Something We Can All Agree On: We All Want Peyton To Retire In A Colts Uniform

We all want Peyton to retire in a Colts uniform. I doubt that there is anyone who disagrees with this. I for one am accepting of the possibility that he might not play his entire career in a Colts uniform. I don't want that to happen, but I understand that it is a possibility. However, no matter if Peyton plays 2+ years with another team(s), I would like to see him officially retire as a Colt and in a Colt uniform. So that means when Peyton eventually declares his retirementm, the Colts should sign him to a 1 day contract or something like that for the first regular season game of the year. He can go out in number 18 sometime during the game and play a down or two if front of thousands of screaming fans. thus taking his first ever snap with the colts and his last

I myself was thinking on this topic . I they dump him this year and he goes to a better team and collect two or three super bowls out of four years do you think he would want to retire here

I just would like to see that happen for nostolgic reasons (spelling?, lol). It would be a fitting end to his career to see him retire in the same jersey as he started in. But I wouldn't be heart-broken if it did not happen that way.

If I remember correctly, didn't Jerry Rice sign a 1 day contract with the 49ers before he retired?

Yes he did and Peyton will almost certainly do the same thing

I think he will retire a colt unless things really end badly. But i think Manning and Irsay have to much class to let that happen. Not saying he will not play for another team but i think he retires as you guys stated signing a 1day contract.

yeah thats the biggest thing for me as well. if there is a "parting of ways" i hope its mutual, friendly decision. I think Green Bay handled the Favre situation poorly, and i don't want to see us mimic that.

Not to argue with you, but I think GB did about as well as they could. Favre toyed with them four 4 years and seriously slowed the development of the team. I would reverse the sentence and say, "Favre handled the Green Bay thing poorly".

Good point. I think they both could of handled it better.

lol.....all I know on this subject is that Luck had better be the best QB to come into the league since Brady/Manning or this whole thing was a waste.

No pressure though, Andrew, no pressure.

That's not really true or fair. If he wins us 2 super bowls in 15 years is that enough. Or will 1 super bowl and another appearance suffice.

I think luck will do just fine. He has a great football iq, very calm under pressure, can run to gain yards or extend the play, has a very good td/int ratio, played in a pro style offense, he can handle the blitz and he doesn't get trigger happy. The sky is the limit for this kid. He had no real weapons at Stanford. If you give him a few weapons and a decent run game he will be a great qb

With people taking about trading/releasing Manning, yea, Luck had better be as good as Manning/Brady or selecting him was a waste in my opinion. If this kid leads to us doing the unthinkable (waiving goodbye to Peyton) how can you not agree?

What's the unthinkable.

It is fair to say he better be a good qb. But I'm pretty sure he will be great

The premature release/trade of Manning (medical issues aside).

When you already have the greatest of all time QB signed for years yet and you draft a QB #1 overall, YES, he god darn better be in lock-step with the Manning/ Brady quality or we >>>ed the pooch with that pick.

We can get "good" QB's all day in the draft and FA. We don't need good, we need great, if we're using the #1 on him.

Worst analogy ever made in the history of mankind. All I can say in response to that is.....What the !#%*?

That made absolutely no sense. Read what you've posted, hang your head in shame and please unplug your internets so that this never happens again.

its the truth ...for u to say oooh yea lets trade pm mean 2 thing to me 1. u havent been a colts fan long enough to respect pm`s craft what he did for this team the colts where a joke john elway didnt wanna be apart of this team we had jeff george as qb we stunk for yearss we where lucky to be 8-8 except that 1 year with harburgh...then pm came and changed how the qb was played and how colts football was played he makes every1 around him good..point blank with out pm ur most likely not a fan of the colts thats the impact he had indy....

this is not how teams work they dont throw there star players away like that

    • To me, it’s also a non- story, but for a different reason.     Because Ryan Kelly, classy guy that he is, has chosen to make it a non-story.  No complaining.  No running to the media to try to generate sympathy.   No hold out OR hold in where you show up but tell the team you won’t practice without a new contract.   He could’ve done any of them.  He chose to do none of them.     I think Kelly is a classy guy.  easy to see why he’s voted a team captain, and I think the union rep.  I also think the Colts under Ballard are filled with classy guys who are easy to root for.  Honestly, it one of the biggest reasons I’ve stuck around since Luck retired.  It’s a fun team to cheer for.    So I like the team, the coaches,  the front office, the owner and the city.   Hope to make it to Indy one day to meet as many of you as I can.
    • No worries.   Wasn’t making fun of you.  If I had one dollar for every brain cramp moment I’ve posted here, I’d be rich!      It’s all good.
    • I'm very interested in Carlie's as well.  I'm just not sold on our starting LB core.
    • I also forgot to say I think Buffalo will also have a down year.
    • Yeah North.....maybe I got confused about the Pittsburgh Pirates playing in the central.  But I think before realignment there were only 3 divisions, I think.. Like the Colts and Dolphins played in the East, the Raiders and Broncos played in the West and the Steelers and Brownies played in the Central.  But yeah my mistake the Steelers currently in the North division.
