  1. I just did some quick math. If you average out MPJs production over the last three years and use that for playing 15 games a season for the next 6, he would rank in the top 65 all time in receiving yards. That is ROH territory. I get he isn’t flashy but he produces. If AR develops like we hope he does, MPJ has a shot at top 50 numbers. To me it’s the blue collar type player teams need to compete for championships. I think we need to resign him and let him be the safety net Reggie Wayne type player for AR. The value for our young QB is immense and should not be taken lightly.
  2. Looks like Stroud is going to be a really good QB for the Texans. I’m looking forward to some epic battles with Houston and Jacksonville. Stroud’s success does zero to change my opinion on Anthony Richardson
  3. Nothing elaborate but my nephew is a huge Eagles fan and a numbers guy. He is saying the defense regressed. They did have a coordinator change mid season and Matt Patricia took over with terrible results. The DL didn’t get pressure like last year and they gave up a lot of big plays on D while the offense sputtered a bit bc of injuries.
  4. Yes that can happen. I can also see him signing for less years and wanting more salary as another option. If I were to guess, I think he is willing to stay with the Colts but ultimately wants to play elsewhere so he can expand his brand and have more QB continuity. I think he will demand 25m per bc of that. Last part is just a hunch so absolutely my opinion.
  5. MPJ is going to get 100+ million from us or another team.
  6. Trading from 15 into top 5 will be way too expensive for a non QB. It took three 2nds for the Jets to swap first with us and that was three spots. I’m open to trading up but unfortunately not at the price to get into top 5.
  7. Not sure if lack of all pro is necessarily a knock on Ballard. Bengals and Texans didn’t either. Miami had one on the first team and Buffalo only got someone in as the slot CB on the second team. Do their GMs suck? Im not saying the team doesn’t need more talent, every team in the NFL needs more talent. We do have spots where we could really use elite talent but AP is a little recency biased and usually is dominated by the best teams that year. Just like the media has been campaigning for Lamar to win MVP for over a month now.
  8. Texans player that was hurt and stopped play when we were driving down the field in the second half. Lost all momentum and basically stopped in our tracks after the injury timeout.
  9. Absolute legend!! End of an era I hope everyone can appreciate. I say this as a huge Tennessee Vols fan. The third week in October won’t be the same.
  10. Thanks for posting this. Crazy the Colts haven’t used franchise tags in 10yrs. Ballard has done a good job of extending guys he believed needed it. Before that it was the end of the Polian/Grigson regimes and a lot of guys were allowed to walk during the transitions. Will Colts pick up Kwitty’s 5th year option? Looks like it will be about $14m. For some reason I thought the option could be removed but now it looks like it’s fully guaranteed. How numbers did improve and he was able to play nearly all the games. Interested to see what the Colts choose to do here bc that’s a lot of money. I’m guessing they may wait until after free agency and the draft to make that decision.
  11. I’m thankful the Titans are probably making a big mistake. I always thought Vrabel was a good coach and wanted him over McDaniels and Reich. I bet he is hired elsewhere this offseason…maybe even the Patriots.
  12. I guess I’m ok with Bradley staying or being replaced. I’ve stated multiple times we need more talent on all three levels of the defense. I trust Steichen to continue to build the offense around AR and as of right now it’s in good shape. Not great but there are a lot of good players on offense. The defense needs the most help and is ultimately what will win us division titles and push us into the playoffs. If they think Bradley has the vision and ability to help build the defense into a strength for this team I’m ok with that. If they feel bringing someone else in will ultimately help the team more I’m ok with that. I feel it’s just as much the players and their lack of talent. The next two years will decide this team’s trajectory for the next decade and I hope they get it right.
  13. The Falcons and I know not one of the options but I want to include the Bengals as well. These were the games that playoff teams need to win. They showed us exactly what we were…an over achieving team. The Bengals game is where I felt this team would not make the playoffs and the Falcons game certainly confirmed it. It’s a bummer the season is over but for the first time since Luck was returning from injury, I’m excited about the future. I’m upbeat and not really concerned about what could have happened but agree it’s fun to discuss.
  14. Understandable! Just like you can’t protect your QB enough you can never have too many weapons on offense. My thinking mostly relies on I believe Shane Steichen can scheme a very good offense with what we have right now. Of course it can be improved on but I see the team benefiting more with playmakers on D and possibly a new coordinator. I am really impressed with our DL coach Nate Ollie and what he has done.
  15. In order of importance and of course my opinion: DE - We have the #2 and #3 options that if paired with a game wrecking DL, it would stress opposing OL all game long. CB - We need an absolute stud at this position that can match up with the opposing #1 and take them out of the game. FS - The safety spots have been a revolving door due to injuries for awhile now. A ball hawking safety that can take advantage of a pressures QB that has his #1 receiver locked up will turn the ball over. WR - I for one think we are sitting in a decent spot with Downs and MPJ if he is resigned mainly due to we have options at TE that will only get better. Pierce is the huge question…the team needs to really evaluate if he is the answer. Not hope he is and see what happens. If we are going to upgrade it needs to be now so they can develop the chemistry with AR. OL - There are not enough starting caliber players for every team. You can never protect your QB enough. Honestly this could be ranked over WR and FS LB - we need a playmaking coverage guy here in a bad way. If the DL and secondary does their job, there will be opportunities in the intermediate areas and flats to create turnovers and stonewall drives.
  16. I agree! I think now that we finally have our offensive mixed coach paired with a QB on a rookie contract we will see a different approach.
  17. I appreciate you trying to explain but I still don’t think it’s that serious. I guess it’s just how you want to look at things. I called us missing the playoffs back when we lost the Bengals game. I knew the remaining schedule would be too tough to stack enough wins bc this team was not good enough. I overall enjoyed this season and was entertained. I don’t think the Colts regressed this year but instead took two steps forward. Still, changes need made but I don’t think firing Ballard should be one of them. Ballard and Steichen need to sit down and make some serious decisions about the coaching staff and roster. It’s time the team goes after game changers for this roster and surrounds AR with a better team to go for it all.
  18. I’m sorry but the Colts losing a football game is nowhere close to someone’s kid dropping out of high school. I get the frustration bc I too think Ballard has underperformed. I’ve been complaining for years bc he chose to chase the delusional veteran QB method that hardly ever works. I think Ballard has been below average at drafting DE, WR and S and it’s really held the team back. I would also of understood and accepted him being fired LAST year. However, we have a good coach and a new rookie QB and firing Ballard would probably be detrimental to this team. They are linked and going for to ride or die together. IMO, the Colts losing is more comparable to someone’s freshman son starting on the varsity team bc of an injury. You think he is going to be burned all year but plays surprisingly well but and despite giving up the big play that loses the last game, he makes all conference honorable mention. Still a good season.
  19. I get what you are saying. I agree this defense can work but with Gus but I could see Shane wanting his own guy. Like you said, we need another playmaker at every level of the defense. I can’t say what will happen but I do know there will be some much needed roster additions either way.
  20. Today is the day! In my circle, even the casual football fans are tuning in for this game. This has been a good year. Except for Brice Arians, I haven’t felt we had a very good coach since Dungy. What Shane has done with this team is beyond impressive.
  21. I agree with you. Rock was capable of playing both zone and man. I think his biggest issue was locating and making a play on the ball. Not sure that is why they shipped him out or more he was the player needed to trade for Yannick. Rock is a backup for Baltimore after Vegas let him walk too. Leads me to believe we had seen enough and he wasn’t developing like Colts thought he would. CB has been a revolving door kind of like DE. Hopefully Jones, Brents or Flowers sticks.
  22. I get how this logic works in theory. However you have to consider the other team is full of players that have also been playing since they were 8. Nothing is like a robot or automatic when you are going against professionals. The Colts do need to adjust and defend the screen better but it really is a tough play that is designed to put a playmaker out in space with OL on smaller defenders set up to defend the sticks.
  23. Lol. Those wanting to blame Reich and Ballard for this. I believe I’ve seen somewhere 1 out 3 Americans have some sort of criminal record. People get in trouble, it’s not their boss’ fault. It’s the individual.
  24. We need both of those guys healthy and on the field. They are very good players. I’m betting Kelly gets extended but a team friendly contract and Smith will continue with his current contract.
