Getting Warmack and defensive player 1st round

Recommended Posts

If Grigson can manage a way to get Warmack, which if he goes early 20s, would be possible, AND get a stud defensive player(DE/OLB Barkevious Mingo, DTs Star Lotulelei and Johnathon Hankins, SS Eric Reid), I would commend the heck out of him!

To do this we would have to have a pick worth wanting from another team, trade down and acquire multiple picks which we could use to then trade back up from the 2nd and get OG Warmack.

I think fixing the trenches on both sides should be the priority next draft. Getting Star Lotulelei after a trade down to the 7 or 8 spot and then getting Chance Warmack later on would be a perfect start to our draft!

Star would be our Haloti Ngata player and would allow us to play both 3-4 and 4-3 effectively. Star can play DE on 3-4 downs with Chapman at NT and Redding at the other DE spot, and NT on 4-3 downs with Nevis as the UT and Mario Addison and Mathis as the DEs.

While i'd love to get say Jarvis Jones AND Warmack, it would be extremely difficult without the #2 pick we gave up for Vontae or trading a future #1.

If we are picking top 8 or so, all we have to do is trade down and get an extra 2nd and possibly more, and with that 2nd we trade that and maybe a future 2nd or 3rd and move back up to the early 20s to get Warmack.

I could see how that would work, but then you miss out on top 10 talent by trading down further. I think we're just going to have to make a choice and take the top player available. Not a lot of ammo to trade with this year. I'm not sure a mid #2 and a future 2 would get you back to pick 20, not sure though, but the value sounds off.

Well if it will end up being to difficult to pull off, then Id be in favor of us trading down still, taking OG Chance Warmack if the value is worth it and its not a reach. Then with our 2nd round pick acquired in the trade(and we may manage to get more in the trade), take the best defensive player available. Preferrably a SS like Kenny Vaccarro or NT like Johnathon Jenkins.

    • Trade him? He just handed him a nice extension.
    • Yes, thanks, you’re right. When the Panthers traded to get the 1 is when Ballard said he didn’t have all the information to make the trade. That’s strange to me.  “Didn’t want to make a blind decision without all the information,” Ballard told reporters Monday. “I know for people, they might not understand that. But I think history kind of tells you that when you do that, you better know what you’re getting. And we weren’t quite ready to do that at that time. And then we feel like there’s enough depth in the draft that we were gonna be okay.”   This was in late March. Ballard had a chance to get the 1 and use it to take Stroud not Young. I think it’s strange he said he didn’t move up to 1 because it would have been a “blind decision.” Why would it be a blind decision in March? Why wouldn’t you know what you’re getting? You’re getting whoever you want if you get the 1. It didn’t happen, but Ballard could have recognized that Stroud was going to be superior, could have made the trade and could have drafted him. Ballard admits it never occurred to him to attempt the trade because it would be a “blind decision.”
    • I cringed after seeing the way his leg bent underneath him to the point of him sitting down on it. Buckner is one tough dude and to see him needing help to get off the field is when I knew he was going to be out for a while.
    • He probably felt confident Bowers would still be on the board at 15 once he made it past NYJ at 11.  He could've been trading up with other teams to move up to get Brock Bowers, but unfortunately, the Raiders had their eyes set on him and took him at 13.
    • Not now...   Let the year play out. Maybe at the end of the season...
