  1. Just spent the evening being entertained by James Taylor.  I was in awe of this man's amazing incredible talent.   "How Sweet it is"

      No one yet mentioned 'You've a Friend", one of Taylor's best songs.  Carole King also recorded it, though not sure who had it first.

      Carole King wrote You've got a Friend for James Taylor.  According to Taylor, Carole King told him that this song was a response to his 1970 hit "Fire and Rain," where Taylor sings, "I've seen lonely times when I could not find a friend." King's musical response: "you've got a friend right here."

      I didn't know that "You've Got a Friend" was in response to "Fire and Rain."; I never connected the two, although I can see it now. James Taylor has the kind of voice that calms, if that makes sense.
