Question of the Day - 04/02

No, different QBs from different eras can't not be adequately compared because the rules that governed how they played & the punishment they took was so much different than it is now.

Look at the Steel Curtain Pittsburgh Steelers or Mike Ditka's 85 Bears defense that tried to pulverize opposing QBs. There is no comparison. QBs get pampered today. Facts are facts. LBs & DEs can't touch them without drawing a flag now. Don't get me started on the "roughing the passer penalty." It needs to be dissected & redefined to give the defense a level playing field IMHO.

No. The game is constantly changing. The schemes, the players, the rules, etc. For example, Dan Marino would destroy defenses today (though he did so when he played anyway). For the most part, today's NFL is built for passing offenses to have success.
