The 'Savage Nation' is celebrating

Maybe it wasnt so much an affirmation as a reaffirmation. O'Brien has said this all along

But Houston says Tom Savage is No. 1. at QB over rookie Deshaun Watson

Its pre-season but he's 17 of 20 in 2 games.

 

I'm sure Trevor Siemian sent him a congratulatory text

Watson in by Halloween.

 

Savage is a good quality backup, will always have steady numbers but wont win you a game.  I suppose that may be a good fit for a team with a defense like Houston but, with a young QB on the sidelines, any errors will mean the pressure is ramped up.

And? They're not going to start Watson unless he lights the NFL on fire. Watson will probably eventually start, but it's not surprising that Savage is starting game 1.

But its not just abut this season.....Hoyer,  Osweiler...maybe Romo....then Watson

I may be missing a couple of guys

..Imagine that your boss has been trying to replace you for 2 years,..with everybody they can grab up off the street........and you still have the job....

 

I know he's not great but Its not that he's surprising......its that he's surviving

It's not that surprising to you and the others here who know football.

 

But to many here, who don't know football as well as they think they do,  this will be a surprise.....

Watson sits until Savages' performance dictates otherwise. Hopefully Savage will continue as is and next year he can be traded or trade Watson for some goodies. Watson has proved only that he is a rookie playing like one.

I'm all in for Savage.
