Top 50 Available Free Agent List

Without looking at your link and compiling my own upcoming OL FAs...

LT Calvin Anderson (Broncos) 8.70 RAS and has graded well would push Raimann for starting spot

C/RG Evan Brown (Lions) 9.33 RAS and graded well playing in a wide-zone scheme.  Would upgrade our RG spot and adds bonus for playing the Center role if needed

RG Phil Haynes (Seahawks) 9.26 RAS used to playing outside-zone stretch-bootleg scheme

RT Chuma Edoga (Falcons) 7.79 RAS and was playing well before being sidelined with a knee injury.  With the Colts projected not to extended either Dennis Kelly or Matt Pryor we need at proven RT backup behind Smith and Edoga is more than capable with respectable PFF grades that past few seasons.

On defense the only players that I would target...

DL Teair Tart (Titans) - Grover Stewart younger replacement.  The Titans are low on cap space Tart has been playing well.  Stewart may very well become a cap causality allowing us to replace him with Tart.

Bring back CB Rock Ya-Sin (Raiders)

Edge Marcus Davenport (Saints) - Expect both Lewis and Banogu not to be resigned and we have a good tandem already in place with Paye and Odeyingbo.

Cap space will be tight which means we will have to trade/cut some players to make it a possiblity but free up cap space for draft capital:

C Ryan Kelly

SCB Kenny Moore

TE MAC

DL Grover Stewart

QB Matt Ryan

LB Shaquille Leonard

The more I breakdown the statistics and player personnel we have against the cap space I don't see us being too aggressive in FA.  In the end I think best to retain most what we have on roster but to sign one or two OL live Calvin Anderson and Chuma Edoga.  Finding a RG still seems to be an immediate issue.

Looking ahead to 2024 FA class again not many OL stand out except OC Tyler Biadasz (Cowboys) which may be the best chance to target.  RG Chris Lindstrom (Falcons) and RT Tytus Howard (Texans) are two other possibilities but both teams have plenty of cap space to retain unless they wish to hit FA and test the market.

The best thing about next year's FA is the DL players.  We know both Buckner and Stewart for the Colts are nearing the end of their contracts and could be moved.  Some of the best top targets to me are DI Ed Oliver (Bills) to replace Buckner.  The Bills already are projected to be low on cap space for 2024 with ~40.535m before resigning current contract extensions.  The Ravens have two DI players that could replace Stewart with either Madubuike or Broderick Washington.  The Ravens are currently projected with ~84.349m cap space for 2024 before current roster extensions.   Lastly Davon Hamilton (Jaguars) is another strong Stewart replacement to consider knowing the Jaguars only have around ~76.769m in cap space projected to-date.

The next group is the edge players.  No way I can see us competing for the likes of Nick Bosa, Josh Allen, Brian Burns, Alex Highsmith or Josh Uche.  However, the following is a list of edge players that I would keep an eye on for next year:

  • Darrell Taylor (Seahawks)
  • Anfernee Jennings (Patriots)
  • D.J. Wonnum (Vikings)
  • Michael Danna (Chiefs)
  • James Smith-Williams (Commanders)
  • Casey Toohill (Commanders)

The Commanders are currently projected with ~99m in cap space for 2024 before signing player extensions.  SS Kamren Curl is another player to keep an eye on from Washington along with SS Josh Metellus (Vikings).  Metellus is a backup to Harrison Smith (34) but been playing very well.   The Vikings have ~ 98m in cap space for 2024 currently.

The last two free agents for next year that I am currently tracking would be CB Trevon Diggs (Cowboys) and CB Cameron Dantzler (Vikings).  Dantzler is injury prone but has proven can play ball for a 7th round draft pick.

Thanks for all the homework you do when you make posts like this.

One small request for future posts.   When you lust players for consideration and you give their teams, would you please also include their position.  That would be very helpful.

Thanks again!

Im fine with everyone on this list, except two.    I don’t see the Colts trading Stewart and Leonard.

Stewart has gotten better every year and I think is now worth his contract.   And with Leonard coming off an injury filled year,  his performance, combined with his contract makes him almost untradable. We’d be selling low on him.  And would get very little by way if draft picks and would suffer with a gigantic dead cap hit.   That’s a lose-lose situation.  No upside.

If we’re ever going to move away from Leonard you have to give him a chance to re-establish his worth.  That way you get more in return while lowering the dead cap hit.   Better for all concerned.

PS — I love the idea of trying to bring back Rock.   I’m not sure the Colts will meet his asking price, but it’s worth looking into.

In response to your earlier response LT Calvin Anderson and RT Chuma Edoga were the only two didn't clearly mention their positions but have noted in other posts possibly in other threads.

Most of what was written above is old data and and not going to happen this off-season.  Too many available IDL next year in 2024 FA well worth targeting to replace both Stewart or even Buckner.  No way we can afford a big FA LCB let alone trade Leonard.  Imagine someone has to renegotiate their current contract and free up cap space just to keep the main core of players together and allow for at least one key signing such as LCB or Edge.

Clearly losing Glowinski at RG continues to plague us.  Looks like I need to do some more research on quality RT's that can slide over to RG or move Smith back inside and start over.  Who knows maybe we will get Aaron Rodgers as our next QB and take LCB Devon Witherspoon instead.
