Who would even remember Joe Namath had he not guaranteed a win?  Had he just kept his mouth shut, chances are he would not be so famous.  He was not an elite QB, yet all these years later he is still somewhat famous. 

 

Some people have benefited by shooting off their mouth.  Obviously, Pot Roast's boasts did not turn out the same as Namath's.  But you can't blame him for trying.

In sports, there are additional examples of bragging that played well for the bragger. Pot Roast just isn't one example.

Muhammad Ali is one example of a guy who turned out doing ok. Rex Ryan is like Pot Roast in that he failed to make good.

Namath sucked. Look at his stats. Aside from that SB, he has little else to hang his hat on. Someone wins the Super Bowl every year.
