Tackling Statistics

this years leading individual tackling statistics show a big increase in the number of assists from the past years. has the criteria changed? i think this is a very subjective stat and don't give it a lot of weight. the individual ratios of solo tackles to assists is so much different this year. the team ratios are about the same as other years. could some teams be padding some players stats? it's a very interesting question and am wondering what other peoples thoughts were.

I wouldn't be surprised if some teams are padding the players' stats. There are many situations where it's hard to tell who tackled the ball carrier. Let's say one guy wraps the ball carrier up, but the dude only goes down after 3 more people come in and help the first defender. Do you give just the defender 1 tackle? Or do you give each person involved an assisted tackle? If you do that, you get 4 tackles from 1 play. I don't put too much importance on the tackle stat. It would have been nice if Angerer ended the year at the top, but it's no big deal he didn't.
