None of them personally, we need to wait until 2021 when there is more first round talent available rather than depth at the position. Let’s take a honest look at the QBs in the draft. This fan base is so distraught still over the loss of Luck that they think we need a QB “RIGHT NOW”. After Burrow, Herbert, and Tua when he gets healthy, I don’t see any of the QBs in this draft being good enough to start any time soon, if ever. If we can just be patient for one more year, then we can land another higher pick or even trade up for Trevor Lawrence, Justin Fields, or another breakout college QB.

I do find you theory interesting and I have been on record here that I really like JB and feel with another year of prepping and learning he could be our starter going forward. But the only flaw I see in your argument is us having a high pick next year.  I just don't see us being any worse that 8-8 again.  Which is not high enough to draft a franchise QB, especially in a draft class that looks thin at QB, outside of the top 2.

I have said that I would take a QB in round 2-3 and let him compete for the spot.  At the very least he will push Jacoby to either get better or go in the tank.

I truly don't know though.  I support JB but I can be unbiased and say that I really liked what I say from Love in the bowl game.

I like your reasoning here, but the one thing I have to say is that I think the QB class will be even better next year. Think about it. Every single draft there is a QB that started the year off everyone’s radar and then gets drafted round one after he blows up. Joe Burrow, Baker Mayfield, Jared Goff, and many more all began their years without much chatter, but then went on to dominate. There will likely be another one of those guys in 2021, not to mention that in a class this full of depth QBs, some are bound to return for another year and improve their draft stock.

As for your point about picking that highly, I would much rather trade up for a QB with a complete roster than reach for one with our pick this year and have holes around him. It’s all speculation when it comes to each and every draft, though, so nobody can accurately say anything. We just have to wait and see how everything ends up, and that’s the fun part!

Thanks for the compliment.  I very rarely get them because i am a JB supporter.

As far as your two other points.  Just curious

1.  What other quarterbacks do you see for next year outside of Fields and Lawerence?

2.  What QB would you want to trade for or go after in FA?  I'm on record that if they went that route, I really like Derek Carr.

I like JT Daniels if he can rebound well, as well as possibly looking at Penn States Sean Clifford.

As for the Trade/FA route, I do think Carr is our best option as well, and don't see many other players who would be available and are upgrades at the position

If we got Carr, then would you consider a DT or a top WR a must have in round 1

    • How to beat the Texans and every other team? With a stick!
    • Colts are blessed to have such a great owner !
    • Okay, I know this is a Mr. Obvious post, but bear with me.  What else do you have to do during the dead season, lol?   As a Buckeye, I appreciate how good CJ Stroud is.  In MHO CJ had better WRs and RBs when he was at THE OSU than he has in Houston.   So how did TTUN beat us (bad) two years in a row when he was in Columbus?  Simple, their Offense was way better than our Defense.   Bottom line - the Colts D doesn't have to be great.  Average will be good enough - IF the Colts offense is as good as we think it could be and play ball control, has extended drives, and limits the other teams possessions.  And maybe that's the plan considering Ballard not being too concerned with improving the DB rooms.   (Sure, it would be nice to have a great D.  No argument there)
    • Hey Everyone,   So, I just caught wind of Goodson's apology letter after dropping that short pass from Minshew against the Texans last season. Here's my humorous take on the situation:   "Dear Fans, Coaches, Teammates, and Supporters,   I'm writing to apologize for buttering up that short pass in the most critical moment against the Texans. Look, I know I'm the backup running back, but hey, I'm usually good for catching those short throws - emphasis on 'usually'. My bad for turning a routine play into a blooper reel moment.   To my teammates, sorry for making you wonder if I was secretly playing for the other team. Next time, I'll practice catching more than just footballs thrown by the water boy.   To the coaches, maybe let's reconsider throwing short passes to guys who have hands that are more slippery than a greased pig at the county fair. Just a suggestion.   And to the fans, thanks for turning my drop into a meme. I promise to work on my catching skills so I can make highlights, not lowlights, next season.   Sincerely, Goodson (aka the running back who should stick to running)"   Okay, maybe I exaggerated a bit, but you get the gist. Let's hope Goodson has been hitting those catching drills hard this offseason!
