocket but already breaking Eli Manning’s records with an 82% release speed, 82% short passing, 89% medium passing, 93% long passing, and 80% rush/scramble grades.  Dart’s growing on me at a potential top draft pick for the Colts next draft to backup AR.
• QB Riley Leonard (Duke) dual threat QB with decent 4.52s-forty speed.  Round 3
• QB Grayson McCall (Coastal Carolina) mobile pocket passer quick release speed (80%).  Projects Round 3-5
• QB Jordan Travis (FSU) – Mobile pocket passer.  Round 5

• QB Matthew Sluka (Holy Cross) – 2023 overall PFF grade of 92.2.  Dual threat QB mostly as a runner not as a passer but low INT has thrown over 20 TDs past two seasons and only 4-5 INTs.  Rushed for over 1200 yards in 2022-2023. Round 5

• QB Zevi Eckhaus (Washington St); 90.8 PFF Grade) –Past 3 years at Bryant, Eckhaus averaged over 60% comp, 2345-3228 yards, with 21-28 TD/3-15 INTs.  Can rush but seems to be more a true pocket passer.  Finished (6th) best QB in D1 in 2023.  See what he does his senior season against better competition at Washington State.  Projecting Round 6-UDFA

• QB KJ Jefferson (Arkansas) dual threat QB.  Round 7-UDFA

A lot to be said of Division 1 players that go unappreciated and overlooked each year.  Marcus Wehr and Micah Sahakian should have a chance to go early in the draft.  Will be a long wait until the season ends and the Bowls game conclude.  Both Wehr and Sahakian could surprise as immediate starting offensive tackles. 

 

2025 NFL Draft Offensive Lineman

• LT Kelvin Banks Jr (Texas) Sophomore – managed to hold his own vs Will Anderson Jr entering 2023 NFL draft as the top player in the draft.  Banks dominated as a pass protector only allowing 3.5% pressure rate and 98.4 pass-block.  had an 80.8 PB and 89.3 RB grades in a zone-run scheme.  Week 7 allowed zero pressures and only 8 pressures all season (weeks 0-6). Has a 74.6 RB grade and an 88.0 PB grade week 7.  To-date has an 83.5 PB grade 5th best among Power 5 tackle.  2022 PFF TOW 4 offensive POW and earned TOW 6 and 7 honors.  2025 NFL draft class.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1
• LG Donovan Jackson (OSU) – 2023 PFF TOW 10 honors.  Decent LG option in 2025 with 79% grades in both pass and run blocking.  Good 5.20s-forty, great shuttle time 4.57s, and excellent vertical 35.5”.  Jackson has generated all-conference honors at LG following each of the past two seasons, including first-team accolades by both the media and league coaches in 2023.  Round 1-2
• LG Tyler Booker (Alabama) junior, 2023 PFF TOW 8 honors. Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  In 2023 had an 82% pass blocking and 76% run blocking grades.  Projects R2.  Alabama’s OL conceded 65% of the team’s penalties (28 of 43) with nearly 68% coming from pre-snap penalties.  Round 2.

• OT Marcus Wehr (Montana St)- Wehr’s final 2023 93.4 offense grade, 86.7 PBLK and a 92.9 RBLK grades which was best overall for OTs in 2023.  Micah Sahakian (Cornell) finished second with 89.7 PFF grade in D1.  Wehr could prove to be better than Kelvin Banks Jr and go Round 1 - 3.

• RG Tate Ratledge (Georgia) – Top OG in the 2025 class with an excellent PB grade 93% only 74% RB.    In 2022 had 2 penalties on 660 snaps.  Made 2023 PFF College All-Second Team.  Round 2

• OT Micah Sahakian (Cornell) final 2023 89.7 offense grade, 86.2 PBLK and 87.5 RBLK grades.  Good for 2nd best OT behind Marcus Wehr in D1.  Rounds 2-3

• RG/RT Jonah Savaiinaea (Arizona) Sophomore ranked 2nd among all true freshman guards with a 76.0 pass-blocking grade.  Finished 2023 with an overall blocking grade 69.7 and an 81.7 run-blocking grade.  In 2022 as a true freshman, he started all 12 games at RG posting a 77.3 pass-blocking grade giving up 2 sacks and committed no penalties. In 2023 split snaps 195 at RG and 693 at RT.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team playing RG.  Round 2

• OT Wyatt Milum (West Virginia) – Had a 74.2 pass-blocking grade in 2021 ranked 2nd among true freshman in the Power 5.  Moved to LT in 2022 earned an 82.5 grade (top-15 among all tackles in CFB).  In 2023 had an 89.6 pass-blocking grade finishing 2nd among all FBS tackles behind only Patrick Paul.  On 337 PB snaps allowed zero sacks, zero QB hits with only 9 pressures allowed.  Penalty prone, ignore.  Rounds 2-3

• RG Omar Aigbedion (Baylor) junior – final 2023 PFF offense grade of 90.0 best in class with a 79.0 pass block grade and a 90.0 run block grade.  Transferred to Baylor for 2024 season.  Mason McCormick was drafted in R4 in 2024 and ranked 6th best OG with a 76.9 PFF grade (Aigbedion 1st 90.0 PFF grade).  Rounds 2-3

•  

  OT Luke Newman (Michigan St).  While at Holy Cross Newman finished top 4 in 2023 among all D1 OTs and finished with an overall 87.8 PFF Grade.  For reference, OT Kiran Amegadjie was ranked 8th and drafted Round 3 by the Bears in 2024.  See how Newman does against better competition while at Michigan State.  Rounds 2-3

• OT Ryder Langsdale (Lafayette) – 242 OFF-BLK/144 RBLK/98 PBLK – 90.0 OFF, 85.9 RBLK, 83.3 PBLK grades.  Finished 2023 season off as the 5th best OT with an 86.1 PFF grade.  Kiran Amegadjie was 8th.  Round 3

• OT-swing Jalen Travis (Princeton) – 2023 finished with 89% pass blocking and 75% run blocking grades.  Finished 9th overall best OT in 2023 with an overall 80.7 PFF grade slightly behind Kiran Amegadjie (Yale) who was drafted in Round 3 P11 by the Bears in 2024 NFL draft.  Round 3

• OT Easton Kilty (ND) junior – 193 OFF-BLK/80 RBLK and 133 PBLK - 89.8 OFF, 89.8 RBLK, 87.8 PBLK grades.  Finished 2023 season off as the 6th best OT.  Round 3

• RT Ajani Cornelius (Oregon) - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team.  Best in zone-blocking system.  2025 NFL draft class has good 5.15s-forty and great weight 308 pounds.  Finished 2023 with a 79% defense rating, 90% pass-blocking, 84% run blocking grades.  Committed 10 penalties in 11 games in 2022.  IGNORE- Round3

• RG Miles Frazier (LSU) – great height 6’6”, average 5.25s-forty with excellent weight 335 pounds.  Solid 88% pass blocking grade needs to improve run blocking only 66%.  A backup with starter potential.  Round 4

• LT J.C. Davis (New Mexico) decent backup no major issues noted at this time.

  R6 RG Tanner Miller (Michigan St) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team at Oregon State.  In 2023 Miller split reps at RG (548 snaps) and center (269) snaps.  Had an overall PFF grade of 73.9 excelling in run-blocking (80.3) but a 55.6 pass-blocking grade.  See how he does since transferring to Michigan State.  Round 5

• RT/OG Bradley Ashmore (Vanderbilt) – 2023 after 4-5 weeks earned an 84.4 PFF grade for the highest-graded guard in the Power Five.  Ashmore’s 90.1 RB grade is nearly 3 points higher than the next closest guard.  Rounds 5-7

• LG AJ Gillie (Louisiana) – In 2021 PFF grade 92.3 with a 69.1 PBLK and 94.4 RBLK grades.  In 2022 Gophersports said Gillie graded at 80 or better in 11 games.  Originally slated First Team All-Sun Belt Team.  Round 6

• LT Adam Karas (Air Force) – new addition.  After 9 weeks Karas has an 83.9 run-blocking grade and an overall PFF grade of 87.4. Round 6-UDFA

• RT Chase Lundt (UConn) - 2023 PFF TOW 4, 5, 6 honors.  Round 6-UDFA

• RT Josh Fryar (OSU) - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention – new addition.  Fryar finished 2023 with a 70.8 overall PFF grade.  Round 6-UDFA

• RT Riley Mahlman (Wisconsin) – 2023 PFF TWO 12 honors.  In 2023 was the 6th most valuable OT in the country per wins above average metric.  Had a 78.1 PFF grade ranked top-15 among Power Five tackles as was his 73.1 run-blocking grade.  Among the 20 best Power Five OT in pressure rate allowed (3%).  Round 6-UDFA

Biggest undrafted free agency list of offensive linemen:

UDFA OT Jalen Travis (Iowa State) While at Princeton finished with an overall 80.7 PFF Grade and 9th best OT in D1. – Much like OT Tyler McLellan (Campbell), signed with Chargers, project to UDFA in 2025.  See how he does at Iowa State against better competition.

 

OT/OG Grey Zabel (North Dakota State) Zabel finished 2023 with an overall 79.3 PFF Grade as an OG.  Finished 10th among other listed tackles last season.  As a guard would have been 4th best D1.  Project UDFA.

 

UDFA OG Nick Taiste (South Carolina State) in 2023 had an overall 79.1 PFF Grade, good for 4th best OG in D1.  Project to be an UDFA much like Ross Palmer and Donny Ventrelli in 2024.

 

UDFA OC Gus Miller (South Dakota State) in 2023 finished (1) best OC with an overall 78.4 PFF Grade and as a junior won the Rimington Award for the FCS as the best player in D1 football.

 

UDFA OG Evan Beerntsen (South Dakota State) in 2023 had an overall 77.4 PFF Grade, good for 5th best OG in D1.  Project to be an UDFA much like Ross Palmer and Donny Ventrelli in 2024.

 

UDFA OG Rush Reimer (Cal) – Reimer transferred to Cal for 2024.  Previously at Montana State, he earned an overall 75.8 PFF Grade, good T-8th best OG in 2023.  See how he does against better CFB competition.  Project goes UDFA much like Jake Kubas (7) (NY Giants), Ross Palmer (3), and (2) Donny Ventrelli (Bears).  Could be the next Mason McCormick (6) drafted by the Steelers P119 in the 2024 NFL draft.

 

UDFA OT Josh Simmons (OSU) – In 2022 Simmons was flagged 17 time and had 7 more penalties after his first 8 games as a buckeye before adding just one flag in final five games in 2023.  Ignore

 

UDFA LT Josh Conerly JR (Oregon) prone to false starts due to nerves.  Had 3 false starts vs Texas Tech. Ignore

 

OL Jonah Monheim (USC) – struggles vs bull rush.  May improve draft stock will have to see how this season plays out. 

 

OL Earnest Greene III (Georgia) – father played for SD Chargers went to 1994 Super Bowl.  Potential late Day 1 pick.  Only posted a 70.0 grade or higher in two of his 14 games in 2023.  2023 PFF TOW 4 honors.  Need to see improvement this season.

2025 NFL Draft RBs

• RB Ollie Gordon II (Oklahoma St) – Reigning Doak Walker Award Winner from 2023 where he led the nation with 1732 rushing yards behind a poor OL that finished 98th in the nation with a 55.4 team run-blocking grade.  Gordon made the 2023 PFF College All-America Team.  2023 PFF TOW 8 honors.  Rounds 1-2

• RB Omarion Hampton (UNC) – 2023 PFF TOW 2 honors rushing for 233 yards on 26 carries.  In 2023 FBS-leading 1,072 yards after contact and capable of hitting a top speed of 23 miles per hour (fourth among FBS running backs in 2023).  Rounds 1-2

• RB Quinshon Judkins (Ole Miss) - 2022 PFF TOW 9 honors had 14 broken tackles against Texas A&M, 5 breakaway runs of 15+ yards in company with likes of Derick Henry, Alvin Kamara and Chuba Hubbard.  Judkins came to Ole Miss as just a three-star recruit but, like Will Johnson at No. 21, dominated in Year 1.  He ranked in the top 10 in college football in rushing yards (1,567), rushing touchdowns (16), yards after contact (929) and forced missed tackles (76). Judkins also moved the chains on 91 of his attempts last year, placing fourth among FBS running backs.  2025 NFL draft R2-3.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Rounds 1-2

• RB Jo’Quavious Marks (Miss. St) – 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  Proven to average 4-5+ YPC with 50-83 RECs/year impressive. Best both run and pass blocking earning consistent grade 76% for all. – entered transfer portal commits to USC.  2023 grades 87% rushing, 65% breaking tackles, 78% receiving/hands, 72% pass blocking, 58% run blocking.  Good 4.48s-forty speed with excellent shuttle time 4.07s and above-average vertical 35.  Last season he was one of my top RB picks reminds me a lot of Austin Eckler/Nyheim Hines.  Round 2

• RB Treveyon Henderson – no history of fumbling and decent hands 71%, and 72% run blocking with 63% pass blocking.  Round 2

• RB Ashton Jeanty (Boise St) junior – In 2022 Jeanty was the highest-graded true freshman with a stellar 89.5 grade.  After 4-5 weeks in 2023 only RB in college with top-10 rushing and receiving grades earning an 89.0 PFF grade thus far.  After 9 weeks Jeanty only one of two (Jonah Coleman) in college football with top-10 rushing and receiving grades, 90.4 overall grade.  10 (2023) weeks Jeanty’s 405 receiving yards are the most in the country.  Round 3 another one of my crushes. 

• Jayden Ott (Cal) has been the engine of California’s offense throughout his first two seasons of college football. Among Power Five running backs since 2022, he’s ninth in rushing yards (2,201), seventh in yards after contact (1,394), fifth in forced missed tackles (108) and sixth in receiving yards (517). Ott gets up to top speed quickly at 6 feet and 200 pounds. His 160 plays where he hit at least 15 miles per hour since 2022 rank third among FBS running backs. 86% rushing, 70% breaking tackles, 69% receiving/hands, 43% pass blocking, and 56% run blocking.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  As a freshman in 2022 after first 4 weeks owns the highest rushing grade in FBS 94.4 – 8.1 yards PA.  Ott finished off 2022 season with 897 rushing yards averaging 5.3 yards per carry and 8 rushing touchdowns.  He also caught 46 passes for 321 yards and added 3 more touchdowns as a receiver.  Round 4

• RB Jonah Coleman (Arizona) junior – 10/27/23 PFF ranks highest graded Power Five RB this season with a 90.7 grade.  After 9 weeks Coleman ranks second in both rushing 91.7 and 88.7 receiving grades.  Rounds 4-6

• RB DJ Giddens (KSU) slower 4.56s-forty speed, 94% rushing, 75% breaking tackles, 64% receiving/hands, 72% Pass Bocking, and 54% run blocking grades.  No history of fumbles.  Rounds 4 - 6

• RB Kyle Monangai (Rutgers) decent 4.5s-forty speed not enough to run past DBs. 90% rushing, 75% breaking tackles, 57% receiving, 62% PB and 66% run blocking grades.  No history of fumbles.  Rounds 4-6

• RB Ismail Mahdi (Texas State) junior – 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors. After 6 games had 9 KO RET for 280 yards averaging 31.1 yards and currently ranked 5th as a KR.  In 2023 rushed for 1331 yards on 223 carriers averaging 6.0 with 10 TDs.  Also proven back that can catch averaging 260 yards a season on 25 catches.  Round 4-6

• RB Devin Neal (Kansas) – In 2023 rushing awesome 85%, 71% breaking tackles, 64% receiving/hands, poor pass blocking 38%, and 57% run blocking grades.  In 2023 rushed for 1280 yards on 203 carries good for 16 TD with a 6.3 average.  Round 4-6HB Roman Hemby (Maryland), junior – In 2022 carried 188 times for 989 yards and scored 10 touchdowns on the ground while catching 33 passes for 297 yards averaging 9.0 yards per catch and 1 touchdown.  Continuing to average over 5 yards per carry and 9+ per catch.  Poor pass-block 30% better as RB 61%.  Round 5-7

• Marcus Yarns (Delaware) In 2023 earned a 90.7 PFF grade playing D1.  Isaiah Davis (South Dakota State) was first with a 93.1 PFF Grade and drafted in Round 5 by the NY Jets.  Rounds 5-7

UDFA RB Hope Adebayo (St. Thomas) junior, in 2023 earned 89.5 PFF Grade and in D1 tied 5th as best running back.  Isaiah Davis finished 1st and was drafted in Round 5 by the NY Jets while #4 Jalen Jackson went UDFA. Hope Adebayo (St. Thomas) junior, in 2023 earned 89.5 PFF Grade and in D1 tied 5th as best running back.  Isaiah Davis finished 1st and was drafted in Round 5 by the NY Jets while #4 Jalen Jackson went UDFA.

 

UDFA RB Lan Larison (UC Davis) junior finished 2023 tied 7th with an overall 89.2 PFF Grade in D1.  On 178 carries rushed for 1101 yards scoring 13 TDS while adding two more through the air on 21 REC for 198 yards.  Like in 2024 Jalen Jackson and Jyran Mitchell, Larison should go UDFA.

 

UDFA RB Kayvon Britten (Tarleton State) from Cincinnati, in 2023 tied 7th with an overall 89.2 PFF Grade.  Small bell cow 5’7” 195 pounds but in 2022-2023 rushed over 1000 yards per season scoring 16 TDs/season.  Also show hands to be a receiver.   Project UDFA much like Colts signing Jyran Mitchell and Chargers signing Jalen Jackson in the post-2024 NFL draft as UDFAs.

2025 NFL Draft WRs

• WR Luther Burden III (Missouri) sophomore – 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors – After 4 weeks in 2023 he is the highest-graded WR excelling after the catch this season.  Dubbed next Deebo Samuel and an early favorite to be WR1 in the 2025 NFL Draft. As a true sophomore, Burden’s 340 YAC, 146 receiving yards after contact, 14 forced missed tackles and 5.27 yards per route run all rank 1st among Power Five receivers.  So far has a 91.8 PFF grade. Will he win the Biletnikoff? 2023 earned college football midseason all-America First Team.  Burden leads the nation in receiving grade 93.0, receiving yards 784, and YAC 484 and paces the Power Five in yards per route run 4.36.  2023 had 83% hands, 90% short receiving, 97% intermediate routes, 96% deep threat, and 61% blocking.  Consensus 2025 NFL draft top-5 pick. 4.41s-forty.  Made 2023 PFF College All-Second Team.  Round 1

• WR Emeka Egbuka (OSU) – returned to college for the 2024 season.  Excellent 4.30s-forty.  Needs to improve in man coverage and contested catches.  Hands 81%, short receiving 85%, 93% intermediate routes, 83% deep threat, 56% blocking.  Potential as a top-10 pick.

• WR-X Tetairoa McMillian (Arizona) Sophomore led all true freshman in 2022 with 702 receiving yards and 8 TDs.  In 2023 had 80 catches for 1242 yards (15.5 avg) and 10 TDs.  Excellent measurables, hands 87%, short receiving 86%, 93% intermediate routes, 92% deep threat, and 58% blocking.  Projected 2025 NFL draft class.  Needs to get better at creating separation and lacks top-end speed 4.56s-forty.  Reminds me of Antwane Wells Jr.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

• WR/PR Isaiah Bond (Texas) – Former Alabama transferred to Texas.  Trained with Austin former NFL WR on returning kicks.  Excellent 4.28s-forty.  At best working the middle not the outside.  Projected better in the slot.  2025 NFL draft mid-R1 pick.  5’11” 182 pounds.  Great 4.28s-forty speed.  Hands 80%, 79% short receiving, 76% intermediate routes, 86% deep threat, and 68% blocking.  Round 2

• WR-X Tre Harris (Mississippi) 6’2” 205 pounds runs a good 4.40s-forty.  Good hand 77%, short receiving, 93% intermediate routes, and 95% deep threat, and 66% blocking.  Compared to Troy Franklin, Brian Thomas, and Adonai Mitchell.  2023 PFF TOW 10 honors.  Round 2

• WR-X Antwane Wells Jr (SC) has an 80-85% route tree, and hands, with 60% blocking slower receiver 4.50s-forty.  Round 2

• WR-X Ricky White (UNLV) junior – 2022 PFF TOW 0 honors, 2023 PFF TOW 7 honors.  2023 after 10 weeks White has an 87.4 PFF grade and been one of the most efficient receivers in college football.  His 3.77 yards per route run is 3rd among all receivers in the nation.  2023 final grades 67% hands, 79% short receiving, 84% intermediate routes, 85% deep threat, 67% blocking.  Enormous catch radius.  Major threat in the red zone. Tracks bell well making contested catches but lacks separation and suddenness as a route runner.  Round 3

• WR-X Will Sheppard (Vanderbuilt) – In 2023, Sheppard led the country in contested catches with 9 through 5 weeks and contested targets of 18.  Ranked with some of the best last season with Keon Coleman, Xavier Legette, and Rome Odunze.  Sheppard is a physical receiver not a burner or known for creating consistent separation.  Only 46% blocking.  Rounds 3-4

• SWR-H Caullin Lacy (South Alabama) - junior- 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team.  2023 grades, hands 71%, short receiving 76%, intermediate routes 78%, deep threat 82%, blocking 52%.   Rounds 4-5

• SWR Drae McCray (Texas Tech) – junior return specialist - 2023 college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  Small size build 5’9” 185 pounds but had success in 2021 (872 yards plus 8 TDs) and 2022 (1021 yards plus 9 TDs).  Round 5

• WR Brashard Smith Miami (FL) – junior return specialist - 2023 college football midseason all-America Third Team.  Round 5

• SWR Xavier Restrepo Miami (FL) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  5’10” 198 pounds with 4.45s-forty.  2023 grades, hands 76%, short receiving 80%, intermediate routes 85% along with deep threat, and 61% blocking.  Rounds 5-6

• WR Brennan Presley (Oklahoma St) – small slot receiver lacks elite speed.  Rounds 5-6

• WR Bru McCoy (Tennessee) Round 6

• WR Dymere Miller (Rutgers) – final 2023 grade of 92.3, while at Monmouth, only behind Nabers with a run grade of 67.4, receiving 92.2, and a good run blocking grade of 64.5 equal to Nabers.  Miller finished as the best receiver in 2023 with a 92.3 PFF grade.  Slightly better than Hayden Hatten 90.3 (Idaho) who was drafted by Seattle in 2024 NFL draft signed as an UDFA and Jalen Coker (Holy Cross) 89.9 grade who also went UDFA picked up by the Panthers and like Hatten has a good chance to make the roster.  See also Ty James whom the Vikings added as an UDFA that ranked tied #4 with Jalen Coker and Jadon Janke who went UDFA and signed with the Ravens ranked 6th. Sam Schnee 9th.  Rounds 6-UDFA but has a potential to improve draft status now with Rutgers.  Last season I called Hayden Hatten the next Puka Nacua and even Hatten has been having a good rookie minicamp.  Expecting Miler this year to be that sleeper pick.

• WR De’Corian Clark (UTSA) – been compared to Alec Pierce, 69% hands, 73% short receiving, 76% intermediate routes, 77% deep threat, 54% blocking.  Got elite athletic skills.  Made Bruce Feldman’s Freaks List at #94.  In HS he jumped 24’8”, hit 22.2 MPH on the GPS and clocked a 4.31 shuttle time.  Also ran a 4.49s-forty time, had a 10’1” broad jump, and a 35” vertical jump while power-clean 345 pounds.  Listed at 6’3”, good 215 weight, and 4.45s-forty speed.  Round 7-UDFA

• WR-M – Jerjuan Newton (Toledo) - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  Round 7-UDFA

• WR Isaac TeSlaa (Arkansas) – returned to college in 2024.  Great Midwest American Conference Offensive Player of the Year in 2022 and received Honorable Mention All-American.  Height 6’4” 216 pounds.  Strengths – ball tracking, hands, athleticism, 50/50 extraordinaire.  See how he does again better competition.  Round 7-UDFA

• WR Bo Belquist (North Dakota) 2023 overall 88.6 PFF Grade.  For D1 graded out as one of the top 10 WRs.  UDFA

2025 NFL Draft TE

• TE Colston Loveland (Michigan) – Finished 2023 with the 10th best receiving grade and 5th most receiving yards in college football.  Would have been an easy TE2 behind Brock Bowers in 2024 NFL draft.  Will have a new QB this season but still is a matchup nightmare.  Round 1
• TE Mitchell Evans (ND) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Torn his ACL in 2023.  Posted an 83.7 receiving grade and could compete to be the first TE taken in 2025 NFL Draft.  Round 1-2
• TE Bryson Nesbit (UNC) – poor blocking 47% kind of reminds me of Will Mallory.  Decent hands 71%, 79% short receiving, 85% intermediate routes, 85% deep threat.  Can be difficult to cover and easily get separation.  Good catch-and-run threat with good running vision with great top speed.  Round 4

• TE/WR Oronde Gadsden II (Syracuse) – 71% run blocking better than most 117.8 QB rating when targeted with decent overall stats.  Tweener WR/TE at 6’5” and 223 pounds but excellent 4.50s-forty speed.  Good hands 82% along with short receiving, excellent intermediate routes 88%, 87% deep threat with good 70% blocking.   Round 4

• TE Terrance Ferguson (Oregon) – Nov. 2023 had a 60.8 offensive grade, 64.7 passing grade, 67.1 pass block grade, 41.7 run block grade.  Round 7

• UDFA TE JJ Galbreath (South Dakota) - In 2023 in D1 had an overall 72.6 PFF Grade.  6’4” 240 pounds.  Project UDFA like TE Owen Glascoe in 2024 (invite to NE) and TE Cam Grandy UDFA by the Bengals.

To me this is one of the best draft classes for defensive lineman that I am looking forward to watching the most this season in college football.  Teams should continue to find value on early on Day 2 in the draft.

 

2025 NFL Draft DL/Edge

• DI Mason Graham (Michigan) highest-graded true freshman IDL in the country in 2022 with an 80.3 grade.  2023 PFF TOW 2 and 6 honors.  Projects Top 5 draft pick in 2025 draft class.  Only one of two IDL in college to finish with top-10 grades in both pass-run defense (Sweat was the other).  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

• NT/IDL Deone Walker (Kentucky) sophomore – In 2022 as a true freshman Walker finished 3rd among SEC IDL with an 80.9 pass-rushing grade.  Standing 6’6” 330 pounds he is a behemoth of a young man.  In 2022, at the age 19 he was able to easily beat/hold his own against RG O’Cyrus Torrence.  In 2023 he earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  In 2023 led all FBS IDL in pressures (51) and led the Wildcats in TFLs (12.5) and sacks (7.5) despite being routinely double-teamed. Deone can truly impact the game on all 3-downs.  According to PFF, he had an 81.7 run-defense grade in 2023.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

• Edge/Viper Ben Bell (Texas St) Junior – Brother is Levi Bell (Seahawks).  2023 after 4-5 games Bell has a 91.8 PFF grade.  His 39.7 pass-rush win rate in nearly 10% points higher than the next closest edge defender.  Bell finished 2023 (Nov. 17) second only behind #1 Latu.  Bell had a 90.7 overall grade with 354 snaps played.  He was ranked #1 in pass-rush win rate (30.3%), while his 22.4% pressure rate ties Latu for 11th.  Ben Bell has been on my watchlist for a couple years now and has that "wow" factor much like Latu.  Don't be shocked to see him drafted in Round 1 but could drop to Round 3.

• Edge Nic Scourton (Texas A&M) – 2023 PFF TOW 1 honors.  At Purdue Scourton was an elite edge-rusher finished 2023 inside top 0 in pass-rush grade (90.0) and pass-rush win rate (21.2%).  See if Scourton can continue his dominance with Texas A&M.  Round 1

• Edge James Pearce Jr (Tennessee) sophomore - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  2023 PFF TOW 7 honors.  Pearce led the SEC with 10 sacks in 2023 and 2nd in the conference with 15 TFLS.  Round 1

• Edge Jack Sawyer (OSU) 6’4” 265 pounds runs an excellent 4.60s-Forty.  Top-5 draft pick potential with an excellent 94% run defense, 94% pass rush, and solid 83% tackling.  Sawyer was the only edge player to earn an 85.0+ grade in both pass-rusher and run defender in 2023.  Jack of all trades can line up anywhere across the DL and our new DC could be creative enough to help him.  Round 1

• Edge/DL Mykel Williams (Georgia) Sophomore 5th best returning edge defenders in college football.  Williams has a 75.9 run-defense grade ranked 4th among SEC edge defenders and led all FBS true freshman edge defenders.  His 6 sacks tied for the most among all true freshman in the country while his 33 pressures were tied for 2nd most.  Williams is a future first round pick. 77% tackling, 78% pass rush, 88% run defense.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Rounds 1-2

• Edge Princely Umanmielen (Florida) junior- 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  2025 Draft Class am projecting the be the best Edge and fit for the Colts.  At 6’5”, 255 pounds excellent 4.68s-Forty, great shuttle time 4.26s and vertical 38.5”.  Outstanding pass rush grade 98%, solid run defense 81% but needs to improve tackling only 63%.  In four years has 24.5 TFLS including 14.5 sacks.  Needs to show greater consistency but has the size and explosiveness.  Round 2

• Edge J.T. Tuimoloau (OSU) junior – bigger role now that Zach Harrison off to the NFL. 10.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 2 INTs and FF in 2022.  2023 PFF TOW 3 honors.  2025 NFL draft class and very well #1 DE off the board. Defense rating for 2023 was 81%, 72% tackling, 88% pass rush and 76% run defense.  Top 5 pick if not Top-10.  Downgraded after 2023 season due to inconsistent play only earned a 74.5 grade.  Round 2

• Edge Ashton Gillotte (Louisville) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team. 2023 PFF TOW 10 honors.  After 11 weeks, Gillotte has generated 37 QB hurries, the 3rd most in the nation.  Overall PFF grade 86.8. Graded above 80.0 as both a pass-rusher and run-defender.  On 2023 season has 11 sacks, with 3 FF and 1 FR.  TO machine.  Named All-ACC-First Team.  Height 6’3” weighs 270 pounds good 4.75s-forty time.  Finished 2023 with a 71% tackling grade, 85% pass-rush and 87% run defense grades.  Made 2023 PFF College All-Second Team.  Round 2

• NT 0/3-tech IDL Dontay Corleone (Cincy) Sophomore – mid-way through 2022 he was 4th nationally with a 91.5 PFF grade making Ivan Pace Jr job on the field easier.  After 10 weeks Corleone has 41 TOT, 3 sacks, 1 FF, and 1 FR.  Freshman 93.9 DEF, 94.8 RDEF, 82.5 PRUSH, 61.8 COV.  led all FBS defenders with a 93.8 grade. His 94.7 run-defense grade was also the best mark by a front-seven defender since Micah Parsons in 2019 and recorded the 6th most run-stop (27) in 2022.  As a pass-rusher placed 8th among all defensive tackles in the country with a 15.6% pass-rush win rate.  2025 NFL draft R1-2 projection.  81% run defense, 77% pass rush grade and 65% tackling.  Round 2

• Edge Elijah Alston (Texas A&M) – 2023 after 8 weeks leads all edges with a 96.1 coverage grade.  Alston was an All-Sun Belt selection in 2023.  See how he does against better competition now that he transferred to Texas A&M.  Alston had a 91.0 overall grade and 90.5 pass-rushing grade based on 235 pass rush snaped while at Marshall.  He racked up 36 QB pressures and added 5 sacks in 2023.  Alston by Nov. 17th was ranked 4th best Edge behind #1 Latu whom the Colts selected in Round 1.  Alston also had 24 defensive stops during this period.  Alston could be drafted anywhere from Rounds 1-3.

• Edge Donnell Brown (Maryland) junior – After 5 weeks in 2023 Brown has a PFF grade of 92.0 with 140 snaps.  He has racked up 8 pressures on 140 snaps plus has 2 INTs and 1 PBU.  Brown finished ranked 10th behind (#4) Elijah Alston and (#1) Latu during Nov. 17th timeframe.  His two interceptions helped him earn an elite coverage grade of 9.2 which was top-5 at his position.  His overall grade was 85.6 with 348 snaps played.  Rounds 2-3

• JACK LB/RDE Kaimon Rucker (UNC) - 2022 PFF TOW 0 honors.  Rucker became first Tar Heel in 10-years to be named the Walker Camp Defensive Player of the Week.  Versus South Carolina he had 5.5 TFLs and 2 sacks.  2023 after 5 weeks has 23 TOT and 4 sacks.   For 2023 finished with 61 TOT, 8.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, and 1 PD.  With 70% tackling, 94% pass-rush, and 75% run defense.  Round 3

• DT 3-tech Tyleik Williams (OSU) good 4.78s-forty speed for a 290-pound frame, 83% tackling, 77% pass rush, and 81% run defense.  Rounds 2-3

• Edge Ty Hamilton (OSU) stout against the run.  Round 2

• DT Kenneth Grant (Michigan) – Grant earned an 80.4 overall grade in 2023.  82% tackling, 82% pass rush, and 77% run defense.  Rounds 2-4

• NT/DT Walter Nolen (Ole Miss) – 87% tackling, 75% pass and run defense grades.  Sold at Texas A&M and has transferred to Ole Miss for 2024 season.  Rounds 2-4

• Edge Dani Dennis-Sutton (PSU) – 6’5” 270 pounds, 75% tackling, 88% pass-rush, and 77% run defense.  Rounds 2-4

• Edge Landon Jackson (Arkansas) – good height 6’7” and 4.68s-forty speed.  Tackling 80%, pass rush 74%, and 82% run defense.  Needs to more consistency in 2024 to improve his draft stock.  Rounds 2-4

• Edge Patrick Payton (Florida St) – good height 6’5”, great 4.62s-forty speed.  Average tackler 58%, both 78% grades in pass and run defense.  Rounds 2-4

• IDL Joey Slackman (Pennsylvania) final 2023 defense grade 90.1 (3rd), 92.8 run defense grade (1st), pass rush 71.9 (91st), and a 60.5 coverage grade.  Averaging 48.5 TOT a season along with 4 sacks.  Built like Grover Stewart at 6’4” 300 pounds.  Rounds 2-4

• Edge Steven Parker (Incar Word) solid 2022 final 81.9 PFF grade and improved 2023 to a 90.9 defense grade.  82.8 run defense, 92.5 pass rush and 56.4 coverage grade.  See how he does against stronger competition.  Rounds 2-4

• Edge Tyler Baron (Tennessee) excellent 4.6s-forty speed, 82% tackling, 92% pass-rush, and 82% run defense in 2023.  Rounds 2-4

• DL Shemar Turner (Texas A&M) 6’4” 290 pounds good 4.80s-forty speed (77%), 63% tackling, 79% pass rush, and 68% run defense. Turner is one of the more disruptive DTs in the SEC.  Has a quick first step and body control to shoot the gaps.  Round 3

• Edge Khris Bogle (MSU) – 6’4” 240 pounds runs great 4.65s-Forty with excellent vertical 37.5 and shuttle 4.28s.   Early projecting him R3-R4 needs to improve run defense 73%, pass rush 70%, but solid tackler 85%.

• NT/DI Rylie Mills (ND) - – 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors – 2023 college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Great height 6’5”, good 4.79s-forty time, and average weigh 296 pounds.   Decent tackling 71%, 83% pass rush, and 78% run defense.  Round 3

• NT/DT Tonka Hemingway (South Carolina) – good 4.82s-forty light 285 pounds, only 51% tackling, 88% pass rush, and 82% run defense.  Round 4

• DT/NT Alfred Collins (Texas) – great height 6’5” and excellent weight 317 pounds.  Good 4.95s-forty speed with great shuttle time 4.35s and a 32” vertical.  Not a great tackler only 45%, strong pass rush 88% and 77% run defense.  Needs to develop a counter move but has high motor.  Round 5

• Edge Anton Juncaj (Arkansas) – 2022 PFF grade of 75.1 while playing for Albany.  2023 final defense grade of 91.3, run defense 87.4, pass rush 90.6 and 68.5 coverage grade. Impressive 5 * in 2023 along with 12 sacks and 2 PDs.  See what he can do at Arkansas against better competition.  Round 5

• Edge Jasheen Davis (Wake Forest) – great speed, 64% tackling, 84% pass rush, 77% run defense.  Rounds 5-7

• Edge Brian Ugwu Miami (OH) – Poorer 35% tackler in 2023, pass rush 69%, and a 68% run defense grades.  Round 6-UDFA

• Edge Josaiah Stewart (Coastal Carolina) – slower 4.7s-forty but 78% tackling, 83% pass rush, and 83% run defense.  Did transfer from Michigan to Coastal Carolina for this season.  Round 6-UDFA

• Cashius Howell (Texas A&M) - apparently got a ridiculous twitch and get off LOS, draft stock TBD.

2025 NFL Draft LBs

• MLB/WLB Harold Perkins Jr. (LSU) - a 2022 top-10 recruit as an OLB, off-ball LB/SCB only allowed 4 yards in coverage in Week 11 (2022) vs Arkansas with 2 FF, had 7 pressures on 13 pass-rush reps 6 of which were a sack or hit on QB earning 93.8 grade. Harold was also in the mix as a true freshman led all LBs in Power 5 with a 91.0 pass-rush grade and second among all LBs in the country with 18 QB knockdowns (sacks/hits) and tied for second in the country with 4 *.  2025 NFL Draft class.  Excellent 4.45s-forty.  In 2023 posted an 85% coverage grade, 70% run defense, 85% pass-rush, 72% tackling faced 81% defense rating.  Project R1 potentially as top LB in the class. Quick to drop into zone and covers enough ground to be Tampa-2 MIKE but some feel better suited as a WLB maximize range/speed.  2022 PFF TOW 11 honors.  In 2023 as a true off-ball LB he struggled as a run defender but flashed in coverage, 81.1 coverage grade.  At the end of 2023 now recorded 27 TFLs and 13 sacks with 7 forced fumbles.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1
• WLB Jack Kiser (ND) – 94% tackling, 81% pass rush, 93% run defense, and 88% coverage.  Round 1-2
• ILB Smael Mondon Jr (Georgia) – has the potential to win the Butkus Award.  Great 4.46s-forty and good height 6’3” very solid tackler 90%, pass rush 66%, run defense 65% and coverage 72%.  Heat-seeking missile with true sideline speed.  Projections range from Round 1 to Round 4.
• WLB Abdul Carter (PSU) as a junior had 56 tot, 6.5 sacks, 2 FF and 4 PDs. Carter earned a 90.3 pass-rush grade as an off-ball LB in 2023 but will move to edge this season.  Excellent pass rush 96%, below-average tackler 48%, 72% run defense, and 62% coverage grades.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 2

• WLB Danny Stutsman (Oklahoma) – Earned 2023 TOW 3 honors.  Stutsman had a breakout campaign in 2022, led the Big 12 in tackles, racking up 125 tackles, 10.5 TFLs, three sacks, two picks, and five PBUs.  At around 6’3″, 230 pounds, Stutsman brings eye-popping closing speed, and his motor never cools.  2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  At the end of 2023 now has recorded 267 tackles, including 28 TFLs.  Great height 6’4” and good 4.62s-forty speed.  Good at tackling 78%, pass rush 69%, 75% run defense, and 63% coverage skills.  Rounds 2-3

• LB Barrett Carter (Clemson) - At 6’1″, 225 pounds, Barrett Carter doesn’t quite have the size you’d expect from a top LB prospect. But while he doesn’t blend positional boundaries with his size, he does with his usage and talent. He’s a lightning bolt out of his stance who can attack downhill with zeal and pose a threat as a pass rusher, and he’s a vulture in coverage with his closing burst.   In 2022 was one of the most well-rounded LBs earning 75+ grades run, pass, and in coverage.  Good 4.55s-forty speed with great shuttle 4.13s time and 40” vertical.  Decent tackler 61%, 77% pass rush, 73% run defense, and 73% coverage grades.  Rounds 2-3

• MLB Jason Henderson (Old Dominion) junior – Henderson’s 16 TFLs or no gain are five more than the next closest LB this season.  His 52 plays with first contact are also tied for the most in college football while his 16 pressures are tied for 6th among FBS LBs.  He is the highest graded LB in 2023 (88.2).  Clearly has a knack for the ball quickly utilizes his quickness to slip blocks but am concerned over his ratio Solo/AST. 2023 earned college football midseason all-America First Team. – new addition.  Henderson’s 88.2 overall grade through 6 weeks makes him the highest graded FBS.  Had 19.5 TFLs.  Round 3

• R3 Rover LB Karene Reid (Utah) - In 2023 after 4-5 weeks earned an 87.7 PFF grade.  Does more than excel in coverage as he is only 1 of 3 LBs in the country with a 75.0 plus run-defense, pass-rushing, and coverage grades this season.  Roving safety play nickel and provide run supports as a LB covering assignments out of the slot and even deep coverage.  Round 3

• LB Dasan McCullough (Indiana) – 4.58s-forty and good height 6’5” with 78% tackling, 61% pas srush, 83% run defense, and 85% coverage.  Round 3

• MLB/OLB Jay Higgins (Iowa) Tampa 2-Mike or OLB a little slow 4.72s-forty but is an excellent tackler 92%, 66% pass rush, 88% run defense and 96% coverage.  See what a second full year can do to his draft stock. 2023 college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  Round 3

• WLB Kendre’ Gant (Louisiana) junior if he declares – Only one of two LBs excelling in 2023 with a 90.7 run-defense grade good for 2nd among FBS LBs while earning a 87.2 PFF grade.  Listed as BU on Ourlads but has 31 TOT, 3 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR and 1 PD after 5 games in 2023.  Gant finished 2023 season with 64 TOT, 6 sacks, 3 FF, 3 FR and 3 PDs.  Has ideal height at 6’4” and 222 pounds.  Rounds 3-6

• LB/Edge Collin Oliver (Oklahoma St) – 6’2” 235 pounds runs a good 4.6s-forty.  Poor tackler 48% but excels in pass rush 86%, run defense 64%, and 79% coverage grades.  Recorded 38.5 TFLs and 21.5 sacks in 130 career tackles.  More a big play without prototypical size. Chance to get drafted as early as Round 2 but more likely to go in Round 4.

• LB Eugene Asante (Auburn) great 4.54s-forty small on height on 6’1”, 88% tackling, 80% pass rush, 76% run defense, 58% coverage grades.  Rounds 4-5

• MLB Jacob Dobbs (Holy Cross) final 2023 defense grade 92.0 (1st), an 88.2 run defense grade (18th), pass rush grade 87.5 (4th), and 85.5 coverage grade (28th).  4.60s-forty, excellent shuttle 4.09s.  Rounds 4-6.

• MLB Power Echols (UNC) - 2022 TOW 0 honors, 2023 TOW 4 honors. 2023 college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Below-average 4.70s-forty and poor height only 6’0”, 71% tackling, 73% pass rush, 72% run defense, and 73% coverage grades.  Rounds 6-UDFA

• SLB/Edge Khordae Sydnor (Purdue) impressive 4.47s-forty speed says LB can envision him being a SLB but needs developed only 60% tackling, 66% pass rush, 62% run defense, and 73% coverage.  Rounds 6-7

• CB Malaki Starks (Georgia) Sophomore – Former top-10 recruit.  As a freshman 2022-2023 after 2-3 weeks PFF graded 87.8 DEF, 81.1 RDEF, 65.9 PRUSH, 87.3 COV.  Finished with a 72.1 run-defense grade and was 3rd among true freshman safeties in the Power 5.  Starks recorded 8 combined INTs and * tied for 5th among SEC safeties in 2022.  After 4 weeks in 2023 Starks is the highest-graded safety with a 90.9 PFF grade.  Only safety in the country with an 85.0 plus grades in both run defense and in coverage.  2023 college football midseason all-America First Team.  Not an ideal fit for the Colts as a Man/Press rather than zone. Finished the season making 2023 PFF College All-Second Team.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

• CB Benjamin Morrison (ND) Sophomore – PFF Week 10 honors in 2022 – in Week 10 seen 13 targets in coverage allowing 3 first downs with an 2INT/1TD-Pick 6 vs Clemson earning a 90.5 coverage grade.  earned PFF Week 12 (2022) Defensive POW for second time in three weeks.  Picking off 3 passes and allowed 1 catch in shutout win over BC.  Saw 6 targets and gave up one for a 32-yard gain while earning a 91.9 PFF grade in press-man coverage.  Great 4.39s-forty speed as a CB.  Excellent in coverage 93%, 91% zone, and 89% man/press.  Needs to improve tackling 67% and 62% run defense.    Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Projects Top 10.  Quinyon Mitchell vibe for next year's draft.

• CB Ricardo Hallman (Wisconsin) sophomore – 2023 PFF TOW 6 honors.  After 5 games Hallman is T-9 in PDPG with 1.3.  Hallman only has 3 PBU also has 4 INTs.  Finished 2023 with 34 tackles, 3 TFLs, 7 INTs, and 5 PDs.  AP Third Team All-American, All-Big Ten third team.  Academic All-Big Ten.  Even Marvin Harrison Jr. struggled to produce versus Hallman last season.  Hallman draped Harrison Jr with tight coverage and perfectly timed the deflection.  Keen zone instincts helped him to jump in front of Harrison Jr on a crossing route and score a pick.  Hallman has a nose for the football with great playmaking ability and zone instincts.

• SS Kevin Winston Jr (PSU) – 2% missed tackle rate ranked 2nd among all safeties in 2023.  Only safety with 85.0+ grade in coverage and run defense.  Blackmon signed a 1-year deal and Winston has a chance to be the future depending on how Nick Cross plays in 2024.  100% tackling, 99% run Defense, 94% coverage, 82% zone, 92% Man/Press with great 4.45s-forty speed.  Very high on Winston Jr as a top Colts pick next year.

• SS Xavier Nwankpa (Iowa) great 4.39s-forty speed, 71% tackling, 82% run defense, 93% coverage, 84% zone, and 93% man/press.  Round 1-2

• FS Rod Moore (Michigan) missed some time in 2023 undisclosed reason.  Lacks strength in tackling.  Ideal for two-deep safety.  Excellent 4.40s-forty.  Best safety in the 2025 class with 82% man/press, 70% zone, 80% coverage, 83% run defense, 85% tackling.  Must stop being grabby and prone to flags.  Made PFF 2022 honorable mention.  Round 2

• SS/OLB Cole Wisniewski (ND ST) final defense grade 93.3 (1st), pass rush 62.6, coverage grade 91.8 (2nd), and 90.4 run defense grade (12th).  Tall 6’4” 217 pounds. had 1 FF and 8 INTs this season, fits the bill of an average SS.  Round 2

• SCB-FS Sebastian Castro (Iowa) – hybrid LB/SAF role – also the team captain as a junior and senior. Returning to Iowa in 2024. Below-average speed 4.60 assume moves to FS.  Probably the best SAF outside of Rod Moore (Michigan).  Man/Press 93%, zone 80%, coverage 93%, run defense 86%, tackling 66%.  Castro led all FBS corners in 2023 with a 91.4 grade.  His 19 coverage stops were also the most in the nation, and he ranked 9th in that group with 0.46 yards allowed per coverage snap.  Made PFF’s 2023 All-American list.  Round 2

• CB Tacario Davis (Arizona) – great height 6’4” average speed 4.51s-forty.  74% tackling, 72% run defense, 87% coverage, 87% zone, and 82% man/press grades.  Round 2

• FS Hunter Wohler (Wisconsin) – good height 6’2” slower 4.52s-forty, 93% tackling, 86% run defense, 94% coverage, 89% zone, and 89% man/press.  Rounds 2-3

• CB Quincy Riley (Middle Tennessee) – 6’0” 188 pounds run 4.5s-forty.  70% tackling, 67% run defense, 80% coverage, 77% zone, and 78% man/press grades.  Had outstanding QB rating when targeted throughout his career.  Great hands and anticipation for INTs and breaking up passes.  Does tend to get a bit grabby leading to penalties and focuses too much on strip more than tackles.  Rounds 2-3

• CB Jacobee Bryant (Kansas) – above-average height 6’0” poor playing weight at 170 pounds (1%), decent 4.45s-forty speed. 67% tackling opts for the strip over tackling, 92% run defense, 80% coverage, 76% zone, and 78% man/press grades.  Round 3

• CB Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky) – 6’1”, 4.48s-forty, 89% tackling, 70% run defense, 89% coverage, 84% zone, 89% man/press.  Round 3

• FS Jahdae Barron (Texas) - good 4.45s-forty small sized 5’11”, 77% tackling, 86% run defense, 78% coverage, 75% zone, 75% man/press.  Round 4

• CB Jordan Hancock (OSU) 6’1” 4.45s-forty, 74% tackling, 71% run defense, 80% coverage, 70 % zone, 84% man/press.  Round 4

• RCB Jason Marshall Jr. (Florida) The 6’1″, 198-pound DB picked up an interception and eight PBUs in 2022 and is primed for a breakout in 2023.  Solid QB passer ratings, 76.8 in 2022 and 59.8 in 2021.  In 2023 had 26 TOT, 1 sack, and 11 PDs.  Had 67% tackling, 76% run defense, 74% coverage, 70% zone, and 73% man/press grades in 2023.  Round 4

• CB Denver Harris (Texas A&M) – Got good 4.39s-forty speed, small side 5’11” 173 pounds (3%), below-average tackler 48%, 74% run defense, 66% coverage, 65% zone, and 66% man/press.  Like to see add weight and improve tackling.  Tendency to get grabby.  Lacks physicality and doesn’t have the frame to carry a lot of additional weight.   Struggles to make tackles versus bigger backs.  Round 4

• SS Keon Sabb (Alabama) – 6’1” 208 pounds, 84% tackling, 83% run defense, 79% coverage, 82% zone, and 76% man/press grades in 2023 with Michigan.  See how he does after transferring to Alabama. Round 4

• CB Jabbar Muhammad (Washington)- 2023 PFF TOW 2, 12 honors.  2025 NFL draft average 4.52s-forty, needs to improve tackling only 57%, decent run defense 68%, 79% coverage, 75% zone, 77% man/press.  He earned an 86.7 coverage grade over the last two season breaking up 21 passes.  Could improve to R1-2 consideration in 2025 NFL Draft but right now has a Round 4 grade.

• CB Malik Spencer (Michigan St) 6’1” 4.5s-forty, 96% tackling, 88% run defense, 65% coverage, 63% zone, 65% man/press.  Round 5

• CB Aydan White (UNC) 4.5s-forty speed, 82% tackling, 69% run defense, 77% coverage, 72% zone, and 75% man/press grades.  Round 5

• FS Rayuan Lane III (Navy) senior – Lane is the only other safety in 2023 after 5 weeks with an 80.0+ grade in both run defense and coverage earning an 87.8 PFF grade.  Finished 2023 with 66 TOT, 0.5 sacks, 2 FF, 1 FR, and 4 INTs (1-Pic 6) plus 8 PDs. The 2023 Defense Authorization Act bill only allows service academy graduates to accept professional sports contract two years after graduation.  Round 6

• LCB Noah Tumblin (SDSU) – 2023 after 5 weeks Tumblin has been a ballhawk for the Aztecs with 2 INTs and 8 PDs.  His forced incompletions combined with INTs lead all corners in the country.  Finished 2023 with 35 TOT, 2 INTs and 12 PDs.  Good height 6’2” 185 pounds.  PFF grade 83.0.   Round 6

• LCB Tony Grimes (Texas A&M) - after accumulating 16 pass deflections and a pick over the 2021 and 2022 campaigns in North Carolina.  Grimes, a former five-star, has high-end athleticism and proportional length, and plays the ball with patience and focus.  In 2022 Grimes recorded 6 tackles with 7 passes defended.  In 2021 he broke up nine passes.  Had 9 penalties in 2021.  Finished 2023 74% tackling, 54% run defense, 66% coverage, 67% zone, and 65% man/press grades.  Round 6

• CB Tommi Hill (Nebraska) – 4.55s forty speed, 68% tackling, 73% run defense, 82% coverage, 77% zone, and 81% man/press grades.  In 2023 had an outstanding QB rating when targeted of 38.6.  With another solid year Hill could move up.   Round 7

• NCB Yam Banks (South Alabama x’fer to ole’ Miss) - Made 2022 PFF College All-America Second Team.  For 2024 listed as backup.  Round 7-UDFA

• FS Flip Dixon (Rutgers) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team.  Round 7-UDFA

Round 7 - UDFA LS Byron Floyd (PITT) junior – Floyds 81.7 grade this season leads all FBS LS.  Of his 41 LS on both punts/kicks only one has been charted as off-target.  Entered transfer portal for 2024.  Does have ties to Colts new DL coach.  Very rare for LS to get drafted most go UDFA.

• QB Kaidon Salter (Liberty) - In 2023 after 9 weeks is ranked 3rd with an 87.0 PFF grade.  His 9.8% big time throw ranked 3rd among all FBS QBs while his 638 rushing yards are the 4th most.  2023 College Football All-CUSA Team.

• OT Aireontae Ersery (Minnesota) - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  His 86.7 run-blocking grade trailed only Taliese Fuaga last season who was drafted R1P14 by the Saints.  Still inconsistent at time, Ersery has shown flashes in pass-protection only allowing one pressure on 23 pass-blocking snaps (versus OSU and Jack Sawyer/JT Tuimoloau).
• RG Luke Kandra (Cincinnati) – While at Louisville, Kandra was a standout guard over the last two seasons and could have been a Day 2 draft pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.  This past year at Cincinnati he earned an overall 81.9 grade (3rd) and 81.3 run-blocking grade that led all returning Power Five guards.  He placed in the 98th percentile this past season in PFF GAS metric and done well in 2022.  Kandra should thrive in a zone-blocking scheme.  Didn’t allow a sack or a hit on 160 pass-blocking snaps.
• RT Victor Stoffel (Cal) x’fer from Temple - 2023 PFF TOW 3 honors. After 4-5 weeks in 2023 shown dominance in the run game earning an 81.9 RB grade leadings all Group of Five tackles.  2023 College Football All-AAC Team.
• OC Jacob Gideon (Western Michigan) – in 2023 after 5 weeks had a 77.5 PFF grade and gave up only 1 pressure on 139 PB snaps while earning a 73.5 RB grade 2nd among Group of Five centers.  2023 College Football All-MAC Team.
• LG Dylan Fairchild (Georgia) – In 2023 finished with an excellent 86.8 pass-blocking grade (4th) among Power Five guards.  Also didn’t allow a sack or hit on any of those 286 snaps.  On run-blocking grade on gap runs Fairchild scored in the 90th percentile PFF GAS metric.  Great height 6’5” and 315 pounds with good 5.15s-forty speed.  2023 finished with 88% PB and 69% run blocking grades.

• RB Quinton Cooley (Wake Forest) x’fer from Liberty - 2023 College Football All-CUSA Team.  Smaller RB 5’7” in 2023 rushed 221 times for 1401 yards (6.3 avg) and scored 16 TDs.
• RB-KR Jacquez Stuart (Toledo) - 2023 College Football All-MAC Team.  In 2023 Stuart returned 21 kick-offs for 582 yards (27.7 avg) with 1 TD.  Smaller size RB only 5’9” 178 pounds.

• WR Jalen Royals (Utah St) – No stats in 2022 but in 2023 hauled in 71 catches for 1080 yards and 15 TDs.  2023 College Football All-MWC Team.
• WR-PR LaJohntay Wester (or Webster?) (Florida Atlantic) - 2023 College Football All-AAC Team not only as a WR but also as a punt return specialist. 2022 PFF TOW 0 honors, 2023 TOW 10 honors.  5’11” 167 pounds also been used as an option RB.  In 2023, Wester returned 14 punts for 278 yards (19.86 avg – much better than in 2022 only had a 9.71 avg and 6.79 avg in 2021) with 1 TD.
• WR Kris Mitchell (ND) x’fer from FAU. 2023 College Football All-CUSA Team.  Only five players caught more deep targets than Mitchell in 2023 and four were drafted in 2024.
• WR-KR Jayden Harrison (ND) - 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team with Marshall as a kick-off specialist.  In 2023 accumulated 705 yards on 23 returns (30.65 avg) with 2 TDs.  During spring practice Harrison sprained his plantar fascia in his left foot.  5’11” 198 pounds.  Not much of a WR and imagine only make the final roster for special teams.

• TE Benjamin Yurosek (Georgia) – 2023 PFF TOW 1 honors caught 9-11 passes for 138 yards.  Displayed athletic ability making several tough catches.   In 2022 had a receiving grade at Stanford 79.9 to 65.5 and missed the final six games in 2023 with a shoulder injury.  As a sophomore in 2021, Yurosek was named PFF first-team All-Pac 12 honoree and ranked 4th among Power Five TEs with 335 YAC.  Only three other CFB TEs have racked up more receiving yards than Yurosek (Brock Bowers, Michael Mayer, and Dalton Kincaid).  Carson Beck just found his new best receiving target for 2024.
• TE Caden Prieskorn (Mississippi) – Started 2023 with a knee injury missing the first three games.  A Memphis transfer, Prieskorn 449 receiving yards were 9th most among all CFB TEs.  His 1051 receiving yards and 527 YAC since 2022 both rank fourth.  Had a career day versus PSU catching 10 of his 11 targets for 136 yards and 2 TDs.  75% hands, 77% short receiving, 84% intermediate routes, 74% deep threat, 60% blocking.
• TE Harold Fannin Jr. (Bowling Green) – 2023 after 10 weeks has an 81.5 grade.  His 241 yards after catch are 4th most among all TEs in college football only Brock Bowers averages more yards per route run.  Tweener weight only 230.  2023 College Football All-MAC Team.

• Edge Caiden Woullard (Oklahoma) - 2023 College Football All-MAC Team while playing for Miami, OH.
• NT Howard Cross III (ND) only 6’0 280lbs but having a breakout year after 5 weeks with a 90.7 overall grade with an 86.5 run-defense grade and a 90.3 pass-rush grade.  His 20 pressures are tied for second while his 16 run-defense stops are tied for third.  2023 midseason all-America First Team.  In 2023 Cross finished with the third-best overall PFF grade (90.1) and third-best pass-rushing grade (89.8) among FB IDLs.   His 29 run-defense stops tied for second among all IDLs in 2023.  For comparison see NT Michael Pierce (Ravens) 6’0 but 355 pounds does well at 6’ tall, but the Ravens does use a 3-4 base.  NT DJ Jones (Broncos) is another 6’ 305-pound player on a 3-4 base.  Grady Jarrett (Falcons) another solid comparison where the Falcons also use a 3-4 base.  Earned All-American Honors 2023.  Made 2023 PFF College All-Second Team. 
• Edge Elijah Roberts (SMU) - 2023 College Football All-AAC Team. Roberts had a stellar 2023 with 37 TOT (21 solo/16 AST), 9.5 sacks, 2 *, and 2 PDs.
• DT-3T Thor Griffith (Harvard) - 2023 College Football FCS All-America Team.  In 2023 had 55 TOT (25 solo/30 AST) with 3.5 sacks, and 1 FF.
• DT James Carpenter (Indiana) - 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team with James Madison.  From 2022-2023 averaged 52.5 TOT with 9.5 combined sacks, (2023 had 1 FF and 2 FR).  6’2” 282 pounds.
• Edge Aaron Lewis (Rutgers) - 2022 PFF Weeks 6 and 12 honors.  A disappointing 2023 season compared to 2022 grading 10 points lower.  (75.9 in 2023 compared to 85.5 in 2022).  Poor run-defense grade of 59.8 but was still an elite pass rusher.  His 91.5 pass-rushing grade since 2022 ranks 10th among all FBS edge defenders and his 18.7% pass-rush win rate places 11th in Power Five.  Needs to improve his run game.

• LB Ozzie Nicholas (Duke) - 2023 College Football FCS All-America Team playing for Princeton.  Nicholas racked up 102 TOT (48 solo/54 AST), 4.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, and 3 PDs in 2023.
• LB Jaishawn Barham (Maryland) – In 2022 as a true freshman for Michigan, Barham placed 5th among Power Five LBs with an 83.1 PFF coverage grade and 7th-most valuable LB in the country.  Injuries limited his time as a sophomore and only posted a 44.7 PFF coverage grade in 2023.  Barham looks to rebound after transferring to Maryland for 2024 season.
• R5 LB/SAF CJ Taylor (Vanderbilt) – 6’1” 201 pounds. Taylor spent 55% of his snaps near the DLOS and in the box in 2023.  In 2022 he was 3rd among SEC safeties with an 84.9 PFF coverage grade, while his 10 pressures ranked 1st.  In 2023 he was third among all LBs in the conference with a 61.8 passer rating allowed.  Miss some game time due to a leg injury.  Reminds me of Jaylon Carlies whom the Colts just drafted in Round 5P151.  Carlies is currently listed as 3rd string MLB.
• R5 ILB Jamon Dumas-Johnson (Kentucky) – (Georgia 3-4 ILB) Over the past two years at Georgia, Dumas-Johnson’s 80.2 PFF run-defense grade leads all SEC LBs.  He is 5th in same group with a 24.2% pressure rate (2022 was 26.7% good for 2nd best in the SEC).  See how he does now that he transferred to Kentucky after an injury shortened season in 2023 with a fractured forearm.
• LB Jeffrey Bassa (Oregon) – In 2023 Bassa was one of the most improved played in CFB.  After posting just a 45.2 PFF grades in his first two seasons he posted an improved 76.9 mark.  Bassa improved his coverage grade in 2023 to 76.7 according to PFF, more than 25 points higher than previously.
• LB Carson Bruener (Washington) – Since 2022 Bruener has excelled earning a 84.3 coverage grade, second among Power Five LBs (Jay Higgins #1).  Stock should increase with Edefuan Ulofoshio gone.
• LB D’Eryk Jackson (Kentucky) - 2023 College Football All-SEC Team.
• LB Ahmad Walker (SMU) - 2023 College Football All-AAC Team.  Small size 5’11”

• CB Jaidyn Denis (Memphis) - 2023 College Football FCS All-America Team playing for Elon.  In 2023 Denis had 30 TOT (19 solo/11 AST), 1 sack, 2 FF, 1 FR, 3 INTs, and 7 PDs.  Got ideal height 6’2” and 191 pounds.
• SS Kaleb Culp (Texas State) - 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team.  From 2022-2023 averaged 81 TOTs.  (2022-1/2 sack and 2 FF) (2023 had 4 FR) with 4-5 PDs in those same years.
• SAF Xavier Watts (ND) – Watts won the Bronko Nagurski Trophy in 2023 as the best defensive player in CFB.  Watts led the FBS with 7 INTs last season and didn’t allow a touchdown into his coverage.  His 37.8 passer rating allowed in 2023 was the eight-best mark by a Power Five safety.  Watts still needs to improve his tackling, especially in the run game as he posted only a 62.5 PFF run-defense grade in 2023.  Missing 18% of his tackle attempts, yikes.
• FS Akili Arnold (USC) - 2023 College Football All-Pac-12 Team.  Oregon State transfer.  Overall PFF 79.9 grade.  In coverage had an 85.7 grade with opposing receiver catching 54% of passes (19-of-35) for 177 yards.  Missing only 6 tackles in 664 snaps.
• Rover/LB-SAF Justin Barron (Syracuse) - 2023 College Football All-ACC Team.  Defensive Captain. 6’4” 231 pounds had 0.5 sacks, 3 *, 1 FR, 1 INT, and 8 PDs in 2023.
• CB Shavon Revel (East Carolina) – 2023 PFF TOW 7 honors.  2023 College Football All-AAC Team.  In 2023 had 55 TOT (30 solo/25 AST) 1 sack, 1 FR, 1 INT, and 6 PDs. 
• CB Jordan Oladokun (Bowling Green) – last year Quinyon Mitchell made a name for himself, and Oladokun flashed his potential in 2022 with 8 PBUs.  In 2023 he had 4 INTs (one against JJ McCarthy) and 6 PBUs and has shown he can shut down opponents.  2023 College Football All-MAC Team.
• FS Jaden Voisin (South Alabama) - 2022 PFF TOW 12 honors. 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team.  In 2023 Vosin racked up 71 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 4 INTs, 7 PBUs and 1 FF.
• SS Shawn Asbury II (Indiana) - 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team with Old Dominion.  Asbury had 95 TOT (39 solo/56 AST) with 1 INT and 4 PDs in 2023.  Small size 5’9” 192 pounds.
• CB/SAF Caleb Ransaw (Tulane) - 2023 College Football All-Sun Belt Team with Troy.
• CB/WR Travis Hunter (Colorado) – 2023 PFF TOW 1 and 9 honors. Hunter was Colorado’s top CB while adding 721 receiving yards (2) on the team.  In nine games accounted for 1044 snaps, most by any players in CFB.  Routinely matched up against opponent’s best he still impresses with 3 INTs (2nd) among PAC-12 CBs.
• R6 CB Dorian Strong (Virginia Tech) – 2023 PFF TOW 11 honors. In 2023 Strong led all FBS CBs in completion rate allowed (27.3%) and yards allowed per coverage snap (0.24) while ranking second in passer rating allowed (11.8).  Got excellent mirroring ability with great footwork.  6’0” 180 pounds with decent 4.42s-forty speed.  68% tackling, 66% run defense, 79% coverage, 71% zone, and 77% man/press grades in 2023.
• CB Denzel Burke (OSU) – In 2023 Burke allowed a catch on only 19.1% of his targets in single coverage (8th) best among FBS CBs.  On 21 targets in single coverage, he made more plays on the ball (6 combined INTS and forced incompletions) than he allowed catches (5).
• R5 FS Aubrey Burks (West Virginia) – Burks has quietly been one of the best Power Five safeties over the last couple of seasons earning a PFF overall grade 90.2 (2) and coverage 90.3 (1).  His 22 coverage stops in that span is third among all Power Five Safeties.  He still needs to improve as a tackler.  2023 PFF TOW 10 honors.

Tell it was a boring time during Covid when I originally put a lot of this listing together and have continued to add more each year and follow-up.  Will be interesting to follow-up on players that have transferred with great upside to boost their draft stock from D1 programs.

·         UDFA QB Tyler Van * Miami (Fl) – 2023 after 4 weeks earning first round accolades.  Has 13 big-time throws leads all Power Five QBs with an 85.3% adjusted completion rate (5th) with a 94.3 PFF grade.  Struggled in Weeks 5-8 throwing 2-3 INTs each game.

·         UDFA RB Harrison Waylee (Wyoming) – In 2023 clocked 21.8 mph in Week 4 T18 fastest player.

·         UDFA RB Hope Adebayo (St. Thomas) - in 2023 earned 89.5 PFF Grade and in D1 tied 5th as best running back.  Isaiah Davis finished 1st and was drafted in Round 5 by the NY Jets while #4 Jalen Jackson went UDFA.

·         UDFA RB/KR Lan Larison (UC Davis) finished 2023 tied 7th overall FCS RB with an overall 89.2 PFF Grade (R5) in D1.  On 178 carries rushed for 1101 yards scoring 13 TDS while adding two more through the air on 21 REC for 198 yards.  Larison was the 2023 Big Sky Offensive Player of the Year.  In 2021 averaged 29.91 yards as a kick returner and 21.9 yards in 2022.  Like in 2024 Jalen Jackson and Jyran Mitchell, Larison should go UDFA.

·         UDFA RB Kayvon Britten (Tarleton State) from Cincinnati, in 2023 tied 7th with an overall 89.2 PFF Grade.  Small bell cow 5’7” 195 pounds but in 2022-2023 rushed over 1000 yards per season scoring 16 TDs/season.  Also show hands to be a receiver.   Project UDFA much like Colts signing Jyran Mitchell and Chargers signing Jalen Jackson in the post-2024 NFL draft as UDFAs.

·         R3 TE Oscar Delp (Georgia) good 4.52s-forty 6’5” 245 pounds descent run-blocker 61%

 

·         TE Jalin Conyers (Texas Tech) - In 2022 Conyers forced 21 missed tackles which led all TEs in the country.  Plus, ranked 4th in receiving yards after contact (170).  As a redshirt freshman in 2021 had a 73.5 pass-blocking grade while playing at Arizona State.  Conyers can be elusive with the ball in his hands.  In his first season was used heavily as a run-blocker (2021) and excelled as a blocker ranking him 4th in the Pac-12.  Back in August 2023 Rick Spielman said he may be the best run-blocking TE in the class behind Cade Stover.  Considered a true Y TE efficient at run-blocking and can catch with run-after ability.  Spielman said last year would have had a Late Day 2 grade, while Ryan Wilson says Rounds 3-4.  Potential to be a red zone monster in the NFL if he continues to grow his game.  Ja’Tavion Sanders fell to Round 3 in 2024 and was projected to be better than Conyers.  Big fan of Cowboys.

 

·         R6-UDFA TE Ben Yurosek (Georgia x’ferred from Stanford) – Had 42 catches in 2021 averaged over 15 YPC.

·         UDFA TE JJ Galbreath (South Dakota) - In 2023 in D1 had an overall 72.6 PFF Grade.  6’4” 240 pounds.  Project UDFA like TE Owen Glascoe in 2024 (invite to NE) and TE Cam Grandy UDFA by the Bengals.  The Jackrabbits consider themselves the FCS ‘Tight End U’.

·         UDFA SWR/RB/KR/PR Chris Tyree (ND) 4.29s-forty speed excellent 3.95s shuttle (HS) and 38” vertical (HS).  In 2023 Week 9 clocked 21.0 mph.

·         WR Bo Belquist (North Dakota) 2023 overall 88.6 PFF Grade.  For D1 graded out as one of the top 10 WRs behind Hayden Hatten 86.1 whom the Seahawks added as an UDFA.

·         WR-Z Kobe Hudson (UCF) – 2023 in Week 11 clocked 21.0 mph.  In 2023 had 44 rec for 900 yards (20.5 avg) and 8 TDs.  Decent 6’1” height and 208-pound frame.  Struggles to beat press, not elite run after catch speed but adequate.  Average route runner used to playing in a run-heavy offense with marginal run-blocking ability often shying away from contact in the run game.  Often appears to take plays off.

·         UDFA MLB Power Echols (UNC) - 2022 TOW 0 honors, 2023 TOW 4 honors. 2023 college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Below-average 4.70s-forty and poor height only 6’0”, 71% tackling, 73% pass rush, 72% run defense, and 73% coverage grades.

·         SS Mishael Powell Miami (FL) – Powell transferred from Washington.  In Week 8 he clocked 21.0 mph.  In 876 snaps in 2023 Powell played 477 in the slot, 165 in the box, and 122 at FS finishing with a strong 73.9 coverage and 69 defensive grades.

·         DB Kapena Gushiken (Washington St) NCB.  2023 PFF TOW 6 honors with a weekly grade of 88.1.  In 2023 clocked 22.4 mph in Week 6 T5 fastest time.

·         UDFA CB Devin Kirkwood (UCLA) – had a 73% tackling grade, 58% run defense, 62% coverage, 59% zone, and 61% man/press grades in 2023.

·         FS Saiku White (Lafayette) - In 2023 White moved from SS to FS and had a career year with a final 2023 defense grade 91.4 best for 2nd, pass rush grade 74.4, a 90.7 coverage grade 4th best, and an 80.7 run defense grade 98th.   Team Captain.

·         P James Burnip (Alabama) - Burnip’s 90.4 grade this season paced all FBS punters this year. His average hang time of 4.42 seconds led the nation as well.  Made 2023 PFF College All-America Team.  Rigoberto Sanchez will be a FA after 2026.

Oops that’s my mistake. Yeah I completely missed that. My apologies.

 

But yeah he’s one I would keep an eye on for us next year. Him and Will Johnson. It’s a little early to be talking about what the Colts would do in the draft, but I would put money on this being the year Ballard takes a DB high. I could also see him go D-Line again. I love college football and watch as much of it as I can, but I’ll be paying attention to a lot of the guys you listed at those positions. Last season I watched a lot of the teams that had the elite receivers (Washington, Texas, LSU, FSU, etc…).

Deone can truly impact the game on all 3-downs.  According to PFF, he had an 81.7 run-defense grade in 2023.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

• Edge/Viper Ben Bell (Texas St) Junior – Brother is Levi Bell (Seahawks).  2023 after 4-5 games Bell has a 91.8 PFF grade.  His 39.7 pass-rush win rate in nearly 10% points higher than the next closest edge defender.  Bell finished 2023 (Nov. 17) second only behind #1 Latu.  Bell had a 90.7 overall grade with 354 snaps played.  He was ranked #1 in pass-rush win rate (30.3%), while his 22.4% pressure rate ties Latu for 11th.  Ben Bell has been on my watchlist for a couple years now and has that "wow" factor much like Latu.  Don't be shocked to see him drafted in Round 1 but could drop to Round 3.

• Edge Nic Scourton (Texas A&M) – 2023 PFF TOW 1 honors.  At Purdue Scourton was an elite edge-rusher finished 2023 inside top 0 in pass-rush grade (90.0) and pass-rush win rate (21.2%).  See if Scourton can continue his dominance with Texas A&M.  Round 1

• Edge James Pearce Jr (Tennessee) sophomore - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  2023 PFF TOW 7 honors.  Pearce led the SEC with 10 sacks in 2023 and 2nd in the conference with 15 TFLS.  Round 1

• Edge Jack Sawyer (OSU) 6’4” 265 pounds runs an excellent 4.60s-Forty.  Top-5 draft pick potential with an excellent 94% run defense, 94% pass rush, and solid 83% tackling.  Sawyer was the only edge player to earn an 85.0+ grade in both pass-rusher and run defender in 2023.  Jack of all trades can line up anywhere across the DL and our new DC could be creative enough to help him.  Round 1

• Edge/DL Mykel Williams (Georgia) Sophomore 5th best returning edge defenders in college football.  Williams has a 75.9 run-defense grade ranked 4th among SEC edge defenders and led all FBS true freshman edge defenders.  His 6 sacks tied for the most among all true freshman in the country while his 33 pressures were tied for 2nd most.  Williams is a future first round pick. 77% tackling, 78% pass rush, 88% run defense.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Rounds 1-2

• Edge Princely Umanmielen (Florida) junior- 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Second Team.  2025 Draft Class am projecting the be the best Edge and fit for the Colts.  At 6’5”, 255 pounds excellent 4.68s-Forty, great shuttle time 4.26s and vertical 38.5”.  Outstanding pass rush grade 98%, solid run defense 81% but needs to improve tackling only 63%.  In four years has 24.5 TFLS including 14.5 sacks.  Needs to show greater consistency but has the size and explosiveness.  Round 2

• Edge J.T. Tuimoloau (OSU) junior – bigger role now that Zach Harrison off to the NFL. 10.5 TFLs, 3.5 sacks, 2 INTs and FF in 2022.  2023 PFF TOW 3 honors.  2025 NFL draft class and very well #1 DE off the board. Defense rating for 2023 was 81%, 72% tackling, 88% pass rush and 76% run defense.  Top 5 pick if not Top-10.  Downgraded after 2023 season due to inconsistent play only earned a 74.5 grade.  Round 2

• Edge Ashton Gillotte (Louisville) junior - 2023 earned college football midseason all-America Third Team. 2023 PFF TOW 10 honors.  After 11 weeks, Gillotte has generated 37 QB hurries, the 3rd most in the nation.  Overall PFF grade 86.8. Graded above 80.0 as both a pass-rusher and run-defender.  On 2023 season has 11 sacks, with 3 FF and 1 FR.  TO machine.  Named All-ACC-First Team.  Height 6’3” weighs 270 pounds good 4.75s-forty time.  Finished 2023 with a 71% tackling grade, 85% pass-rush and 87% run defense grades.  Made 2023 PFF College All-Second Team.  Round 2

• NT 0/3-tech IDL Dontay Corleone (Cincy) Sophomore – mid-way through 2022 he was 4th nationally with a 91.5 PFF grade making Ivan Pace Jr job on the field easier.  After 10 weeks Corleone has 41 TOT, 3 sacks, 1 FF, and 1 FR.  Freshman 93.9 DEF, 94.8 RDEF, 82.5 PRUSH, 61.8 COV.  led all FBS defenders with a 93.8 grade. His 94.7 run-defense grade was also the best mark by a front-seven defender since Micah Parsons in 2019 and recorded the 6th most run-stop (27) in 2022.  As a pass-rusher placed 8th among all defensive tackles in the country with a 15.6% pass-rush win rate.  2025 NFL draft R1-2 projection.  81% run defense, 77% pass rush grade and 65% tackling.  Round 2

• Edge Elijah Alston (Texas A&M) – 2023 after 8 weeks leads all edges with a 96.1 coverage grade.  Alston was an All-Sun Belt selection in 2023.  See how he does against better competition now that he transferred to Texas A&M.  Alston had a 91.0 overall grade and 90.5 pass-rushing grade based on 235 pass rush snaped while at Marshall.  He racked up 36 QB pressures and added 5 sacks in 2023.  Alston by Nov. 17th was ranked 4th best Edge behind #1 Latu whom the Colts selected in Round 1.  Alston also had 24 defensive stops during this period.  Alston could be drafted anywhere from Rounds 1-3.

• Edge Donnell Brown (Maryland) junior – After 5 weeks in 2023 Brown has a PFF grade of 92.0 with 140 snaps.  He has racked up 8 pressures on 140 snaps plus has 2 INTs and 1 PBU.  Brown finished ranked 10th behind (#4) Elijah Alston and (#1) Latu during Nov. 17th timeframe.  His two interceptions helped him earn an elite coverage grade of 9.2 which was top-5 at his position.  His overall grade was 85.6 with 348 snaps played.  Rounds 2-3

• JACK LB/RDE Kaimon Rucker (UNC) - 2022 PFF TOW 0 honors.  Rucker became first Tar Heel in 10-years to be named the Walker Camp Defensive Player of the Week.  Versus South Carolina he had 5.5 TFLs and 2 sacks.  2023 after 5 weeks has 23 TOT and 4 sacks.   For 2023 finished with 61 TOT, 8.5 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR, and 1 PD.  With 70% tackling, 94% pass-rush, and 75% run defense.  Round 3

• NT/DI Rylie Mills (ND) - – 2023 PFF TOW 4 honors – 2023 college football midseason all-America Second Team.  Great height 6’5”, good 4.79s-forty time, and average weigh 296 pounds.   Decent tackling 71%, 83% pass rush, and 78% run defense.  Round 3

• NT/DT Tonka Hemingway (South Carolina) – good 4.82s-forty light 285 pounds, only 51% tackling, 88% pass rush, and 82% run defense.  Round 4

• DT/NT Alfred Collins (Texas) – great height 6’5” and excellent weight 317 pounds.  Good 4.95s-forty speed with great shuttle time 4.35s and a 32” vertical.  Not a great tackler only 45%, strong pass rush 88% and 77% run defense.  Needs to develop a counter move but has high motor.  Round 5

• Edge Anton Juncaj (Arkansas) – 2022 PFF grade of 75.1 while playing for Albany.  2023 final defense grade of 91.3, run defense 87.4, pass rush 90.6 and 68.5 coverage grade. Impressive 5 * in 2023 along with 12 sacks and 2 PDs.  See what he can do at Arkansas against better competition.  Round 5

From your list above, Deone Walker is used a 3t and a 1t in College -  A huge man that can clog up the middle AND rush the passer

• NT/IDL Deone Walker (Kentucky) sophomore – In 2022 as a true freshman Walker finished 3rd among SEC IDL with an 80.9 pass-rushing grade.  Standing 6’6” 330 pounds he is a behemoth of a young man.  In 2022, at the age 19 he was able to easily beat/hold his own against RG O’Cyrus Torrence.  In 2023 he earned college football midseason all-America Honorable Mention.  In 2023 led all FBS IDL in pressures (51) and led the Wildcats in TFLs (12.5) and sacks (7.5) despite being routinely double-teamed. Deone can truly impact the game on all 3-downs.  According to PFF, he had an 81.7 run-defense grade in 2023.  Made 2022 college football all-America Freshman Team.  Round 1

From your list above, Deone Walker is used a 3t and a 1t in College -  A huge man that can clog up the middle AND rush the passer

 

I would LOVE to get Graham or Walker with our round 1 pick (a trade up if needed)

Looks like Mason Graham is gonna be a top 10 pick.  I doubt we'd be in line for him.

 

My target list for impact DL prospects (with Tankathon rankings)

Deone Walker, DT, Kentucky - 6'6" 348#, 55 tackles, 7.5 sacks, massive guy for either DL1T or DL3T (Tankathon #15)

Nic Scourton, DE, Texas A&M - 6'4" 280#, 50 tackles, 10 sacks, can convert to DL3T (Tankathon #19)

Kenneth Grant, DT, Michigan - 6'3" 339, 29 tackles, 3.5 sacks, only for DL1T (Tankathon #31)

Ashton Gillotte, DE, Louisville - 6'3" 275, 45 tackles, 11 sacks, slightly underweight DL3T conversion (Tankathon #44)

Walker is one of the ones that I am watching..... he is built like a 1T but plays like a 3T

Grant is also a stud as well

I’ve heard a little about Deone Walker. He’s interests me as a potential Buckner replacement down the line. Needs to work on being able win as a pass rusher in ways other than a bull rush. Could sit for two years and be the heir apparent.

Tacario Davis is a county watch at CB. Plays for Arizona. He’s 6’4”!!!! May end up being closer to 6’3” at combine, but he’s getting Tariq Woolen Woolen comps but probably not as fast. @OhioColt I see you have him on your list but I’m just learning about him and I’m already impressed.

 

Next years DB class looks stellar.

I would put a first-round grade on Tacario Davis.  Brents should continue to grow and develop. Ameer Speed has been impressive lately and could see him as CB2 behind Brents.  Obvious lack of quality backups behind Jaylon Jones right now it seems, and Davis very well could fall to us in Round 1 as an option pick.  If we are focusing on a CB early on Day 1 the other option would be Benjamin Morrison (ND).  Otherwise, I am keeping an eye out for Maxwell Hairston (Kentucky) as a draft target.
