Here's the problem.

 

Offering just a 6 doesn't move you up 10 spots in the 2nd round.   Not even close.

 

And offering just a 7 doesn't move you up roughly 10 spots in the 3rd round.     Not even close.

 

Teams will want and expect more to move up like that.

 

Picks that low typically won't move you more than a couple of spots.    That's all.

I don't see Fowler dropping to 26th, but the combine will clear things up. If we get a 5th as comp., one thing we could do is package a 5 and a 6, worth 57 points, and trade into the late 4th round. The 4th is a spot where you just get past the top 100 and players who drop unexpectedly are there for the gamble. Remember, we got Montcrief a t#92 last year. He fell due to worries about his hands. If we want a RB, the 4th would be a good place to take one if we have 2 picks. If we get the comp. I would not mind swapping it and the Seattle pick for another 4th rounder!
