Indianapolis to host WWE Royal Rumble/Wrestlemania/SummerSlam

Recommended Posts

Massive deal. Billions of dollars to the local economies inbound from each of these events. The Rumble is my favorite night of the year, so I’m most excited for that one. There’s nothing better than a well done Rumble.

I’ve said since the day it opened that I don’t know why WWE hasn’t run WM at the stadium. Coming in the north entrance and seeing the ring down below and a full house across the way is going to be a killer camera shot.

Hopefully they open the roof for SummerSlam.

Are you sure.   While they will draw many from outside Indy, "billions" for each event seems like a high guess.

To me , not a fan of wrestling, this makes Indy seem a bit more "white trash" like.

I thought the same thing. Millions is probably the correct amount. Wrestling is not my thing but I know plenty of people that do love it. While I understand the “white trash” association for good reasons, plenty of people you wouldn’t expect enjoy the entertainment of it. I even have a friend that played drums in a band heavily played at WWE events. It seems to be either you live it or hate it. I think it’s dumb as can be but I do recognize how people would enjoy it.

On a related topic, I didn’t realize there is a market for wrestling belts. A buddy of mine would buy, sell and trade different belts. They have different levels of quality and you can even get one exactly like the wrestlers have from the same maker. Cost thousands and there is a waiting list but it can be done. Kind of neat but funny too. I watched his wife snap out once when she found out he spent $250 on a wrestling belt. She chilled out when he later sold it for $500 after cleaning it up and giving it a polish.

Wrestling is definitely more popular now than it has been in a LONG time. Having WWE personalities on Pat’s show, him calling Raw and the overall presence they have with the media, Netflix and sports in general has increased viewership a lot. I don’t think it will ever be as popular as it was in the late 90’s with the Attitude era and WCW, but it’s as close now as it has ever been.

    • I mean back up QBs often make the best coaches!!
    • He runs 4.3/4.4. They are always going to run him situationally speaking. That's just always going to be a part of his game. If you watch how Steichen and Cooter design his runs they don't really lead him into direct hits per se, but when a defender breaks through or theres a small gap where not much can be gained AR just needs to learn to slide and not force things too much. I didn't notice us doing too many QB runs with him. We do them here and there. One or two of the injuries or shakeups were on passes where no one was open and he chose to run for the purpose of forcing things to pick up a first down.  This guy will always be a running QB. Just needs to learn how to run without taking big hits.  Russel Wilson in his career for example I do not recall taking big hits, but he ran all the time. The QB in Philly I don't see taking many big hits either. He does and will do his fair share of pocket passing in his career, but I'm not holding my breath on them making him a complete pocket passer.
    • As others have explained Lucas is multi purpose. Doubt Lambeau will be hosting any concerts during the football season but Lucas sure will be swamped by Swifties in November.
    • I stay away usually between draft/fa and preseason since not much happens
    • He definitely has the traits. Hopefully the rest comes with experience.
