I think we might trade up after standing pat first at No.34

Recommended Posts

I think we might trade up after standing pat at No.34.

I am thinking we get who we want at No.34 first, see what kind of run is happening and move up from No.46 to No. 43 (Lions who don't have a 3rd rounder) by giving up the Redskins 2nd and possibly 4th (we have compensatory 4th)/5th to get the player we want.

The extra 2nd rounder does give us that flexibility. I am not ruling that out.

I don't think Ballard got that 2nd rounder in order to trade it. IMO we might trade up(either from 59 or 46) usin the 5th or lesser of the 4ths in order to jump some team similar to what Philly did with the Texans for Dillard.

edit: I just realized I misread your post, apologies. We practically said the same thing...

I could see a move up from 59 or 89, using one of our 4th round picks.

No way we trade away the future 2nd we just picked up. If you meant moving up from 46 (giving up the 46), then yes, but I'd think we'd try to improve 59 more.

Yep, that is what I meant.

I feel like Ballard and Reich will get their player they really want at 34.

Then, if a run on WRs or safeties is happening, based on what they think would be available at 46, I would not rule out improving 46 to 43 (or early 40s) with a 4th or 5th rounder thrown in. That is what I meant.

value wise,

our 46 and 129 is equal to 40

our 59 and 129 equal to a 51 or 52

our 89 and 129 equal to 80

Our 59 and 89 equal to 36

    • Tua has a lot to think about.    All the nightmares come back when I see these concussions...    I never made it to the NFL. But I'm still paying a life long price for suffering multiple concussions from my time playing as a running back and safety.    Bad migraines almost on a weekly basis. Severe depression at times. I'll be extremely annoyed and angry for no reason. Sometimes I hate myself with no explanation of why. Cognitive decline... There are moments when I'm teaching and I just pause mid sentence and completely forget what I'm saying. I'm only 36...    My heart fell so hard last night seeing this young man suffer yet another one. Mental health isn't pseudo. It's very physical.    I'm having a rough week, lots a negativity weighs on my mind. I'll probably stay off the forum for the most part unless I get push away this dark fog over me. I'll still come back in to do my picks because it's a welcome distraction.    But I don't think I can handle all the despondency in the main thread this year.    Take care of yourselves everyone.
    • Has he officially made the all white team yet?! 😭
    • You're right. I'll admit to being one of them that complained about Fries. In these situations I'm glad to be wrong.   I don't think the criticisms at the time were unwarranted though. Mine being someone should of been brought in to had him fight for the spot and make him earn it. Us all knowing that not all players work out should show a line of thought of not putting all your eggs in one basket when building a roster.
    • No surprise, but these are some low scores. I hope the people who say that CB coverage doesn't matter that much in this system if the pass rush is adequate are right.   Cornerbacks - Coverage Brents 50.1/105th Jones 36.5/125th (of 128)   Safeties - Coverage Thomas 60.0/65th Cross 49.6/87th (of 99)
    • Has all the makings of a trap game, unfortunately.   Love being out is getting the headlines, but the Colts might also be missing their best defensive player (DeFo), their best S (JB) and one of their starting ERs (Paye).   And one thing that might be overlooked is that while Willis hasn't passed well, he can run. We haven't seen this defense against a mobile QB like that since Week 3 of last year. In that game, Lamar went for 101 yards and 2 TDs on the ground.   So expect to see some designed runs from Willis and frustration when he converts 3Ds.   And after how HOU ran all over the Colts, GB might not even have to pass all that much, so Willis' deficiency as a passer is mitigated. And it's only going to be more difficult with key injuries/limited players on defense., including arguably their best two run defenders in DeFo and Paye.   GB is also a SB contender and need to get back to 1-1. This game ias at Lambeau Field, where GB has a really high winning % and have won 11 straight home openers.   I would love to see a blowout, but I think it's close. I will go with the Colts winning 20-17 because the offense can score just enough to win. And 0-2 would be a depressing start to the season.
