Yes should consider but should wait to see how he adapts to the new defensive scheme first. Pagano and Manusky might be unleashing a beast with this new monster or maybe he`s lost a step or two and doesnt fit in. Why rush into an extension when still a year on his contract?

If early on in training camp and/or the season he shows to be a stud, then yes they should extend him 3 years or so.

If in training camp it's clear that he is lost in the defense and the plans for fare more 3-4 than 4-3, then they should try to move him or release him and save the 14 million.

Once week 1 is played, his contract is guaranteed if he's on the roster and he's basically in Indy for the rest of the year unless his agent works out a deal with another team to lower his cap hit via a trade & extension with the other team.

I believe it would be a waste of money to pay him the 14 million base salary for 2012, and then turn around and sign him to an extension that would then give him an additional 15-20 million as a signing bonus. Let that 14 million that is tied up for 2012 work into the future as well, that is if he's showing to be a stud and worth that type of an extension.
