I always liked Blake Freeland.

Yes, he's still got some growing to do.  But the shear fact that he was able to start multiple games at both tackle positions due to injuries, without sucking badly, is a testament to where this kid can go.

I'm excited to see Jake Witt in training camp after he had a 'redshirt' year doing film work, walk-throughs, getting into a pro strength and conditioning program, a pro nutrition program and all the mental reps he's had!

He did suck badly I’m afraid.  He ranked 80/84 for tackles.  That’s very bad.  Raiman ranked 7/84.  That’s very good.  So Freeland did suck badly unfortunately.  Yeah he was a rookie and he needs some strength and conditioning.  But he has a long way to go to get to average.  He shouldn’t be handed the swing tackle position.  Hopefully we bring in some competition or a veteran we can count on to do a better job.

Did we still win games? Yes we did. He was serviceable and was thrown into the fire against all pro defensive line guys  For a fourth round rookie he did a pretty good job and will keep getting better.

He wasn't serviceable.  He sucked.  We had no one else to put out there.  He can play football.  Great.  If serviceable means playing the position yeah he's serviceable.  lol

I agree, his PFF score was poor.  However, I didn't grind my teeth to powder with every snap like I did when we had Eric Fisher, Matt Pryor, and Julien Davenport.  He wasn't supposed to start.  He was drafted to be a backup right tackle.  At yet, by mid-training camp, he had already vaulted to the primary swing for both tackle positions.  And when he was forced to start, he held his own.  Barely, to be sure!  But he wasn't a traffic cone like Pryor was.  I expect him to advance beyond his rookie performance level.  No, I'm not expecting him to be All World or anything.  Serviceable/Reliable is probably his ceiling.  But that's pretty good for a 4th round pick!

    • I don’t think you’re wrong. I agree with this concern.  And if one looks back at history, you see it in every run first QB. This is why the colts are trying to force him into pocket passing more right now. Limit those hits. At least in my opinion I think it is
    • I originally misread your question, I thought you were asking if he’d still be the starter in year 3, not 3 years from now.   in either case, i think the answer is yes. But ONLY if the kid stays healthy. I’ve seen enough to think he can be an average to above average starter in the league, but health is the number one concern.
    • The Colts should create a hour long "Protecting Yourself/ Sliding for Dummies" vid demonstrating other highly successful QB's doing it, and have ours watch it Daily until he has proven he understands.   AR definitely still doesn't get it. He has believed that he is a a Cam like Superman, and it needs to become clear to him that he is actually NFL Fragile. The kid can't take a open field hit.   Still picturing Hero 'LB' Luck getting jacked by two Broncos, Luck whirlybirding in the air, ending up with a lacerated kidney. One of dozens of bad decision hits he took.  There wouldn't be anything wrong with AR sitting for awhile until he grows up.  While he is contemplating his Issues, teach the kid to throw an out that doesn't sail 6' over his receivers head. NO amount of game experience will fix it. It's actually Quite pathetic watching him do it over and over.   And, trying to throw the ball downfield to AD is a loser. He is lost out there. Those plays should be called for Pierce, if you are actually playing to win.
    • Why?    He could have been signed off of our practice squad at any time.   This doesn't really change anything
    • Moss has not been good this season
