Trying to shift Doug Martin (trade advice)

Recommended Posts

You are really screwing up if you do it.       Martin is GUARANTEED touches week in week out.

Moreno and Bernard..   those are dice rolls every week until someone gets hurt.

Martin is the MAN in TB.   I got him too...      don't give up.

Doug Martin + Anquan Boldin for Knowshon Moreno + Gio Bernard.

What do you make of that?

In a few weeks SF gets MM and Crabby back...   then AB will get some more run.

I think Bernard had huge upside and Moreno has been decent. Boldin has been blanketed in coverage and fairly quiet but could still break out like he has a couple times.

I'd do it

Yes Martin gets carries. But what has he done with those carries?  So far he has been a bust in FFL.

He's had touches all season and he hasn't done anything with them.

Do you not think his production will drop even lower now that they have a rookie QB? Load the box to stop the run, then force Glennon to throw?

Bernard/Moreno is a pretty good deal. If you could get that, I'd prob do it.

But Doug Martin is a commodity. As a Martin owner I prob wouldn't move him for anyone but a few people. Ap Charles McCoy. That's probably it straight up.

Martin is on track for 368 carries. 35rec and around 1500yards....is you told me that at the beginning of the season I would thrilled....his TDs are down no doubt, but if you expect Martin to finish with around 8tds like I do, then Martin is track to score around 7tds in the next 11games...

    • The financial aspect of small market vs large market is nonsense, IMO.  There are more endorsements from local car dealerships in NYC than Indy?  So what.    Andy Reid and Pat Mahomes are doing commercials for State Farm insurance, and they play for KC.   From a financial aspect, I'd say that avoiding a high state income tax rate on your NFL contract would be a greater financial incentive than the income generated by local endorsements.
    • Week 13 schedule:  Thursday Night Seahawks at Cowboys   Sunday Colts at Titans Chargers at Patriots Lions at Saints Falcons at Jets Cards at Steelers Dolphins at Commanders Broncos at Texans Panthers at Bucs Browns at Rams 49ers at Eagles Chiefs at Packers   Monday Night Bengals at Jags   My best guesses, subject to change, lol
    • Yeah but what I originally ment was It'd feel incomplete/flukey/hollow if we won by playing bad football all year. Not a few games. And the "crappy/bad" football is an exaggeration to emphasize my point.   In a season where so many QBs and starters are injured I wouldn't be surprised if a dark horse went and won it all. If that was the Colts it'd feel hollow to me, because while we're not playing crappy/bad, we're not playing anywhere near SB level.
    • Blackmon’s best position is SS.  They moved him back to it this year.  Now he is excelling and I’m happy for him.  Cross was very young when we traded up to draft him.  20 years old I believe.  That could be part of his problem.  A lot to handle as a rookie.  I don’t see him unseating Blackmon now.  I think his best shot is FS if he can learn the position.  If he can’t I’m not sure his future is with the Colts.
    • Yep. Plus his release point isn't higher either like AR thus resulting in more batted balls down the middle.
