I hate that my school closed but I do understand a lot of the reasons behind it. Just will miss those Friday night lights and the epic basketball games with gymnasiums packed full of people. Sad for the kids that love the game but probably not shocking to many.

Wood(East Gibson) has had enrollment and athlete numbers for years There have been rumors about a merger with Princeton Community (North Gibson and Gibson Southern (South Gibson) for years They sold their central office building a few years ago and moved them to the HS

I figured you combine the bad publicity of the hazing and then the CTE stuff and with the insurance going up and up for the sport I figured it was a natural outcome. Guess I'm just saying that it won't be surprising to see other schools have the same issues or even school boards making the decision to cut the program. Again...hate it for the kids that wanted to play but I know my school had 20-30 boys including freshman for many years (we mostly played both ways)....so if they can't even field that many...that sport is likely to not come back anytime soon. Once it is gone...the enthusiasm to bring it back usually quickly dies out.

dgambill
Indianapolis Cathedral's Armaan Franklin becomes the first commit for the 2019 season for Indiana. Congratulations to Armaan and his family and a wonderful young player that IU got. With Trayce Jackson Davis and Keion Brooks Jr. also strong IU leans it is setting up for IU to dominate the state again this year. Archie is doing a fabulous job keeping our best Indiana kids close to home and really appears to be building something special there in Bloomington.
