Rushing + Completions = Wins?

With Pep Hamilton arriving as the Colts new offensive coordinator, there seems to be a renewed focus on our running game. To some, this is not welcomed as it would take the game out of Andrew Luck's hands, arguable our best player. Especially after a year with so much success slinging the ball.

However, there are some statistics that show that if a team can average a total of 50 combined rush attempts and completions, it creates a formula for success. (i.e. 25 rushes and 25 completions per game, or 20 rushes and 30 completions per game, etc...).

You can read about it in the article below.

http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/The-magic-number-is-50.html

After reading the article, what are your thoughts of having a more balanced attack, with a focus of having the "Magic 50?"

The Schlereth Tapes Surfaces.....

Here's Mark Schlereth's tape where he predicts the Colts will have a good season, but not a playoff caliber season.

http://espn.go.com/blog/afcsouth/post/_/id/50864/video-schlereth-on-afc-playoff-field

Also, today, he was on SportsCenter and the topic was which of the Big 3 Rookie QB's will have a Sophomore slump... RG3/Wilson/Luck...

He said Luck because he'll miss Arians and because Schlereth doesn't believe in our offensive line.

Next Man Up - Left Tackle

We have about 6 weeks with nothing going on. So I'll obsess over this for a while, plus it gives us a fresh thread.

It seems that we have a decent backup for just about every position, except one of the most important - LT.

In last week's chat session I asked Kevin Bowen who he thought would back up AC. (And I said, please don't say Link).

He thought that Sowell would be next in line. In reality, I think it probably would be Link. Could someone break through during the preseason and win the job?

Thoughts?

Pagano: "Bjoern Werner Is A Natural"

Per Rotoworld.

Bjoern Werner - LB - Colts
Colts coach Chuck Pagano says first-rounder Bjoern Werner has looked like a "natural" as he's taken snaps at outside linebacker this offseason.
Werner was a defensive end for Florida State. "He doesn’t make many mental (mistakes), so we’re going to keep throwing stuff at him and use him in a bunch of different roles," Pagano said. "He can be effective not only in the run game, but when we get to third down, he’s going to be a hard guy to block." Werner should still see snaps with his hand in the dirt, but it's clear the Colts aren't going to be shy about rushing him off the edge. We're not so sure it's a role he will thrive in.
I know it's only mini camp but it seems that the Colts are very pleased with the progress of Werner. Like myself they have high hopes for this kid and ultimately believe they can line him up anywhere on the field and he will still make big plays.
