WR Mold Going Forward With Wentz as QB

I feel like fans get too focused on the whole #1 WR thing when the real importance in the NFL is depth of your matchups.  You want to be able to force a matchup you want at the #3 WR spot.  When you can do that then it makes it much tougher for the top defenses, most of whom can eliminate your first two guys.  This goes back to that old defensive approach of doubling the top threat and putting your top corner on the secondary threat.

 

The greatest passing offenses always have depth of matchups.  So when I look at this roster that is the need.  And btw matchup can be a great TE, even a top RB in terms of catching the ball out of the backfield.  Also re: the RBs many are good at catching the ball, but not necessarily at the nuance of running routes and setting up the play.  There are a few, though, who do a good job at that, and they're pretty rare, the guys like Faulk or Kamara.

 

If the plan is to get the most from Wentz and bring him to that top level of QB maturity it is going to be crucial to get the pieces around him.  Within that, though, there's a lot of flexibility.
