What Kind Of Fan Are You?

I used to take losses very poorly. I by no means would call myself a good loser, but the losses don't hurt quite as bad as they did when I was younger. I've been to a few games (never in Indy) such as the SF game in Lucks 2nd year and the Oakland game in late 2010 (Manning's last away game playing for us) but I prefer to not deal with the traffic and just watch from home. I talk to the tv as if the players can hear me lol

I am a fan that needs to watch from Scotland, so most of the time it is watching on TV, or following on line, however I have stayed up through the night this season to watch us lose as well as attending the game at Wembley. At that game I found myself out of my seat and cheering when we were doing well.

I watch soccer and basketball live most weeks and I find that attending a live sporting event (whatever the sport) as a release. In my work or family life I would never dream of shouting at some-one who had made a decision I disagreed with, but come a Saturday/Sunday afternoon I can easily find myself screaming at a linesman/referee for not giving the decision I thought it should be. After the game is over I will go home and possibly give my comments on internet forums and move on to making dinner for my family.

I think it is something that sports can do to you that nothing else can, your emotions can be amplified at a sporting event (especially if you are watching live in a stadium).

With one kick/flick or pass you can go from having a dreadful experience to having on of the happiest memories in your life.

I have a 10 year old son who is as passionate about sports as I am and I am trying to teach him about how to handle the ups and downs of winning and losing (Mainly losing with the teams we follow).

And, despite the results, regardless of how bad your team plays, you will be there the next week either watching live, watching on TV, following on internet etc.

There are very few things in life that you will give as many chances to as whatever sports team you follow, if you have a bad experience in a restaurant/shop airline etc - you are likely to stop using their services.

Not so with sports teams - week in week out - Rain, hail or shine you are following them.

I don't know what it is, but we all have it - and I hope I never lose it.

I was just saying to my son yesterday, attending a Colts game in Indianapolis is on my "bucket list" and I hope to be able to come across one day, but until then - bring on the next game.
