Too many offensive playmakers?

Recommended Posts

With the Dorsett selection, do we have too many offensive weapons? As crazy as that sounds, there are only so many balls to go around. If you are trying to keep Hilton, Johnson, Gore, Fleener, Allen, Dorsett, Moncrief, and even Boom Herron happy, it seems like someone is going to be disgruntled about their role in the offense.

Another consideration is that both Allen and Fleener are due extensions as both have one more year left on their deals. I am not sure we can afford to keep both while putting together a competent D.

I am curious what sort of demand Fleener has on the open market. I have a difficult time believing a team like Oakland would not be interested in trading their 3rd round pick for a young, improving receiving TE in Fleener. I would be fine with Doyle as the #2 TE for a year. It would be interesting to see if Swoope can compete for the #3 spot.

I would also consider trading Jerrell Freeman (which we can do since he signed his tender) for a 4th round pick. I could see the Browns being interested, plus they have 2 fourth round picks. Freeman was injured last season. He is in his late 20's, I would make the trade.
