  1. Minshew looking like a back up. Bad calls at the end but Colts ultimately did themselves in with the turnovers. MPJ needs extended now. Yeah he is a low #1 high #2 but he is good. Draft a burner in the 1st to pair with him and both will benefit from each other.
  2. Minshew is too experienced to not get the ball out faster when in his own endzone
  3. Bummer Brent’s went down. On a positive note MPJ is a tough receiver. We need to extend him
  4. Very true!! I honestly think Ballard would have been willing to do it but Reich wanted a veteran. It’s hard to say how much it would have cost. Bills moved from 12th to 7th with two additional 2nds. If I were to guess it would have been another 1st and 3rd and maybe a pick swap or player to go 13th to 4th. Would have been worth it for either of those players and we would be well on our way to building around them. Doesn’t matter bc it didn’t happen. I just hope the Colts make the right decision this offseason to either grab a different QB or start putting weapons around AR. I’m down for whatever lol.
  5. I do have hope for him. He had some good moments. If he can find what works for him to improve his consistency he could be a good player. Sucks we have to wait until next year. It’s going to be difficult for him to shake off the rust from so much missed time while also trying to learn the position. I will say the injury does have a silver lining. He will get a lot of reps rehabbing and hopefully he uses that to tighten up his mechanics. He could come out of this a better thrower. Looking forward to seeing what happens next year.
  6. Completely off topic but related to the QB position. I’ve stated a couple times this team messed up by not trading up for Tua or Herbert. They over estimated how good the team really was and went “all in” with Buckner and Rivers. I thought we were in position to move up to 4 and get a franchise guy. I wanted Tua that year. Would have been expensive but I would rather have Tua than Buckner, Paye and possibly another pick around the 3rd who was Blackmon that year. Choosing not to reset and draft someone after Luck retired could ultimately set this franchise back a decade. Nothing but speculation on my end and what is done is done. Just not happy we went through all the mess and on our 2nd coach to end up with relying on keeping AR healthy enough to use his athleticism to make plays when the regular season beats the heck out of players. Just seems like wishful thinking to expect AR to not get nicked up. Unless he develops rapidly as a passer, any kind of lower body injury that slightly hobbles him will hold this offense back. Now we have the shoulder. Just not a good place to be.
  7. Stroud but he was gone. I was also ok with Levis but not at 4, but trading down into the late first to do it. Ultimately I would have preferred Stroud or no one. Colts kind of backed themselves into a corner where they had to take someone or the fan base would have gone nuts.
  8. Thanks for the thorough reply. I’ve mentioned it once I believe, but try to keep this to myself bc the board overwhelmingly is positive on the guy. I don’t think AR is going to work out for us long term. He may put up a few good years but I think injuries will take away his athleticism for 2-5 games minimum every year. Come playoff time(if we ever make it with him starting), if he gets banged up I’m not sure his arm will be able to carry us through. This style of QB is new to the modern NFL so it’s really hard to judge. All I can really do is wait and see what happens. Still, I would much prefer a pocket passer with mobility than a super athletic freak that is still learning how to throw the ball accurately.
  9. I don’t even know if he is the future of the Colts. He played ok, flashed some great moments but struggled in others. Who knows if he will stay healthy once he recovers. Probably should but there has been enough to at least ask the question. I will say if the Colts season bottoms out and we are in a position to draft another QB high, we need to at least take a look at them and decide for ourselves who will be better long term. AR played some great quarters in the few games he was out there. Saw enough of the good Im behind the team if they choose to build around him. He still has a long way to go with his arm and decision making. Should be fun watching him develop.
  10. I didn’t want us to take him but I agree he is probably better than Levis. I wanted Stroud but he was off the board. I was worried bc AR’s type of play tends to have more injuries. Didn’t think it would be season ending surgery. More of he would constantly have nagging small injuries he could play through but take away his athleticism and make him rely on his arm to make plays when we need it. I feel his style of QB play is great for 5-7 years and then Father Time starts calling. I’m interested to see how Hurts and Lamar play at 30 to 34 once they are a bit beat up from all the hits and they are starting to decline physically. This is kind of new for the NFL so a bit uncharted territory. Cam fell off a cliff but I don’t think he was as complete at QB as Hurts and Lamar.
  11. Minshew will be sub .500 as a starter for us. He is ok but not a starting QB in this league. The biggest thing I’m wanting to see the rest of the year is how Steichen calls the games and if the defense can keep us in it. It’s another evaluation year. Bummer.
  12. Colts should trade any player with expiring contract they don’t think they will resign if a team is willing to give a pick.
  13. Maybe. Still a lot to play out between now and then. I think the Colts should finish out the season and see where they stand. If we are drafting in a spot where a top QB is available, they should do their due diligence. If it shows they are better for the Colts, then I support drafting another QB and trading AR. If AR is the better fit, decide if they are taking another player at that spot or trading down. I’m fine either way bc it means we have chosen a franchise QB. Again, a lot will happen between now and then so we will see how it plays out. Maybe. Still a lot to play out between now and then. 14. Hopefully those 1yd runs vs stacked boxes and a crowded LOS will setup the playaction pass. Hopefully Steichen can get Minshew attacking the seams with MPJ, Downs and the capable TE group.
  15. It’s safe to say Leonard is auditioning for a roster spot the rest of the year. I get the whole working his way back from injury angle but finances will come into play. I believe he has the 2nd highest LB contract in the league and he isnt the best LB on the team right now. A lot of players are on expiring contracts and more due for extensions. Unless Leonard starts showing he has returned to his turnover ways, the Colts probably don’t have a choice but to cut him and save $12m in cap space next year. Maybe more if designated post June 1st but I’m not fully knowledgeable on how that works with roster bonuses and spreading dead cap hit over two seasons.
  16. WR, CB, DE, S and DT are all positions that could use a boost from 1st round talent. DT more bc Grover and Buckner will need extended or replaced. Safety is not high on my list but a play maker back there always helps. I think the first three I listed are extremely important spots to get blue chip players at.
  17. I believe it’s losing this year and taking next year to fully recover physically and get back to where he is growing in the offense. Granted that’s if he has season ending surgery. Missing a few weeks would not have a long term effect.
  18. This!!! The Colts will not tank the season bc they don’t have to lol. Without a real starting QB they will lose enough on their own to have a decent draft pick. Probably wont be top 5 but definitely could be top 10. I expect to lose to the playoff caliber teams and half of the average teams…how this team performs against the bad teams will tell us a lot about the roster and coach. The Panthers and Patriots games should tell us what the rest of the year will be.
  19. The Jags are a better team and it showed. We were capable of winning some games with AR but with Minshew, he will quickly get exposed for the backup he is. I highly doubt we will go .500 the rest of the year with the backup QB. The roster is solid in a lot of ways but without a QB that can make things happen, it will not be enough to win these types of games. Colts aren’t there yet and will take a franchise QB to do it.
  20. Turned on the game to see Jax score back to back TDs. Was going to ask how Minshew looked the first quarter but post here says not so good. I think Jax is a better team overall so not surprised.
  21. This. I was watching just to see AR develop. I was pleasantly surprised with our success bc I thought we would struggle. Unfortunately, I think the season is toast now and Minshew will get exposed as the backup he is fairly soon. He is a great backup but this team is going to struggle the next couple months. Im sure I will watch plenty of games but if my family wants to go do something on game day I will probably be on board. They have always respected me wanting to watch the games. After Saturday took over last year I started skipping 1/3 of them to do things with the family. Probably will happen some more this year. Maybe that makes me a fair weather fan but I’ve been watching them for years(maybe decades) religiously. I thought skipping games would be difficult but the past couple years have not been very entertaining and more frustrating than anything. So to answer the question…yeah my mind has shifted to I have no expectations for the rest of the season. I will watch when I can and wait and see what happens
  22. Probably, threw their name out there bc it was the first team I thought of that always seems close but not enough. I honestly think they are more than one player away and missed their opportunity a couple years ago to go all in.
  23. WR, CB, S, DE and DT are all possible in the first round. First four could use the boost from 1st round talent and DT bc I see us losing Grover or Buckner in the next year or two bc of financials. As far a Jeudy, Day 3 pick would make it worth exploring. I believe he has had health issues and will be due an extension shortly so both drive the price down. I could see a team like the Bills could overpay bc they are ready to contend.
  24. Since everywhere is U scan now that would be a major PITA
  25. Let’s wait and see if Minshew can even go .500 while AR is out. This will be his audition if he ever wants to be bonafide starter in the league.
