Peyton Manning has reported to training camp on time.

Just in time to sit and watch from the sidelines

One day after signing a new five-year, $90 million contract, the only four-time MVP in league history reported to Anderson University Sunday and was quickly placed on the physically unable to perform list while he rehabilitates his surgically repaired neck, NFL.com's Steve Wyche reports.

While players aren't scheduled to practice until Monday,

Manning went through his first rehab session with team trainers Sunday afternoon -- a process that he said will occur multiple times a day during training camp. He put no timetable on when he will be back on the field but said that he will do limited throwing as part of his rehab.

Backup quarterback Curtis Painter will take first-team snaps in practice

and in preseason games while Manning is out.

Owner Jim Irsay said the team will have four quarterbacks other than Manning in camp and, if needed, will add more

This thing with his neck really bothers me. Peyton must be the toughest SoB on the planet. When he does get hurt, you don't hear about it until he gets surgery.
